Best Western Premier Hotel West End
31 Promenade Des Anglais Bp 26 - 06000 Nice
Overlooking the beach and the Bay of Angels, this hotel with the Belle Epoque façade has stood on the Promenade des Anglais since 1840. The Messena Art and History Museum is next door. The hotel offers access to a private section of beach as well as alfresco dining at a restaurant with sea views and a menu that mixes traditional Mediterranean items with Asian-influenced dishes. The 125 guestrooms, some with sea views and all with safes, minibars, and private bathrooms, are individually designed. Tied-back curtains frame tall windows equipped with roll-down sunscreens. This 19th-century hotel with the white Belle Epoque façade was one of the first to be built along the famed Promenade des Anglais. One of its strongest attractions is the decor of the interior public spaces, many of which have been faithfully maintained to their original splendor. The hotel also offers a restaurant and terrace on the front of the property, both with outside areas for dining alongside the Promenade. This six-story hotel has 125 soundproofed guestrooms. All are individually designed and feature antique-style décor with armchairs and tied-back curtains framing tall windows. White-metal sunscreens can be rolled down on the outside of the windows. Built-in closets with mirrored sliding doors have small safes with combination locks. And tiled, private bathrooms include hair dryers, shower/tub combinations, and overhead spotlights.** Please note City tax of 1.20 Euros per day per person is due at Check-In.**

A lovely old hotel with a comfortable feel, friendly, helpful staff and a location that can't be beat. The West-End is located across the street from the promenade and the Med beaches, with plenty to eat and do a short walk away. It should be even better with the renovations complete.

We paid extra for a sea view room. For a "4 Star" hotel that was supposedly updated recently we were disappointed by the shabbiness of our room on the 6th (top)floor. It looked like the last update was in the 60s. The bed took up about half the floor space. There was no shower curtain, by design apparently. The lower floor hallways looked a lot nicer than the 5th & 6th floor hallways so maybe the rooms on those floors are the nice ones (?) What made the rest almost worth it was that we had a veranda with a gorgeous postcard view of the Negresco hotel and the beach stretching to to the airport. The location is hard to beat. The included buffet breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly. "

Not a bad hotel. The air conditioning barely cooled the room, the furniture was threadbare and the staff failed to follow through with promises. Everyone was very friendly, but a bucket of actual ice would have been preferable to the smiling apology when it never showed up.

Very convienient location The West End Hotel is located at the port end of Promenade Anglaise, facing the promenade. It's within walking distance of the historic city and the main shopping areas. The hotel itself is old-style - very pretty. The staff are fine. Not exactly bursting with enthusiasm, but polite. Out of personal choice, we only slept in the hotel and did not use any of its other serives. The bedroom was small, but clean. The only complaint we had about the rooms was that the beds were shockingly uncomfortable. In all my times staying in hotels, I have never slept on a mattress that left my back aching so much. When we went to check out, we were nearly charged for a breakfast that we did not have and the receptionist was not terribly apologetic for the confusion and frustration caused on the part of the hotel. Besides that, if you're looking to do you're own thing and want to be able to walk around, I would recommend this hotel.

We were given a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor, but the room and hallways smelled of smoke. We had to request another room because the carpet appeared dirty with stains, the walls were stained with smoke, and the "city view" was a view of the wall of the hotel room next door. When we requested another room, the staff suggested we open the window. The hotel was definitely old and worn. The carpet badly needed to be clean and changed. The front desk staff were not happy when we requested another room, however the rest of the staff was friendly and service oriented. This is a good location if you want to be by the beach. The hotel is quiet and caters to older adults.

Disappointed The Hotel West End is a wonderfully located, historic hotel on the Rivera in Nice. This is why I wanted to stay there for my first holiday weekend on the Cote d’Azur. The staff was marvelous, but I was disappointed with my hotel room and some of the other facilities. My bathroom was fabulous, nice gleaming tiles and spacious. However, my sleeping room needed a paint job in the worst way, and the carpeting was old and not very clean. There were numerous marks on the wall, and it just looked grimey. Moreover, the carpeting in both elevators was absolutely filthy, and there was no way not to be aware of the huge dirty spots each time I entered or left the hotel. It didn’t leave a good impression. I’m a world travler, and I don’t think I’m being fussy, just candid. This was not an inexpensive trip for me, and I felt that it really wasn’t worth the high cost of the euro vis-a-vis the US $. In retrospect, I should have asked for another room, but we all know about hind sight being 20/20.

One to be avoided Resturant 30m on the left as you leave the hotel is excellent. Good food, good wine and excellent service. probably best to book but not essential

The West End should have agreed to do that, at a minimum, at the time. Go there at your own risk. I stated to them at the time I would be posting what occurred there on the internet. Well here it is, for all to view.
