Not impressed with New Empire Bangkok The condition of the New Empire hotel Bangkok was below average. The condition of the bedroom was not the best. Wallpaper was piling off the wall in places but the room itself was clean. Although the bathroom was not up to even a 2 star hotels standard. The toliet leaked when flushed and the shower area had flee like creatures living in it. I was not impressed at all with this hotel and was glad I was only there for one evening. AVOID

the only thing that is good abt this is the location, in the chinatown area. the hotel is old and needs upgrading , however for the price they are charging is okay for budget travellers, and for those that only need a bed and shower.

The New Empire Hotel is pretty run down, the room i stayed in has wall paper peeling off, however, the sheets were clean, bathroom was clean and the air con was working so can't complain.Definitely won't stay here if i want a bit of luxury, but i chose this purely for the proximity to the Hualumphong Train station, you can't beat the location though, it is right in the middle of chinatown, you definitely won't go hungry!

Not impressed, but priced fairly for what was there Great front desk and maid service and has a good central location in China Town. The free meal was a waste of time for food and service. The overall condition of the Hotel reflected its age and badly needs a paint job. I would stay there again but not with my wife or family. The room was ok good bed and AC but needed paint.

i was rather taken aback by the condition of the hotel building and its room. It really needs refurbishment and touch up. Although the front office and staff are generally helpful. The condition is really bad and probably meant for backpackers. The distance to he MRT station is far and complexing. First time traveller will probably lost mid way. The breakfast is totally beyond expectation with limited choice. Overall, it needs massive improvement and i dont think i will book them again!

Perfect for the budget traveller who is interested in a place to sleep and a clean working bathroom. The free breakfast is good though after 4 days stay you will be eating the same dish again. No refill for coffee or tea {or even water.. funny) It is located in the heart of Chinatown. Note: Never praise Mr. Taksin Shinawatra (their disposed PM) in front of anyone in the front office unless you want your head to be bitten off.

Very basic room and facilities. Broken lid on jug, (very dangerous), & no refrigeration. Room size OK & clean...Shocking bathroom. No seperate shower, curtain or drainage. Had to stand in own shower water every time I entered the room... Service OK BUT, on day of departure I was charged for all the coffee, tea, creamer & sugar that I used. There was no signage stipulating that it was not complimentary. I have travelled the world & this is the only hotel that charges for these items.... OK location for walking distance to China Town but no public transport handy. Must use a taxi to go to nearest railway station.... Restaurant small but good with lovely meals. Staff have very little comprehention of understanding or speaking the English language, except when it comes to paying for the 3 tea bags that I used...NO way will I stay in this hotel again..NOT RECOMMENDED..! OK for budget travellers with plenty of patience....

No. I did not enjoy my stay at the New Empire Hotel. I am still having nightmares thinking about it. I have never stopped at such a grotty place in my life.
