Very cute hotel. Rooms are small compared to what we're used to, but the location made up for it. Couldn't ask for a better location - near Notre Dame, The Pantheon, lots of restaurant options, and a metro stop.

This hotel is a well-kept secret. With a friendly and helpful staff, great location and clean rooms, I would recommend this hotel to anyone - in fact my family is going to visit Paris for the holidays next year and we are going to book a whole floor.

Great Location, a few blocks from all the action, and metro (a couple of blocks from Notre Dame) but still relatively quiet. The hotel is clean and our room was a nice size for a European Hotel.

In April was fortunate to stay at the BEST resort ever, Secrets Capri in Playa del Carmen Mexico. Wrote a glowing review on that resort. Then in May I came to this hotel. What a difference. The public areas are kept up nice and clean. It's mainly the service and amenities. They gave me and my son a double bed in a tiny room even though we had emailed them ahead of time, several times, in French and English requesting 2 beds explaining we were mother and son traveling. Well, we explain again that we were mother and son and needed 2 beds. They said it would be 30 euros per night extra and wouldn't budge. That's ridiculous! They show us the "bigger" room. It had 2 twin beds RIGHT next to each other. Further the safe didn't work, they couldn't fix it and they were like, oh well. I asked them were was an iron for me to iron my clothes. I was directed to the basement were a tiny, humid laundry room was to iron my clothes. Have never been to such poor facilities in quite some years. Despite this hotel, I had a lovely time in Paris. Thought the city of Paris was one of the loveliest cities I have ever seen, very clean, picturesque. The people were the most romantic and very nice.

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights in June. The hotel is nice. Our room (#61) had a great view of the Paris skyline including Notre Dam and the Pantheon. We asked for twin beds and actual were given a double and a twin. The room was a nice size (for a European hotel), even had 2 small closets. The hotel is 1 block away from a subway station and is just several blocks to Notre Dam. There are many cafe's and restraurants within a 1/2 radius. I was most impressed with the staff. I had a problem with my train tickets and the front desk clerk went out of her way to call the train station and was able to solve the problem for me. Very nice, since I speak no French at all. They were also very helpful to another traveler who had lost their luggage. I would forgo the continental breakfast - 10euros. There are many cafe's and passiteries in the area where you can get great breakfasts for less money.

The hotel was very clean and nice. We had a room with a bathtub that was on the 5th floor facing the Notre Dame. The room was very small, but who want's to spend time in their room while in Paris. The windows can be opened and in spring/summer it would be a nice thing to have. The front desk was very nice and spoke English and had good suggestions. The price was a bit expensive. The elevators are really small, it only fits one person and 1 bag. It is 2 blocks from the trains and close to ATM's etc. We also walked to the Notre Dame, Lourve etc. from there, lot's of restaurants in the area. Overall it was a good place to stay

On our honeymoon, we stayed in the Hotel Abbatial for 2 nights, and after touring the mountains, decided to stay here again for the night before we returned to the states. The first stay we were in room #21, the second stay in room #44. The rooms are exceptionally clean, especially the bathrooms. We were expecting that Paris hotels would be tiny but our rooms were plenty large for the two of us and our two rolling duffels. Room #21 had an interior view but was fine -- we were hardly in the room at all anyway. Room #44 faced a side street, and on a Friday morning, was bustling with truck and car traffic. As other people have commented, the elevator was not very big, but not a big deal! We used the stairs most of the time anyway. In terms of the breakfast, yes, you could probably get a croissant and coffee for less than 10 euros at a cafe, but usually we didn't have just a croissant and coffee for breakfast! Breakfast is served in a cute little "grotto" in the basement -- we filled ourselves with coffee, hot chocolate, croissants, cheese, baguettes, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and juice (not all at once!). I'm sure that if we had paid individually at a cafe for what we usually ate at the hotel breakfast, it would be close to 10 euros or even more. The location is fantastic -- we never took a cab anywhere in Paris, including to and from the airport. About a block away from the Maubert metro stop, you need only go one stop to transfer to other lines (including the RER line to the airport). The bus also stops a block away, linking you directly to the Gare Lyon (if you take the train to other French/European sites). There were lots of good restaurants within a block or two, so if you came back after a long day of sightseeing, you needn't go far to go back out for dinner. The hotel staff was also very accomodating, friendly, and informative. We highly recommend the Hotel Abbatial!

