Gorgeous, historic hotel, great location We loved our stay at Hotel Metamorphis. It is a beautiful, historic hotel that is a few blocks from the main square. Our double room was big and bright with a large tiled bathroom decorated in Tuscan colors. The hotel had free internet at the computer next to the front desk. The breakfast buffet in the charming cellar restaurant was delicious and offered a wide variety of food. Hotel Metamorphis was our favorite hotel of our trip. We would definitely stay here again.

Very enjoyable stay in this hotel-with-character, right in the centre of Prague, behind Old Town Square. We had a quite luxurious room, very spacious and well appointed, with mini bar (useful for storing our own water and milk from the nearby corner shop), kettle & tea/coffee –making facilities (maybe bring your own tea bag supply, Czech tea doesn’t have much oomph, it’s more like the little old lady tea drunk in e.g.France!) , large 4 pce shower room (incl. bidet – great for footsore tootsies!) with useful hairdryer in bathroom cabinet, efficient air conditioning in room, and interesting view of the old church of St James behind us (amazingly ornate church wall fresco opposite our bedroom windows). Slight downside was that we also overlooked an occasionally noisy pub called the Chapeau Rouge; although it was very busy every night, its patrons only kept us awake one night out of the 4 we were there, strangely enough on the Monday night rather than Friday or Saturday! You could keep most of the noise out by shutting both the inner and outer windows (using air con to cool the room) and even when it was a little noisy, it was always entertaining watching the ever-changing street scene below! I noticed some people complained about the church bells, but for me that was part of the charisma of the place, I quite enjoyed hearing them, and also when the church doors were open, you were treated to a wonderful organ recital! Location was a big plus, we were just a minute from the beautiful old square in the heart of Old Town, and we walked everywhere from there. The cobbles were a bit uneven so no high heels, flat shoes a necessity. Due to variable reports about the Vabene restaurant, we only had the included breaky, but we had great fun using the free wifi on our amazing new Apple i-phone, to track down some memorable eateries in the Josefov Jewish quarter 5 minutes away; favourites were the very reasonable and quirky Afghan restaurant Ariana in Ramova Street (preferred it to Orange Moon, the Thai place across the road) and Nostress the French/Asian fusion place opposite the Spanish Synagogue in Dusni St. Very flavoursome cooking and interesting ambience at very reasonable prices compared to equivalent in UK, we thought. Take the waiter’s advice re what goes with what in the afghani place, he’s a bit of a character but he knows his food! Metamorphis breakfast was fine, maybe not the best I’ve had, but lots of tasty options, and you’d be awfully picky if you couldn’t find something to eat which is more than enough to keep you going until dinner; didn’t like the hot dog style sausages myself, but the bacon was surprisingly tasty – better than it first appeared to be, and fried or scrambled eggs were ok’ish. Fresh fruit/cereal/pastry options plus usual cheese slices ham etc – shame about the watered down fruit juices, and the god-awful repetitive music tape, which is still echoing in my head, what appeared to be the entire back catalogue of Czech eurovision song entries for the past 30 years- aargh! Beds were a little on the hard side but hey, rather that than too soft IMHO. Staff were helpful and booked us a taxi from the airport for CKY 750 each way, which was a bit pricey, but we didn’t fancy the rather awkward public transport cheapy option. Next time we might try the CEDAZ minibus transfer which was a compromise, tho sometimes we’ve found that sort of thing can take ages while you wait for other travellers/have to be picked up 3 hours early sort of thing... Best thing about the experience –other than the great location -was the amazing value really – we booked through www.hotelscombined.com , which is a fairly new Aussie comparison website which scrolls through all the ‘cheap’ hotel booking sites, and finds you the best deal from all of them, which can save you a fortune per night. We were able to book the 4 nights for 200 euros in total for the room including breakfast, which has to have been one of the best value stays we have ever experienced! – A fantastic hotel for less than Travel lodge prices and breakfast thrown in as well – who could ask for more! I believe they normally charge up to 3 times this price, so maybe we were just lucky.

We could not fault the Metamorphis. It is very well-located and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to look after us. We went there with both our mothers for my Mum's 70th birthday and they picked up on this (without be

would definately go back prague castle is within walking distance over the beautiful charles bridge. Follow the map to lesser town down from the castle. Take a camera as the sights and architecture is fantastic. Designer shopping is off to the right of the old town sq on a lovely broad boulevard. cheaper shopping can be found on wenceslas sq to the leftof old town sq. Excursion to karlstejn castle was excellent situated outside prague in lush countryside.

Excellent choice! An excellent hotel by any standard. Close to everything you need to see in Prague. Great restaurant and excellent breakfast. If you need English language TV and a gym, rethink your reasons for traveling in the first place. One suggestion: beds a bit hard. Asked for a double, which should not be two singles stuck together.

A Wonderful Weekend I booked a transfer from the airport with Prague Airport Transfers, found on the internet. They were extremely efficient and also gave a free walking tour of the town which was most interesting.
