We had run out of booked accommodation so did this booking on the rush. It turned out to be what we wanted, found easy from the Metro (after asking for some directions). Room was big enough, we did not realise though that we were to be sleeping in the lounge on a sofa bed, not the greatest sleep we have had, we ended up on the floor the second night! Big plus was the cooking facilities, we were hanging out for some home cooked vegies! The hotel also has free internet available. Close to the harbour which is a nice place to find somewhere to eat and for some sight seeing. Would think twice about going there again based only on the sofa beds, would be very cheap and great for a larger group of people though.

Shabby hotel, could do with a large lick of paint. Noisy overnight from other rooms. Breakfast was OK first morning but nothing left on the second morning other than a few rolls. Good overall location, don't waste your money on a taxi from railway station as only 1 stop on the metro.

Stayed here for the Rugby World Cup quarter finals. Booked hotel about 12 months in advance (before the whole city hiked their prices up) and got the normal room rate which made the stay good value for money. One bedroom apartment was a good size - there were three of us and as lounge could be shut off it was almost like two bedrooms. It was clean, reasonably well equipped (we had to buy toilet roll and washing up materials though) and the sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable. Good proximity to port area and a big supermarket. Reception staff were extremely helpful - when I had a query with the bill they were very concerned and when they realised I was right amended it immediately. All in all a good stay for the purposes of that weekend.

I have recently returned from staying at the Citadines Centre Marseille. The apartment was perfect for our six day stay in Marseille. There is a metro station right next door to the Citadines and the Vieux Port is only about 5 mins by foot. The train station is about 10-15mins walk and I got a taxi to the station when I left. I think I got ripped off a little at 15 euros for a 5 minute drive!

Stayed in a quad room which had a seperate double room and a sofa bed. Kitchen facilities. Room was clean and hotel is in a central location, 5 mins walk from harbour. Pity Marseille is such a dirty hole.

Spent 5 nights at the Citadines Marseille Centre in August 2007. We were in room 418, a studio apartment for two people. The fair sized room was clean and freshly decorated with a small balcony that looked out to the back of the hotel. Our stay was pleasant with no particular problems. The sofa-bed was comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. Very minor niggles were the lack of any furniture on the balcony and the missing dishwasher in the kitchen. The location of the hotel is excellent for exploring the city on foot. The St. Charles train station is a 10 minute walk away as is the Old Port and the historic Panier area. We felt the area around the hotel to be safe and, indeed, never felt threatened in any part of Marseille that we ventured into by day or night. In this and many other respects, the city has certainly improved since our last visit eight years ago. Despite the provision of a fully equiped kitchen (the lack of dishwasher notwithstanding), we chose to fully exploit the nearby restaurants instead - enjoying excellent seafood and Provençal cuisine. In particular, I recommend three places - Toinou Dégustation on Cours Saint-Louis for excellent shellfish, Le Quinze on rue des Trois-Rois and Au Lamparo on Place de Lenche for Provençal and traditional cuisine. In all three the service was warm and friendly and the prices very reasonable. In summary, this hotel offers clean, practical accommodation in a very central location.

The Citadines chain is an excellent choice for families or anyone wanting clean, functional apartment accomodation. Our family of four stayed here for two days in July, 2000 in a simple, modern one bedroom apartment with kitchenette. A breakfast buffet was included in the price. It was perfect for getting over jet lag before heading to Arles, the beautiful Camargue region and Nimes. The hotel is easy walking distance to the picturesque old port. Stay here for price, location and convenience. This is a reliable Euro-modern chain hotel.

was advised on arrival room would only be cleaned once during stay. as a tidy and clean person, who respects other peoples property this was cool & we accepted this. it WAS not. Don't expect any clean towels or bedding. more basic than i expected. Booked the accomodation in Jan, price jumped up 60 quid by the time we arrived in June. all in all it was not a bad holiday & appartment has everything you need. You will cert not be woke up at a silly hour for room to be cleaned and it does have a free safe. IN MY EXPERIENCE THIS PLACE REALLY STRUGGLES TO BE 3 STAR. p.s unable to enjoy roof garden ( which part sold the place to me) as work was getting done to it. hey ho? thankfully we had a veranda

this hotel was in good location. 5mins walk2 port where all the shops and restaurants are. i found it extremely clean, dishwasher, microwave, oven, hobs, iron and ironing board all supplied in room, shampoo and towels which was excellent! we stayed in a quad room which had a double bedroom and in the living room was a couch bed and a pull out bed, big tv table and chairs and cd player! i would stay there again if i went to marseille! metro right next to hotel. you can get breakfast in morning til 10 and 10.30 on weekends. we didnt have breakfast there because we slept in, but the restaurant looked nice and if we were up im sure we would have ate there.we had very little french which was the only thing we found hard to communicae sometimes with the workers there as only a few spoke some english where as others had none. definitley good value for 4 of us staying in the quad room, the price was great for a hotel so nice and near to everything!!

Our experience was coloured by the fact that we were almost pickpocketed outside the hotel within an hour of checking-in. I am a seasoned travel and lived in London for 10 years, so am not easily frightened but found the atmosphere around the hotel very intimidating. On the second night, we saw somebody in the ally below ally emptying a bag he had just snatched. Maybe we just had bad luck but after that we were paranoid. Marseilles is very beautful but stay as far away from the train station as possible. Otherwise, the hotel was fine and was good value.
