Lone Pine Hotel Penang

97 BATU FERINGGHI - 11100 Penang

The colourful history of the Lone Pine dates back to 1948 when a lonely bungalow owned by the McKearn family was bought over by a group of Chinese with the intention of operating a hotel on Batu Ferringhi. On the land where the bungalow stood, was then a lone Casuarina tree, which was thought to be a pine tree, hence the hotel's name 'Lone Pine'. With only 10 rooms, the Lone Pine Hotel was the first hotel on Batu Ferringhi, and was a haven for expatriates and their families fleeing the severe winters of home. Lone Pine Hotel is located at Batu Ferringhi on the northwestern coast of Penang Island. Set on Penang's finest beach, the hotel is a mere 17 km or 20 minutes from Georgetown and 31 km or 45 minutes from Penang International Airport. Dining is traditional yet features a contemporary twist boasting of tantalising blend of local and international, with distinctive emphasis on Hainanese cuisine. Private and carefree, relaxing activities include an afternoon laze in hammocks under the shade of the casuarinas trees, a stroll along the beach, a refreshing dip in the L-shaped swimming pool, a much needed relaxing massage in the garden or even to take advantage of the many water sports available along the hotel's beach front. Each guestroom offers full room service and a wide rang of amenities which includes a 25" color TV with satellite programmers, IDD telephone, mini-bar, coffee/tea-making facilities, hairdryer and a large in-room safe. This enchanting retreat boasts of 50 exclusive guestrooms, almost all of which face the sea, open out to a terrace, balcony or private patios.
