Love the Hotel. Just a warning: Room service is very spendy for what you get. Other then that it is amazing. Best place to stay.

The Oriental is a real bargain compared to similar levels of service in the states and Europe. If you are going to Thailand and want to treat yourself, you wouldn't go wrong staying here. Just make sure to bring one thing nice to wear for your stay.

Rates: $250 - $2000 a night. Yikes. Definitely only one night for us- we're happier when we spend less, but it was an amazing brief interlude of luxury, which my pregnant wife appreciated greatly. If you can, spend a night or two here, but if you're on a budget, don't linger too long.

. If you want it, they will get it for you without murmur. A nearly seamless balance of the old and charming and the new and swift, the Oriental gives you the best of both worlds.

All in all, this was a real treat and when compared to what you must pay in the United States for a hotel of this quality, it was a real bargain! We look forward to someday returning to Bangkok, and without a doubt, the Oriental will be our hotel of choice.

When I decided to go to Bangkok, I had to stay at the Oriental. Why? History! So many famous writers stayed here, I had imagined to sit, be inspired, and perhaps write the next great novel... Well, I sat and was inspired, but no book came from it. But the hotel was everything I hoped for. I say it was two hotels in one because when we first arrived we were sheparded up the elevators to a very nice but very modern room... I thought to myself, this can't be right. I want romance, I want mystery, I don't want a characterless room with a view. So I did what any savvy traveller does - I complained. I specifically ordered a room in the old part of the hotel, and with minimal fuss, was moved to a much nicer, much more atmospheric room. This was more like it! It even had a writing hutch semi concealed behind the entry stairs. The bed was wonderful, the seating room delicious, and the view inspired.
