De Diepp Hotel Paris

Me and my husband stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in August 2007. Having read reviews about this hotel, we were skeptical and expected the least before we arrive. This hotel is suitable for budget travellers that do not expect a luxury when they arrive (that's why this hotel is 2 star, not a 5 star!). However, this hotel can provide all the basic necessities that you need. The room is quite compact, just enough for two people with a double bed, a wardrobe, a desk, side tables and lamps, a tv and ensuite bathroom. However, the room is clean and spotless when we arrive. Breakfast (each person was given a baguette and a croissant, dont expect more!)is served in a tiny area just outside our room, so if you want to get up a bit late and doesnt want the clinking noise of cups and spoon be heard, ask for a room above the 1st floor. The location however is the best bit, you can walk for 15 - 20 mins (depending on how fast) to St Madeleine church, Place de la Concorde and within easy reach of the famous sights in Paris. Opera Garnier is 5 mins away and mammoth department stores in Grand Boulevards(Au Printemps and Galaries Lafayette) are also quite near (5 mins walking distance). If you need a place just to sleep for the night, then this hotel is for you. We will definitely go again since the beauty of Paris does not lie in its hotel rooms anyway!

Good location, clean room and bathroom, but to noisy - room on the steet.

The hotel was much better than we expected; we chose it as it was the cheapest available, but the room seemed cared for, the staff respectful and the buffet breakfast in the morning really tasty. I thoroughly recommend it!

Great location and very clean room. Small! Very thin walls. A small breakfast was included which we did not know in advance--a nice surprise.

Although this had a great location the hotel is very basic. The shower didn't work in the room, the pillows were like paper. When they say parking available it really means parking in a nearby car park at 27 euros for the day! We only picked this hotel on the basis that it had parkign facilities and to discover this was at a cost was very disappointing.
