The most famous hotel in Singapore is unquestionably the Raffles. This legendary hotel, first opened in 1887, was named after Sir Thomas Raffles, founder of Singapore. The elegant and luxurious hotel has been host to a huge range of famous literary figures and movie stars. It is also the location for the invention of the Singapore Sling cocktail. But the Raffles isn't the only luxury establishment in the city. There is a vast number of luxury hotels in Singapore; tourists looking for high-end accommodation could choose no better destination. However, Singapore hotels are certainly more expensive than most other destinations in Asia. There is a small selection of reasonably-priced mid-range and budget hotels. For all accommodation it is wise to book well in advance.
