The Khao San Road and surrounding area of Banglampu is the hub of the backpacker's hostels in Bangkok. This is the place where you can find rooms for just a few dollars a night – as long as you don't mind being kept awake by the music from the street. But Bangkok hotels range from the budget to the luxury. Most of the high-end hotels are located on the Chao Praya River and in the Silom area. Some of the more famous hotels in Bangkok include the Banyan Tree, which has a rooftop bar overlooking the city, the legendary Oriental with views over the Chao Praya River and the Shangri-La, set in lush tropical gardens.
