My wife and I stayed at the Bayview for 4 nights in Feb 2008. We found the hotel to be nice and clean, the deluxe sideview room was large and bathroom was also very spacious with separate shower cubicle. The staff were friendly and polite. The hotel has a wonderful swimming pool with jacuzzi and lovely garden area around the pool. The beach is right on the doorstep. We enjoyed our peaceful stay at the hotel and would highly recommend it. The only slight downside is the location. It's a good 10 minute walk before the shops and restaurants start and in my opinion, the hotel deco looks a little tired and can do with some modernisation. Very good value for money specially when you take into consideration the huge buffet breakfast that is laid out.

This place is heaven on earth! It is a luxury hotel at budget prices. They have EVERYTHING here, and the staff bend over backwards to make sure you are accomodated. The Kids Club is huge, the largest I've seen on Penang, and really fun. The free breakfast is elaborate with eggs cooked to order, American selections, fruit, fresh baked goods, Malaysian favorites and everything you want! This place is beachfront with inexpensive massage at your lounge chair, sunken bar with happy hour, many restaurants with great food, 24 hr room service, wireless internet, business center, beautiful gardens and an awesome pool. We literally DROVE AROUND looking for decent accomodations after our 1st place wasn't good, and this was the very best hotel in Batu Ferringhi. We met many people who vacation here a few times a year, and it's no mystery as to why. It is an EXCELLENT place to stay!

The hotel is a looking quite old / tired and could do with a renovation. Rooms are very large, but sparse and basic. The hotel next door is being renovated and there is considerable noise from there, although this did not bother us too much. The beach front is not pleasant (but you don't go to the Penang for a good beach). Breakfast is very good - surprisingly so. The tourist desk has very little information and doesn't help very much with queries. Other than that its fine.

Excellent stay, good gym and excellent pool. Can't use the beach due to jellyfish, but there are internet cafes and lovely restaurants within walking distance. Would stay again for sure.

Location-wise, the hotel is at the far end of Batu Feringgi. It is a 15-min walk to the night market but beware that there are quite a number of wild dogs wondering around along the way and sometimes barking to people walking along (I've heard some ladies screaming...). To be fair, if all you want for your stay is sun and pool (I would advise against going to the beach - it is only a small strip of sand and the water is dirty) then the hotel is OK. If you would like to shop and go to other tourist attractions in Penang, I would suggest hotels in Georgetown area. From Batu Feringgi it takes an hour by bus to Georgetown for RM2 or you will need to pay the hotel for over-priced car transfer. The hotel does provide shuttle service to Georgetown but it is not frequent at all (3 a day) and at not very practical time.

Overall hotel is nice. The problem is that it's not possible to swim in the sea because of jellyfish I saw really big ones. Also water is not clear. Pool is good.
