We stayed at the Maximilian for four.We selected the hotel because they said it had been"completely" renovated in 2005. A glance at the facade will reveal that is not "completely" true. My room looked recently painted but the bathroom was most definitely not part of the previous years's "complete renovation".The paint chipped chairs in the bedrooms and the badly darned hole in the net curtains were not worthy of a four-star hotel.

My 15 year old son and I stayed at this extraordinary small hotel in Prague in April, 2004. It is a one-time villa turned into a hotel by the Golden Tulip chain and it is seriously worth considering for value, location and comfort. The internet is full of good reviews, which is how we found it. It is off the beaten track, which in Prague is a gift because the city is jampacked with tourists and can bring on fatigue from rubbing elbows all day long. This hotel is an oasis. Service is superb, rooms are bigger than average, and there's a lovely (tho small) lounge with free tea and coffee and Internet access available until midnight. Breakfast is substantial and well served, clientele is interesting and the general amenities are high end. There is also a hotel car that can be booked and used like a taxi, but it's also easy walking distance to the main square and other tourist areas. We were blown away. Eileen, Toronto

We just stayed here in July 2005. It's newly renovated with well appointed modern rooms. Very comftrble beds and pillows. Free internet and incredible full breakfast included. The hotel is well located minutes from the Old Town Square and Jewish Quarter.

Stayed there for 2 nights in Aug'06. Fully remodelled. Beware of the 6th floor as the elevator goes only to Floor 5. You will tote a heavy luggage up in a dark stairway. Checking policy is at 2 pm but our room was not available then. Limited view of rooftops...Anyone can walk in the hotel after closing hours at 22:00 hrs. The security lacks/ nonexistent. The lobby was not attended after that. Close to attractions but not cheap. For 200 Euros you can do better for the same quality. Free internet access. Garage for 25 Euro/day. OK breakfast included. You get a small bottle of Austrian wine. Owned by Austrians.

Not outstanding, but good. Try the meat platter at Kolkovna - crazy amount of meat!

We stayed at the Maximillian during April, 2006. The location is fantastic; the staff was out of this world in terms of professionalism, courtesy, and a cooperative attitude; our room was outstanding and well appointed; free internet access was provided; and breakfast each morning was abundant and of the highest quality. Recently renovated, the hotel now has added room service.

Fantastic Location with excellent spa Just blocks away from Old Town Square. Quaint neighborhood, however, Hotel Maximimilian is very modern with very upscale rooms, lobby reading area, "honor bar" lounge and free internet. The spa was fantastic, in fact, had 2 massages that were outstanding & only stayed for 3 days!

Great hotel in a very convenient location We stayed at the Maximillian in the run-up to Christmas 2007 on a short weekend break to Prague. For what we were after - a comfortable hotel, good size bedroom, convenient location - it had everything. It was only a few minutes walk from the Old Town Square (but far enough away so that the hotel itself was in a quiet and pleasant street). The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful; both the main room and the bathroom were a decent size and the bed was enormous! As for food, we went for the room only option, but that gave us the option of eating when and where we wanted. The recommendation for breakfast would have to be the Bake Shop on the way to the Old Town Square where you can eat Pain au Chocolat and watch the world go by! All in all, a very good hotel which I would definitely consider going back to.
