We were given a nice room on the first floor with a great outlook over the bay. However we did need to open the windows for a while to let the room air. Air conditioning was a little underpowered. The hotel's location is pretty good, near the endless Izmir waterfront promenade, the ferries, the Asansor. If you're bothered by traffic noise you may have a problem. We did however have considerable difficulty communicating in English to the desk staff. When we asked for a city map they gave us one in German and took some convincing that it was not in English (of which they had none). They could not tell us anything about the content of a day tour to Ephesus that they offered to arrange - and would not give us a brochure as they only had one. We ended up arranging that with a travel agent in town. The restaurant is not bad and reasonably priced. Breakfast buffet also fine, with reasonable waitstaff.

We stayed here recently and really enjoyed our time there. It is right across the street from the waterfront and great walking distance (5-7 minutes) from Konak Square and the ferry dock. The staff was extremely helpful and hospitable. They extended my check-out time 'til 3pm with no questions asked. The bed was pretty horrible, but other than that - the room was spacious enough with a good bathroom. We stayed in room 407 whiich looks directly at the water. However, the room was on a smoking floor (there is only one non-smoking floor) and that got old really fast. But there are great sliding doors that open on to a balcony which gave us some fresh air. We had a great view!!!! Although this is rated as a 2 star hotel, it's rated as a 4 star in Turkey. I definitely recommend this hotel if you don't mind a really soggy bed. We would stay there again.

Hotel Konak is a solid place to stay in Izmir. Rooms are nicely layed out with huge windows for views. Breakfast was a bit above average and there was service with a smile! It is a short walk to the museum but a long walk to the water front area with the restaurants so keep that in mind, even though the site says "city center". We ended up taking a Taxi back to the hotel after dining at one of the good restaurants in that area. Service was quite good. A couple things kept me from giving a higher rating. There were two people in the room but only one pair of slippers. The description of the room says bathrobe, slippers, clock and complimentary newspaper. No clock, no bathrobe and no newspaper. These are small items that do make a difference. There was also a exhaust-type smell in the public areas that must have come from the heaters. This was not good at all, giving me an instant headache. I think we will try Crown Plaza next time but the Konak can still be recommended.

The hotel is pretty good. The rooms were decent size and the beds were comfortable enough. The room had a partial sea view which was very pretty. There was wireless Internet access but it didn't work very well. The staff was friendly enough but spoke limited English so they weren't very helpful with information. The breakfast was great, there was a large selection of fresh fruit in addition to eggs and meat. Overall, it was a decent hotel in Izmir.

The hotel is located on the main road approximately 400metres from thequay at Izmir. Hotel was clean and modern and the costs for staying did include the buffet breakfast as well as dinner. The choice of dinner was limited but we still enjoyed it. Our room had a great view over the harbour and we basically parked the car and walked everywhere. We only stayed one night as we had to be elsewhere. We like Izmir as a city and found the shopping pretty good. Staff were friendly and couteous.
