Villa Schwaiger
Schwaigerova 3-59 - 16000 Prague
The late 19th century Villa Schwaiger, once home to famous Czech artist Hanus Schwaiger, is set in terraced gardens three kilometres from Prague Castle, and four from Wenceslas Square. The 22 modern guestrooms are decorated in warm cream and beige tones, and include air conditioning, cable television, direct dial phones, wireless Internet, and minibars. Bathrooms are complete with complimentary toiletries and hair dryers. Guests can experience total relaxation in the candlelit mini spa with beauty and massage treatments, and a sauna. Cocktails are served out on the terraces overlooking the gardens with live bands and DJs playing outside; a private room can be hired for weddings or business functions and can hold up to 30 people. Steakhouse El Gaucho serves authentic Argentinian cuisine with a speciality in steaks. Guests can dine in the restaurant's rustic wooden setting or out in the 500 square metre gardens. Guests can plan sightseeing itineraries on the wireless Internet, exchange currency at the 24 hour front desk, and ask staff for tips on local attractions. Within three kilometres of the hotel guests can visit ninth century Prague Castle, climb the 287 steps of the French Gothic St Vitus's Cathedral, admire the 16th century art at the National Gallery, or explore the city with a boat trip on the Vltava. The hotel is 10 kilometres from Prague Ruzyne Airport.

good choice of accomodation There are several inexpensive bars and restaurants within easy walking distance from the villa These give you a chance to try out local foods and wines. Travelling around the city is fairly easy and I recommend buying a travel card when you arrive at the airport as then you can hop on any tram, bus or train during your visit without having to worry about costs. please remember to validate your ticket when you first use it this will avoid any nasty fines.

The hotel has two types of rooms. Luxury and standard. Standard means a room under the roof, no windows, no elevator. The light in the corridor was out and wasn't repaired in 4 days, the A/C unit was out of order (no temp control) and the shower was eithe

OK...had problems, but OK Everything seemed expensive compared to England, so be prepared to spend. Public transport is really convenient, but be prepared if planning on going out of Prague by bus on your own. Went to Kutna Hora, and found no-one at information services at the bus station, and hardly anyone spoke English. Bus timetable back to Prague was wrong, and a large group of us ended up waiting for over 2hours for a bus back . Met alot of pretty rude and bad-mannered people. Probably best to know the language.

Our stay at the Villa Schaiger was very very good. It was our first time in Prague and we were welcomed by the hotel staff, they were very helpful (spoke English). The rooms were all that we'd hoped for, bathroom was great (lots of space & great water p

Quiet refuge Villa Schweiger is a lovely, but not luxurious small hotel in a quiet neighborhood of embassies, close to two large parks. Prague center and the castle are pleasant walks or two tram or Metro stops away. No passenger elevator in the hotel - just a lift for your bags. It was nice to get away from the crowds after a day of sightseeing, and there are very nice restaurants in the area that are much cheaper than downtown. Service was unobtrusive, but helpful; very good complimentary breakfast. It is a 6 or 7 minute easy walk to public transportation. Didn’t try the hotel restaurant, but if you like Czech pub fare and inexpensive beer, go right across the street. We would definitely return. Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks When you need a break in Central Prague take the time to find an out-of-the-way spot. Tea, coffee or beer can be triple the price at a place right on a popular street. If you’re through for the day try dining outside of Old or New Towns or Mala Strana. You can save a lot of money and still eat quite well.

4 stars minus 2 Eat at the restaurant across the street from VS. Get water from the mini market also across the street.Always bargain for cab fares in advance. Book your own boat ride on the Vltava. Fresh fruit at the end of the #131 bus line. Do visit Terezienstadt and Josefov and be aware of the cruelty that gave birth to today's historical sites. It is puzzling but interpretive.

We were staying in room 203. The first surprise were the 2 roof-windows, which provided NO view outside and which prove to be a problem when we needed to put our 2-year old for a nap. It was impossible to darken the room. During the first 40 minute
