Waldstien Hotel Prague

Valdstejnske Namesti 6 - 11000 Prague

This 4-star charming, historical hotel is perfectly located in the historical heart of the city in the Lesser Town, only a short walk from Charles Bridge and close to Prague Castle. The hotel provides comfortable accommodation with period features and a lot of character in a tranquil and picturesque location. The hotel is set in Mala Strana (Lesser Town) and is surrounded by ancient burgher houses and charming, narrow and cobbled streets. The hotel is very near the Waldstein Gardens and only a short up-the-hill walk to the Prague Castle. It is also only a 5-min walk to Charles Bridge and about 20-min walk to the historical Old Town on the other side of the river. From the nearest metro station it is only 2 stops to the famous Wenceslas Square. The hotel area is very prestigious with a lot of embassies located there. It is very quiet in comparison with the Old Town, yet there are plenty of good restaurants and bars in the proximity. The hotel is housed in a historical 3-storey building dating back from 1700s. Due to the buildinga euro s preserved architectural features, the building was included in the Czech National Immovable Heritage List. The hotel also has a picturesque courtyard through which some of the rooms are accessed. There is no lobby area in the hotel, only a small lounge with a free internet corner. Rooms vary in size due to the historical nature of the building. The dAccor also varies, some have vaulted, wood-beam or painted ceilings and some have canopy beds. They are all decorated in a traditional style with antique furniture and have plenty of old-charm atmosphere. Bathrooms are modern, some with baths and some with showers only. They come equipped with all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay, including ceiling fans and free Wi-Fi internet access. A hot and cold breakfast buffet is served in a charming converted vaulted cellar in the basement. Please note that there is no elevator in the building and therefore not suitable for those with mobility problems. However, the bellboy will be happy to assist.

Great location, with character We selected this hotel because our visit valued location in a historic neighborhood, proximity to ancient treasures, immediate access to public transportation, and being ’in character’ with historic Prague. The hotel room was not comfortable, but we didn’t spend much time there. We didn’t travel this far to stay in our room. The continental breakfast was excellent.

Wonderful & quaint hotel! This was a wonderful hotel in the perfect location for visiting Prague. It was very close to everything -- and its parking lot touches the Czech senate! The hotel is a bit quaint compared to bright and luxurious American hotels, but that just serves to add to the experience. In addition to the nice rooms, the hotel had the biggest continental breakfast I’ve ever seen. I never want to stay anywhere else in Prague and I can definitely highly recommend this hotel. I will return! Traveler's tip on dining There is a wonderful little Afghani restaurant called Kabul in the area around Narodni Trida -- it had excellent food and very reasonable prices. Go at odd times (have a late lunch or early dinner) and you will have the little one room restaurant to yourself.

Quaint Hotel in heart of Prague Nice hotel in historic building. Our 4 bed, 3 room apartment was perfect for our family. Clean, well stocked, helpful staff. While not luxurious by any means was certainly adequate. Breakfast was very good.

Somewhat disappointing Waldstein Hotel Waldstein Hotel is well-located in the Mala Strana, quite close to the Charles Bridge. Walking from the hotel to nearly any attraction in Prague is an option for the active traveler. Public transportation is abundant and nearby. Rooms in the adjacent annex are categorized as Deluxe Apartments with a small kitchenette. Shower is located in one room and the toilet in another. This does not make for convenient one stop shopping. The room is adequate with older furniture and decor. There was no convenient drawer or shelf space for unpacking, and the armoire had no pole for hanging garments. Breakfast was included and quite good, served in a charming old cellar with arched ceilings. The reception and hotel staff are fluent in English, friendly and very helpful. The major flaw in this hotel is the rather noisy courtyard and hallways with loud conversations often preventing peaceful sleep. Some of the annex rooms are occupied by permanent residents who are not sensitive to the needs of travelers. I would choose more comfortable accommodations in the same area for future visits. Traveler's tip Avoid using the cabs waiting outside the main train station. They routinely charge 4-5 times the going rate for a short ride, using a printed rate sheet to create the appearance of official approval. The ride from train station to the Old Town is listed at 39 Euros, while a legitimate taxi using the meter rarely charges more than $10 US for any ride in town. Walk one block from the station, or call for a AAA or City taxi. David Restaurant near the American Embassy is superb.
