Overall the Hotel is fine. The only inconvenience is the late check-in hour.

Stayed for 2 nights in May 2009. Aladin is a budget travel hotel (don't expect more). Clean, basic, no frills, running hot water, private bathrooms,(towels looked very well worn...not for the hypochondriacs), no bed bugs, TV. Generally acceptable. Friendly English speaking staff. Good for the price.

Hotel is in a great location and the rooms are very clean. You should only choose this hotel because of its location. Another drawback are the small rooms and worn fixtures and fittings. Reception staff were incompetent, unable to order a taxi for us the previous night to catch an early flight (we did it ourselves as we speak very good french & english, the receptionist is rude in both languages). The place is a bit like Fawlty Towers for anybody thats seen the John Cleese comedy series. Warning rooms are very cold, heat turned off early morning inspite it being 5 degC so this is not the hotel to pick in winter/early spring. Spent first night freezing because the rooms had been unheated prior to our arrival, normal in budget hotels in Paris. I know that you can't have high expectations of this type of Paris hotel but the practice of turning off heat while you occupy rooms is unacceptable. Were charged 10 euro to store 2 pieces of luggage the day we were leaving, with the excuse that the maid had to move our luggage when cleaning the room! We had no choice as we had to vacate. When we complained in French we received more rudeness- Sharp practice- ripoff! The hotel would have got better marks if the staff were polite. They just dont care. Its a budget place but good manners and service mindedness are normally free- never had this problem before in any hotel, Ive stayed in all price classes in France. It appears be a family run reception so dont't expect anything to change,no one will get fired for being rude even if you complain. There are better places to stay at the same price. Once again only choose this hotel because of its location (close to Latin Quarter+ quiet). Mature travellers will not like this hotel. If you are handicapped or in a wheelchair you will have problems, the passageways and lift are cramped.

Never book on this Hotel again. First of all very bad service, no soap in the toilette (yes there was one used by some earlier guest but almost finished) and second day no paper on toilette, very badly cleaned. Second day at midnight they asked 5 Euros for a bottle of mineral water (never paid that even in 5 stars Hotel). I booked for 3 days and so decided to quit on third day, they have not refounded me (I check out before 12 AM), matterly of fact they charged my credit card when I arrived so I paid third night even not using the service. Last but not least a friend of mine, who is professor in Beijing University, and that was picking me up to the Hotel, when I checked out asked if I had paid, they where incredibly unpolite answering that they dont talk with her and treating the person like a prostitute. I have 54 years and this is the first time I have such situation, I think seriously to make complaint to the Embassy.