We stayed at this hotel during a romantic trip to Paris. Our initial reservation was for 5 nights, then we went to London, but booked the hotel directly with them for the second week. This is a nice, clean hotel in a great location with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. It is next to a great little cafe- the Paris-St. Germain-and close to the metro stop, 2 great chocolate shops, a wonderful pastry shop, and a cheese shop, etc. etc. Noise was not really a problem as the windows are very well-insulated and walls were thick. We definitely enjoyed our stay there and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Only drawback is the height of the shower/tub enclosure- I could see where someone with limited mobility could not use it.

I stayed at the Abbatial Saint Germain in February, 2003. The lobby was startingly tiny; there was a small section with a couple of easy chairs where guests could read their morning papers, and there was an attached room that seemed to be part of the lobby as well, although I never saw anyone in it and don't know if it was officially used for anything. Check-in was hassle-free, but no-one offered to help me with my bags. I was given general directions to my room and struggled to haul my suitcase up the stairs. Luckily, I was on the first floor and I figured out how to turn on the hall light (it was on a timer and shut off automatically). There is a very, very small elevator as I later found out; it will hold one person and their bag or two people, no bags. The room was also miniscule, but that was not unexpected. It was also spotless, which was the most important thing to me. There was a tiny armoire, two nightstands, a queen-sized bed, a desk and chair and a wall-mounted tv. The television only got CNN and BBC World News; I don't know if it was broken or if it was typical of this hotel, but since I wasn't in Paris to watch the television, I didn't complain. The room had lovely French (what else?) doors with which opened to a view of the quiet side street, the Rue des Bernardins. The room was also close to the front of the Hotel, so I did get quite a bit of traffic noise from the Boulevard Saint Germain. The little balconies also had well-tended window-boxes which added to the charm.T he bathroom was also spotless and had new, modern conveniences. Breakfast was held in the charming basement with it's stone walls and bucolic mural. There was a selection of breads, cereals, juices, yogurts and fruit. Breakfast coiuld also be ordered through room service, although there is no menu; simply an assortment of the same items are brought on a tray. All of the hotel staff were courteous and efficient. The desk staff was helpful, in particular the night desk man (I'm afraid I cannot remember his name). The hotel's greatest asset is it's location. A walk down the short Rue des Bernardins leads one to the Seine with a view of Notre Dame. The hotel is located on the famous Boulevard Saint Germain, although it is quite a distance away from some of the famous cafes for which this area is well-known. The hotel is very near Sylvia Beach's famous shop, Shakespeare and Company, and is also quite close to the incredible La Tour d'Argent, one of Paris's most famous and well-regarded restaurants. There are countless places that can be reached within an easy walk: the Louvre, the Place des Vosges, Notre Dame, Ile St. Louis, the Beaubourg (Centre Georges Pompidou), the Pont Neuf, Musee de Cluny, Musee d'Orsay, la Conciergerie, to name but just a few. The Metro station Maubert-Mutualite is two blocks away and there are numerous convenient banks, pharmacies and cafes. There is an Internet cafe next to the comic book shop on the corner of the Boulevard Saint-Germain and Boulevard Saint Michel. I'd have no qualms about staying at the Abbatial Saint Germain again, although I think I'd prefer a bit more luxury. I can certainly recommend it if one is looking for a clean, reasonably-priced hotel in an excellent location.

My companion and I stayed at the Hotel Abbatial St Germain from Dec 23-29. I loved it, it's in a great location 2 minutes from the metro. The rooms and bathrooms are decorated modernly, and they were always very clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
