Attended Rugby World Cup games at the Stade de Velodrome, so only a few minutes walk from the hotel. In terms of that it is excellent. Its a stock standard hotel in many ways e.g. like a slightly tired Novotel, but its clean and secure, rooms are samll but OK. The price we paid 140 Euro was ridiculous but related to the World Cup the regular price is 60 Euro and for that it would be excellent. The main area of the town is the Old Port City, which is a 15 min Metro ride away. The metro is only 2 mins walk from the hotel and clean and efficient.

The hall outside our room smelled so bad that we had to hold our breath till we were inside.

I was there for the Rugby World Cup quarter final weekend. Check in took 30-40min because there was only one member of staff on duty. The rate we'd been quoted was e140. When we got to the room we found the usual rate for 'peak season' was e73 - they had covered this with a sticker saying e140 ! We had to ask for soap after room service. Other than the above it was an ideal place to stay for the staium which was just across the road.

I understand that having the rugby world cup on would mean an increase in price...but to charge 140€ for a room that usually costs 66€ in high season was very frustrating for those of us who have to travel to see the New Zealand team play. The staff were brilliant and the location perfect, but the room was tiny, the bed uncomfortable, and the meals very budget. Exactly what I would expect from 66€ a night, but not 140€. It would have been nice to see an increase in facilities with that increase in price.

It was not easy to reach the hotel though we drove. Though we saw the hotel (at the opp side of the road), there was no U-turn available. We got lost in the highway. It took us 1 hr to finally reached the hotel. The reception staff is friendly and helpful and the room clean. However the reception area and public areas are full of cigarette smells. Overall, a fine place to stay.

The hotel is in a bad area of town, lots of police at night and the metro station is partially closed after dark with lots of police and police dogs. The local people in that area tend to be rowdy and loud and rude, and often try to intimidate others. As far as amenities, the restaraunt serves below average food for France, it is low in quality and selection and yet very expensive. There are very few other choices for dining in the area that the hotel is at. Their website claims they are two steps from the Prado Beach, the Prado Beach is blocks away from the hotel. The room that we stayed in had a toilet that would literally fall three to four inches down toward the floor everytime you sat on it. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to stay in Marseille.
