Between the 23rd of December 2007 and the 4th of January 2008 we (Belgian couple 55+) travelled around the imperial cities of Morocco. We chose to stay in IBIS Moussafir Gare hotels in Casablanca (1night), Marrakech (4nights) and Fes (4nights) as they were close to the railway station and in Sofitel Diwan in Rabat (3nights) as Ibis was badly located. We would not change this choice if we would do the same trip over. In every Ibis hotel we found a nice and clean room with bathroom (shower with plenty of hot water, airco) (480MAD), a good bed, a healthy buffet breakfast with fresh orange juice for less than 50MAD, a bar, an acceptable restaurant (menu 125MAD, wine/beer available). Negative point: none of the hotels bothered to stock on (free) town maps. There were some differences : In Casa the receptionist was lazy and the hotel noisy as trains circulate all night, Marra & Fes had a well kept garden with pool, the desk manager of Marrakech was remarkably polyglot, helpful and efficient, the only negative remark on this hotel is the “muzak” that is continuously played ! Sofitel Diwan Rabat is more “chique” but 4 times as expensive; the restaurant “Brasserie” is well worth the detour, the French chef deserves a star.

We stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a guided tour of Morocco. The hotel was terrific and exceeded my expectations of a four star hotel in Morocco. The building was clean, modern, and well designed, and the breakfast selection was fantastic. The hotel is also well located for individuals interested in seeing the main sites (the Chella necropolis, the kasbah, and la tour Hassan and Mausoleum). The rooms were spacious, spotless, and well maintained; the beds were comfortable, there was air conditioning, and there was hot water with good water pressure in the shower. The room also had all the amenities most tourists could want, including a gorgeous bathtub, bathrobes, slippers, etc. Of course, one would expect good things from the hotel, considering the high room rate.

This is a high quality, modern business hotel. A bit small and the breakfast is nothing spectacular, but it is very comfortable with good phones, Internet access and all the conveniences and that is no small feat in Morocco.

I stayed in this hotel for a couple of days for my business trip to Rabat. I agree that this doesn't have any special local touch to mention. It isn't so gorgeously delux hotel, either. But it satisfies all usual hotel standards, with clean room and service. The staff responded to all my small requests quickly enough. As a business visitor, I was quite satisfied with the hotel. The restaurant on the ground floor was nice, too.

We stayed here for about 10 days and the service was absolutely superb throughout, along with super-friendly and attentive staff. The modern hotel offers a brilliant base for exploring the city. Loved the hammam experience and would definitely stay there again. 10 out of 10.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 days in a junior suite. Okey, this is not a Four Seasons Hotel, but I was kinda dissappointed...This hotel lacks charm and could rather be a airporthotel in Paris than a top end hotel in Morocco. The location is good, and the hotel is new. But that's it. The staff don't seem to interested in their work. As my luggage was delayed, caused by Air France, I gave some important documents to one of the employees. And what happened? He lost my documents...and the hotel didn't even seem to care. He didn't even give me an apology. Only told me that he'd lost the documents. That's not proper for a Sofitel hotel. The staff was rather cold and reserved. I never saw them smile. I felt I was asking for a big favor every time I had to ask something from the reception. But it is their JOB! Nobody in the restaurant, nor the roomservice, or the bar did understand English. That's quite shocking. The suite itself was nice, but very plain. Ordinary and conventional. But the bed was very good actually. The tv had only two english channels (CNN and BBC World). Upon check-out the reception even tried to charge me for services I didn't even order. I think the best thing about this hotel was the maid. She was so nice, and charming. I good a good feeling because of this lady. If you are looking for a clean and plain place to stay in Rabat - stay here. If you are looking for something more exotic and luxurious - stay somewhere else. This is not a 5-star property, rather a 4-star business hotel. I went to eat dinner at the Tour Hassan Hotel (former Le Meridien and the only true 5-star hotel in Rabat) and that seemed like a nice, safe and exotic hotel. I will give Hassan a try next time I visit Rabat.

Located in the center of Rabat, this hotel has got what you can expect by a Sofitel, but is a bit anonymous and is more 4- than 5-star. In any case, given the city (resembling a huge village, although the political capital of Morocco - lovely country) I suppose it is the best option available (I've heard also about the hotel Tour Hassan) and has free overnight guarded parking for your car. Prices, nonetheless, are not so competitive (the minimum rate - booked over the internet and with a special promotion - with breakfast is around 130Eur: not so cheap to be in Morocco).

Before visiting rabat I had read some reviews on moroccan hotels that a 4 star hotel may be more like a 3 star, but after staying at the Sofitel in Rabat, this is not true for atleast this hotel. It meets the standards of a well established 4 star hotel, From the exterior to the lobby to the rooms, everything is nicely finished. The staff are friendly and are always willing to help out. Its also in a very good location and good restaurants are nearby. If you're with a family of young children, you can ask for a communicating room (a door in between two rooms in the hotel) if you havnt already been given it. It was new to me and I found that it was very handy indeed!
