The Royal Asia Lodge Bangkok was well situated in Soi 8 just off the Sukumvit Road a popular location for both tourists and ex-pats due to the many bars and restaurants iin the vicinity. The hotel supplied a shuttle vehicle from the hotel to the sukumvit road (approximately 500 meters away) at your conveience. The hotel rooms were very basic with poor TV channels (no BBC or CNN) most channels being in Thai. The rooms were clean and were serviced well every day and the staff were very polite at all times. If travelling on my own again to Bangkok I would stay there again due to its location.

Great location of the hotel (very silent area for Bangkok, however centrally located. Breakfast will be charged, even though room booked with breakfast included!! Actually hotel is recommendable, apart from discussion about the breakfast (check in advance with the hotel, or hotel.info)

Room size was large. Hotel was a little too far back from Sukumvit Road overall good value for the money though.

I arrived at night. Taxi driver wouldn't go down to the end of the soi, I had to walk. Web info says it's 'close to everything.' It is if you consider third-world construction sites, including in the lobby of the building I was in, you have to step around piles of dirt. Close to night shopping, if you agree a 25 minute taxi ride to Patpong is close. It claims to be three star. One is charitable. I fled as quickly as I could the next day. Unless you're willing to REALLY REALLY rough it, go completely native, you do not want to stay here, at any price.

We booked a junior suite to end our stay in Thailand. First thing we noticed was the poor state of the bathroom, both dirty and in need of refurbishment. Kitchen was also very poor, such that we didn't want to use it. The bedroom and living area were OK, but clearly hadn't been dusted recently, and there was an old whiskey bottle in the freezer compartment of the fridge. Cleanliness is obviously not a priority for this hotel. Rooftop pool very small and also dirty, jacuzzi broken. Free tuktuk to sukhumvit road small consolation.

I found this to be well overpriced, do not even get any complimentary drinking water in the room. Very good location.
