We loved the Iron Gate Hotel The Iron Gate Hotel is a lovely hotel in a perfect location. Our 2 story royal suite was spacious and only a minute’s walk to Old Town Square. The staff was always courteous and helpful. They arranged taxis, gave us directions and offered advice on attractions. Breakfast was delicious with a selection of both hot and cold items. We would love to stay at the Iron Gate Hotel again.

Beautiful historic hotel The Iron Gate was a beautiful hotel built in the 13th century and wonderfully restored. It was located within a block of Old Town Square. The service was outstanding. The concierge service was very helpful. highly recommended.

The Iron Gate - Prague The hotel was in a great location in Old Town, The rooms were truly beautiful- however no soundproofing- noise from nearby bars was a problem. Hotel does not have a lobby or public areas to speak of. They would not allow us to check in till afternoon, as there was no place to sit, we had to hit the streets at 9 am and roam. Later, we found out there is a room with a couch where the "free" internet is - they could easily have offered it to us to sit in for a while as that room is always locked and empty, unless someone goes in to check mail. I guess we would have preferred a "real" hotel. Traveler's tip on dining There are not mnny good Prague restaurants, therefore it is hard to get reservations. Book your restaurants in advance - 24 hours does not do it.

Iron Gate Great My wife and I were very happy with our choice of the IRON GATE HOTEL. Our non-smoking room was clean, very spacious, well equipped, and comfortable. The staff were excellent. The location could not have been better, just a 5 minute walk to the heart of Old Town Prague. If ever we return to Prague, we will stay at Iron Gate.

Very pleased with our choice of hotel Our hotel room was much larger than I expected. We never heard any noise from the neighboring rooms. The breakfast was more than ample and we were able to select something different to eat every day. The front staff was very helpful. I could not be more pleased with the location just a short distance to everything. It was very easy to drop by the hotel and drop off purchases or pick up a jacket for the evening. Highly recommend to any traveler going to Prague.

Great Location This hotel is within easy walking distance of all of the best sites in Prague, and very conveniently situated around very good restaurants. However, the front desk and concierge staff seemed too new at their positions to answer questions about the city and upcoming events. The rooms were very poorly lit and our room had an upstairs loft for the sleeping area. Very steep steps to climb in the dark! The bathrooms have old fashioned hair dryers that don’t actually dry much of anything. The location is great, but the hotel amenities aren’t really on par with a 4 star hotel. Traveler's tip I absolutely recommend Prague Airport Transfers for service in and out of the airport. The driver was friendly, spoke very good English, and actually gave better sightseeing tips than anyone at our hotel. This company is a delight!

Charming hotel; great location. This is a charming, old-world style hotel, a 2 minute walk to the Old Town Square. The front and back streets are very narrow (for cars). The front street, Michalska, dead-ends (for cars) 50 feet past the front entrance (that’s one passage to the town square), so there’s not much traffic, making it a very quiet location. There is a small lobby, and they will store your luggage if you arrive early. The staff is very attentive and courteous. There is a nice sized computer and sitting room, accessable with a key attached to your room key. We did not see any of the "views" pictured on their website because many of the rooms seem to face the interior, small court yard, but that’s no big deal. Also, to access the rooms in that area one must walk outside to the elevator. The computer room is also accessible from the court yard, outside. In late April (2008) the A/C is not on (the room is somewhat warm until early morning), so we kept the windows wide open always. Also, we took the quilt ("feather bed") out of it’s sheet. We quite enjoyed our stay there. TIP: Dont do laundry at the hotel... its very expensive. A load of laundry at a laundry-mat could have cost maybe $5. The hotels laundry service charged 3000 KC (about $200). The prices were clearly marked in Czech Korunas, but my son didn’t know the conversion rate to USD. The hotel ended up taking off a third. That was nice of them. (The desk clerk probably felt somewhat responsible.)

Great hotel, great location Staff was very helpful at check-in and the hotel courtyard was beautiful. The room was quite large and comfortable. Location is fantastic with short walks through narrow winding roads to the Old Town and Charles Bridge. The hotel is difficult to get to by road, strongly suggest taxi service rather than driving!

The bed wasn’t so comfortable There wasn’t a one big bed but two separate beds with some space between them. It was really uncomfortable for us. Everything else was good.
