Location. The Hotel Philippe Le Bon in Dijon, France, is located in the historic centre of the town and occupies three buildings dating back to the 15th century, arranged around a courtyard and gardens. Brick tile floors covered with Asian style rugs, dark wood wainscoating and an exposed brick wall with a fireplace, lend the hotel's restaurant, Les Oenophiles, a rustic charm. Tables dressed in white linens and the soft glow of lamp light add a touch of elegance. The chef at Les Oenophiles varies his French dishes according to which foods are currently in season. The 32 guestrooms at the Hotel Philippe Le Bon feature exposed beams from the building's original timber frame. Beware standard rooms The advantages of Philippe Le Bon are its central location and the availability of secure car parking. I am told that the superioir rooms are excellent but beware the standard rooms overlooking the street- they are cramped, shabby and it dire need of a make over. Even allowing for the fact that they are relatively cheap for central Dijon does not make up for the tired decor, poor fittings and outdated furnishings. If a superioir room is availble then fine but I suggest looking elsewhere if only availabity is the standard room

quiet and welcoming Dijon is very friendky and laid back, good just to wander the old streets, sit at an open air cafe and watch the Dijonnais go by. Also do book at the tourist office to climb the Philippe le Bon tower for a great view.

Definitely not three stars Friendly staff were not enough to compensate for a room which was definitely not 3 star but for which we paid a "superior room" supplement. For the price, the breakfast buffet was barely OK, and the breakfast room a windowless basement. Beware internet maps that show the hotel in completely the wrong part of Dijon (not the hotel's fault though). Pluses: location (once we found it) and car parking.

Adequate but not outstanding Hotel is functional and clean. Free off-street parking parking is a bonus. We were initally placed in a tiny room with small window and low headroom on one side; this was unsuitable for 2 people. At our request we were moved to a slightly bigger room with a large window. Staff were helpful with our request.
