Hotel Saint Ferreol

Hotel Saint Ferreol

19, Rue Pisançon - 13001 Marseille

Set in a quiet pedestrian street in the city centre, this small arty hotel is located 200 meters from the old port and the famous fish market. There are just 17 guestrooms, each of which is styled around a particular French painter, such as Cezanne, Van Gogh or Gauguin. Each room has soft furnishings and reproductions of famous paintings hanging on the walls. All come with marble clad bathrooms, and benefit from cable televisions and Internet connections. The multilingual staff at the reception can assist guests with business and laundry services. There are Internet connections in the hotel's public areas, and breakfast is served in the bar area, where guests can also relax with a drink after a day's sightseeing. Attractions such as the Cantini Museum and L'Alcazar Library are 300 and 600 metres respectively. The hotel also being close to the old port means good access to a range of watersports. The closest airport is Marseille Provence; approximate driving time is 20 minutes and distance is 25 kilometres. There are shuttle buses every 20 minutes to/from Marseille Saint Charles railway station and Aix en Provence bus station.

We were quite happy with the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful. The closeness to Vieux Port was a bonus. We did use cabs because of once again over packing, but understand the hotel is easily reached by public transport. Every e-mail

+ Location... freindly staff... we came back for one night after a few days elsewhere, and they gave us a free upgrade to a superior room which was wonderful. - No carpark... but not too much of a hassle as carpark close by

Nice hotel in the best road of Marseille. We will go back to the same hotel next time if there are rooms available.

Excellent, quiet location. Elevator starts on first floor, not ground floor; that was inconvenient for us. Staff very helpful.

Would stay there again The hotel is in the center of the city yet very quiet at night. The owners are quite congenial and helpful. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Don’t be fooled by the hotel’s bland non-descript exterior appearance on a side alley. The inside is clean, tidy, and efficient. Traveler's tip on local attractions If you like trams, a brand new line through the heart of Marseille just opened this year (2007) and is worth a ride on.

I chose this hotel primarily due to its affordability, availability, and other positive reviews that I read online. I spent about two weeks in France in four different hotels, and this one was definitely my favorite. The location CAN'T be beat --...

The patrons were superb, both speaking excellent English and could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The only slight surprise and disappointment was the lack of a bar serving alchohol, as the web site and hotel promotional information advertised a bar and showed photographs of one. There was a "bar" but it did not serve alchohol. In England, a "bar" always serves alchohol. This was only a minor problem though as the owners were quite happy to provide glasses and ice for our own drinks which we had brought with us and this in no way detracted from the enjoyment of our stay. Future guests should be made aware of this though. I would definately recommend St Fereol's and would certainly stay there again if visiting Marseille in the future.

room size Expect a very small room if you get a double size bed...however if you opt for a larger bed, the room will be more comfortable, also a room that isn’t on the street will be alot more quiet.
