Ended up with single beds, sure we ordered a double have in all our travels. Room numbers did not exist up and down lift and stairs, cleaning ladies could not help us, told us at desk bit of a joke, we were very hot and tired from travelling did not see funny side. Later at bar gave our room no. and barman said no such number! ask yourself.... Breakfast poor.

The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. We spent 40 euro in taxi's each day just to get to local attractions. If it wasn't for the outdoor shopping center across the street, we would have left!!! The staff was not helpful on any level. No recommendations for restaurants, did not even know where the Tour De France was going to be in the city. Room service is limited, dinner city-wide doesn't start until 7 p.m. That would have been helpful to know. If traveling with children, just pay the money and stay at the Sofitel in View Port. I would describe this Best western as blah, blah, blah. Pass it up!!

We stayed in the Best Western Marseille Bonneveine Prado hotel in October this year. Rooms were a good size but not very comfortable and in need of refurbishment. The hotel is about 40 mins by taxi from Marseille situated in a suburban setting with poor transport. Due to a local transport strike we were forced to take a very expensive taxi ride as there was no other alternative. We found the Best Western booking service unhelpful and discovered that the rates they quoted when their fee is added were in fact greater than if we had booked directly with the hotel. Certainly would not use them again. The Best Western chain seems to be a franchise of independently run hotels with the Best Western badge so standards seem to vary and we found much better value locally with other chains such as IBIS. One to miss. Josh

Certainly this is a modern 3 star (french standard) hotel, and on this basis we see no reason for complaint. Would easily rate 3+ (probably 4) stars in Australia. Rooms are large (especially so for French standards) with queen size double bed, pay tv with english selections, ample room for luggage (at least 3 metres between end of bed and the large service bench which double as desk, tv stand, breakfast bar. Our sons twin room was of same size and standard. Bathroom large, excellent condition - tiling in good shape, and spotless. Obviously attention has been paid to the maintenance. A room across the corridore, I spied was set up with seperate lounge/sitting room, leather couch. Very nice. Building is approximately 20 years old and shows evidence of good maintenance, within the limits of earlier design. Staff were friendly and helpful within limited capacity... not the concierge standard of higher rated hotel. Front desk spoke good english by at least 4 people we dealt with over 3 days, during busy Rugby World Cup week-end, when not a bed is to be found in Marseille. Cleaning staff friendly, but little english. Breakfast dining room has a delightful extension into the lawn garden area and again on on par standard meals available. small self serve buffet selection, but cereals and scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese, croissants, fruit juice etc. Ample quantity, even if staff needed to be asked to top up the warming trays, which was done without fuss, even after the official closing time of 10 am. Distance from town may be a problem for some. Bus transport is close, but we favoured the 20-25 Euro taxi fare to the old port district (15 mins depending on time of day). Taxis arrived within minutes of being called. Wireless internet is available for a small fee, but as the speed is only 14kbps and frequent drop out, and I elected to use dial-up at 56k with toll free numbers setup via with chargeback to my local supplier at home (internode), which worked flawlessly. If three/ four star is your standard you wont be dissappointed.
