Unpretentious, competitively priced 1 star Paris hotel with 40-plus rooms just 5 minutes from Gare du Nord rail station on foot in the downtown 10th district, offering basic, neat good-value rooms and a warm, down-to-earth service in an area with excellent public transport links to the world-renowned monuments and attractions of Paris.The Grand Hotel Magenta has recently refurbished some of its rooms and offers a variety of accomodation - from simply furnished single and double rooms decorated in neutral tints (with the option of en suite bathroom or shared facilities in the hall), to cosy, bright, functional suites with newly-fitted carpets, adapted to welcome from 3 to 5 guests at a time. For rooms which are not en suite there will be a fee of 3 € for using the shared bathroom. It's a fantastic option for families or groups of friends, at a hard-to-beat price for central Paris. A short 10 minute metro ride from Gare du Nord (lines 4 & 7) takes you to the pedestrian shopping area of Chatelet-les-Halles, the Louvre gallery, Ile-de-la-Cité - home of the mythical Notre Dame cathedral and the chic uptown neighourhoods of Le Marais and Saint Germain-des-Pres. Across the street from the hotel you can catch the number 30 bus to Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower, and the number 31 service to the Champs Elysees, which drop you off at the doorstep of the hotel on the way back. In close proximity to the hotel there are plenty of bars, restaurants and cafés on Boulevard Magenta and Boulevard de Strasbourg, and withn 10 minutes on foot is the delightful Canal Saint Martin, perfect for a lazy afternoon stroll to escape the bustle of the city.Homely, well-maintained hotel that will certainly make you feel welcome.
