We arrived in Dijon to find our original booking was not available so were referred on to the city lofts. No problem until we started to unpack and look around. On the up side the appartment was quite spacious and well set out but what a mess. The bathroom had an open shower that was thick with soapscum. At least 1mm thick. But it was the kitchen that was beyond belief. The fridge was black. The microwave was filthy with dried food. The glassesplates were dirty in fact there was actually lumps of whatever on them. Also the couchcovers had dried food on them. All this we ignored, cleaned the dishes and got on with it.Until after 2 days of hanging the please clean the room sign on the door without any response we headed for reception asking for fresh towels, toilet paper and clean kithchen towels to be told no.You must pay for towels here is some toilet paper. Please! We have travelled through Europe including Morocco and stayed in all sorts of places. This was the worstdirtiest.Considering it is supposed to be 3*.Is it too much to ask after spending 250 euro for a small amount of service? Even in the most basic accom.this service is a must. The price per night is as expensive as some 4* hotels. So come on citylofts if you want customers provide the service.

My fiancee and I stayed at the City Loft as part of a group trip, so we did not personally select this hotel. We actually had two separate stays, one 5-night and one 3-night. The rooms were modern and nicely decorated. They were of a good size, with two twin beds that were of course very small by U.S. standards, but seemed new and were comfortable. The rooms included a kitchenette, complete with mini-fridge (not stocked), stove, microwave and dishes. The dishes were very disappointing, however, as they were dirty in both rooms. That is disgusting! There was an old sponge under the sink, but no dish soap, so the dishes were mostly pretty useless. The other disappointing thing was that we did not receive daily housekeeping, but I think that is an optional item that our group tour neglected to include. The towels were small and thin, and the one extra pillow included in the rooms was old and yellow with no pillowcase. If it wasn't for the dishes and the missing pillowcase I would have given the hotel a higher rating. The location, however, was perfect, in the center of the historic area of old Dijon. There is a great Kebab place two doors down if you're into that sort of thing. Also, skip the expensive low-quality breakfast the hotel offers and take a left turn out the front door to the Boulangerie on the corner for a morning treat.

I trusted our travel agent to select this hotel for us for a two night stay (silly me!) It has three stars but does not deserve them. To my horror, I was badly bitten by bed bugs there-about 40 bites that lasted for weeks. When I arrived home I treated our luggage thoroughly, afraid that we might infect our home. The rooms in the hotel are very large and have a kitchenette. The bathroom was fine, except for partly broken shower head. Our "non smoking room" stank of smoke. The "double bed" was two fold-out beds pushed together, very low and with spikey bits sticking up near our feet. The reception staff pretty much ignored us. They were the only staff we saw as the rooms were not serviced (no bed made, no dry towels). It was on a busy, noisy corner, which was okay with the double glazed window shut, but not okay if you needed fresh air because of the cigarette stink. The air conditioning was so loud that we switched it off and stayed cold, rather than put up with the noise. It was altogether a depressing stay in Dijon.

A friend of ours living in Dijon recommended this hotel - and he was absolutely right. It's a wonderful base to explore this fascinating city. The room was HUGE - probably 45m2 and extremely comfortable. The fully functional kitchen was greatly appreciated. Several other reviewers have noted that their rooms were dirty, but we certainly didn't find this at all. It maybe could have been cleaner, but it certainly wasn't dirty. Location is perfect. Highly recommended, particularly if you're staying for more than one night or travelling with your family. Tip - don't take breakfast in the hotel. There is a plethora of high-quality patisseries within a few steps of the front door. Grab some croissants and enjoy them in the comfort of your spacious appartment!
