Emerald Hotel Bangkok

Emerald Hotel Bangkok

99/1 Ratchadapisek Road, Din Daeng - 10400 Bangkok

Opened in 1992 and continually upgraded, The Emerald Hotel is located in the midst of one of Bangkok's busiest commercial and entertainment hubs. Unlike most major cities there is no "central or downtown" Bangkok.. Instead there are three or four different areas of the city which all provide shopping, entertainment and business facilities. The Emerald Hotel is in one of these areas on Rachadapisek Road, locally abbreviated to "Rachada". The hotel is conveniently located within 2 minutes walk from one of Bangkok's new underground (MRT) stations, making it quickly accessible to almost any part of the city. Train journeys ranging from 10- 20 minutes will take you to some of the other well known areas - Sunhumvit & Siam Square. Using the MRT and above ground Sky Train connection you can also easily get to Chaopaya River where river cruise boats depart regularly from underneath the station. Travelling in the opposite direction on the MRT from the hotel you can also directly access Bangkok's famous Weekend Market - Chatuchak. This 620 room hotel has well appointed rooms and suites in two buildings. All guest rooms are luxuriously furnished and tastefully decorated in soft, pastel colours which reflect a warm, comfortable and relaxed ambience. The hotel also has some of the largest meetings and conventions facilities in the city. The grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 1500 people and a further 12 additional meeting rooms are also available. For dining and entertainment, the hotel offers a choice of four restaurants and lounges. Leisure facilities include a fully equipped two-level health club, plus a roof top swimming pool. High speed internet access is available in all guest rooms and public areas. The Emerald Hotel is located in the midst of one of Bangkoks busiest commercial and entertainment hubs. The hotel is conveniently located within 2 minutes walk from one of Bangkoks new underground MRT stations making it quickly accessible to almost any part of the city

Just read the review written on Dec 31, 2006. I were there exactly the same period of time but my comments are totally different.....First of all, location is bad, there are all massage, sauna places with mini-skirt flashing around the area. Secondly, the room are so wear out that everything doesn't work, and I have to call the room service almost twice everyday to get the stuffs fixed. Service is BAD BAD BAD, waitress in the resturants are not helpful, and they have pretty bad manner indeed - which really surprised me cuz I haven't seen such a poor service in Bangkok !!!! Most importantly of all, there is nothing around the area - no shopping mall, no resturants and you have to travel long to get to the city centre - first by Subway, then the sky train.

The rooms are large and well appointed. Everything works, and the staff is happy to fufill any need very quickly. The baths are to die for, with large showers with everything you need. AC is cold, and you can hire a hotel car for almost nothing for business or sightseeing. It is also the nicest hotel close to Kantana Animation. Take a Tuk-tuk to the Oriental for the pool side BBQ, and save a ton of money staying here.

Value for money Hotel. Could have done better with an electrical kettle in the room.

Excellent hotel, excellent location, excellent rate and will certainly stay here again and again. The breakfast spread is wonderful... better than many hotels that I have stayed in BKK.

When you stay in this hotel you had better be careful as they seem intent on making their patron pay double. For instance, while we had a confirmation for a standard room they try to get us to change to a so-called executive room for almost twice as much per night. (bait and switch tactic). Later, when I looked at their own web site they charge more for bookings in this period than they do in the peak season!!! Obviously, they will change that as the cool season comes closer.

My one pet hate is shower curtains, and this hotel continues to use these. Overall the hotel offers an excellent choice with the various food outlets, breakfast was excellent. The prices charged for things like coffee, are rather expensive. The staff as a whole were excellent, very helpful, and always cheerful.

Front Desk people are not accommodating and didn't try to make the guests who arrived early in the morning comfortable due to hotel regulation.

The room is clean, tidy and spacious. Hotel staff are courteous and friendly. Breakfast is good, a lot of choices. Location is near to the train station, which is easily accessible to all the main tourist areas. Also near to major shopping area i.e. Robinsons, Jusco and Carrefour. Will definitely stay there again.
