The accommodation was ok and the value was fair. But people at the reception could not be so rude with the guests.

+ The front desk attendant was quite nice, attentive, and able to communicate in english. the hotel is incredibly close to the gare du nord, so if you have to get out of there the next day to take the rer to charles de gaulle airport, you can get there with no metro ride, or no expensive taxis. the rer line b leaves right from gare du nord. - This hotel is in a really shady area of town. of course, being so close to main train station is almost guaranteed seediness in europe. (or anywhere else in the world.) however, i did notice that the area surrounding the gare de l'est ( literally just two blocks away) is much nicer. it is the kind of neighborhood where people are laying around drinking at seedy cafes and tabacs until all hours of the night. at about 9:00 pm, while my husband was asleep, i took a walk to the grocer down the street. i'm a seasoned urban girl, and the guys shouting lewd comments and following me (in jest, but disconcerting nonetheless) made me want to rush back to the relative safety of the hotel. stay close to the gare de l'est and just walk over to the gare du nord. for the extra five minutes walking time, you'd be much happier.

Five minute walk to Paris Nord train station and Metro. Busy main street with some traffic noise. Had to leave room key, which was attached to TV remote, when going out. Room had just been cleaned with some very strong chemical which made breathing rather strained, especially since the window couldn't be opened. Some strange hair on the sheets and other bed clothes.

the room was clean aswell as the bathroom and the sheets. Further, it was quiet small, but oke. the bed was to small for me. The location is well situated (centre pompidou = 15 ' walking, Notre Dame = 25 ' walking. The two main stations (Nord and East) are nearby.
