Beijing Double Happiness Courtyard Hotel
No. 37, Dongsisitiao - 100010 Beijing
The Beijing Double Happiness Courtyard Hotel is located in the real heart of city with crucial Chinese culture and history. The yard used to be the house of a gifted ascent scholar and dignitary Mr. Ji Xiaolan in Qing dynasty and could be named as a beautiful urban villa. It is built in a typical old Beijing architectural style with compound of quadrangle courtyards with more than 250 years. After the entrance of the ascent-styled gate, you will be encircled by the traditional Chinese cultural remains, pavilion and attic. The yard is fully covered by plants and flowers and the fresh air will let you forget the noise of the city life. The classical winding corridors with eatraordanry hand-made artworks will lead you to your rooms and you can easily find a place to make a break in the park-like garden which is surrounded by jade stairs, Chinese red pillars and other colorful old style architectures. The multi-language waitress is willing to make the introduction for each details you might be interested. The room is decorated by Chinese furniture and living items. Except the advanced air-container system and convenient bath room facilities, we provide you with a real image of Chinese ascent life.

Delightful ambience, small but well appointed rooms in traditional style, which did mean rather hard bed- we used our camping rolls to soften it. Staff very friendly and helpful, good WiFi, we would seek out this hotel for a return visit.

a real gem of a hotel. A little hard to find at first, as it is in the Hutongs (alleys) which can be a little intimidating - but persevere! The location is wonderful - shops and good restaurants all around (2 good Chinese and 1 Korean hot pot/barbecue within 3 minutes walk). The subway is close and it is within easy walking distance to wafujing (the big shopping street). the staff is very friendly - unlike most Beijing hotels - and there is free internet and local calls. Breakfast is included and it's pretty good - a combination of dumplings/tea boiled eggs/croissants and Chinese sausages. The rooms are good sized and traditionally decorated (think futon), set around a series of interior courtyards. It is amazing to be in the middle of bustling Beijing, sitting in a quiet green oasis with birds singing all around. We were there for pleasure and a little business and are already planning our next trip back. I have stayed in several Beijing hotels previously and found many more expensive, but none nicer.

Charming, traditional hotel For here, and everywhere you stay in China try to get the address of your destination written in Chinese for your taxi driver. Beijing is a huge city and smaller streets are not marked on maps in Latin characters.

A very enjoyable stay in an idiosyncratic location; definitely a hotel for people looking for something different from the usual styled establishment. Staff were very friendly and helpful and our stay was an extremely pleasurable one. Would visit there again.

Very suitable If you get fed up of local food you can eat at 'Grandmas' which serves burgers and chips etc. It is just on the main road that runs along side the East of Forbidden City

Wonderful place, very well situated and very friendly staff. Room smaller than we anticipated when booking 'Queen Bed Room'. Bed not even really a double. Breakfast excellent but would recommend avoiding the hotel restaurant beyond breakfast unless you like microwaved food. Wonderful place, best hotel we stayed in in China (and we lived there for 8 months).
