the receptionist was just a bit dodgy he kept on changing the rates with each passing day. The hotel was half empty but would inform people that they were fully booked to get a higher price from desperate travellers. Other staff were...

The rooms at Hotel godwin are certainly not worth the money... The staff is very friendly, the size of the rooms is OK, the view from the terrace is great, and the location is nice. Basically, this hotel could be a very nice option if properly maintained: the blankets are stained with God knows what, the walls are dirty, the towels are dirty and so is the bathroom... Yes this is India and yes we have seen much worse during our stay in India but never at that price. I would not recommend to stay in this hotel to anyone nor to would I stay there again as this is a very poor value for money option. Especially when you see what you can get at Ascot Hotel next door in the same price range. These hotels are similar in price range but are worlds apart in terms of service and cleanliness.

Reception was very quick and efficient. The room (deluxe)was large with a superb view over Mumbai and the Bay. The air conditioning was quiet and efficient. There was no noise during the night or early morning. Breakfast was basic but adequate. The roof restaurant/cafe had lovely views, but service was very slow. On enquiring about transport to the airport, there was no pressure to use a hotel organised taxi. I was given this choice or to use a taxi from the front of the hotel. Impressive good value hotel.

The stay at Godwin Hotel, Mumbai was very comfortable. The staff at front desk, room service, restaurant were very efficient and helpful. The food and service was really very good. The room itself was very spacious and contemporary. The rooms and bathrooms were kept very clean. I would consider my stay at Godwin as money-well-spent.

When we arrived in the hotel after sitting for more than 2 hours in the taxi from the airport the man behind the reception from the Goldwin Hotel told us that we have not made a reservation because they did not received a confirmation of the agent although we handed over him our booking confirmation. We think that the problem was that this man has given away our rooms to a group of Americans who were just checking in before us because I do not believe that the agent send us a confirmation from the hotelreservation without having received a confirmation from the hotel itselves. The man from the reception called the agent and asked for a copy of their confirmation. After waiting for more than 4 hours the agent succeeded in finding another hotel for us near the airport (again more than 2 hours in the taxi), which was a very good hotel but not in the area we wanted to be. We do not recommend this hotel and will tell every body who will go to Mumbai to stay out of this hotel especially when they want to organize a congres because you cannot trust them.
