I was really happy to stay in the Golden Tulip Farah Hotel, since it is located in a very lovely place - just 300 m away from Mohammed V mausoleum. The personnel are well trained and polite. What should be adjusted for sure is a wireless internet – it should be free of charge for all those living in the hotel."

The Golden Tulip is a well built hotel similar to many Western Hotels. The rooms were typical of mid-range US hotels with all the usually conveniences. The place was clean and everything worked. This all good compared to most hotels in and around Rabat. They spoke a little English and this is somewhat rare because Morocco is Arabic and French. I had two complaints. First, the AC would not go on until you placed your key in the wall slot. You are staying in a hot room for at least am hour while the AC tries to cool it down. Next time I’ll stuff some paper in the slot and go to the bar for an hour. Second, no one explained the breakfast deal to me – it was included. All the instructions in my room indicated something different.

Unpleasant unhelpful staff at reception, poor meal quality for breakfast and dinner. In most countries this would rank as a 3 or at best a 4 star hotel.

Despite the hotel looking nice enough, the problems began when we got to reception. The reception staff were rude and very unwelcoming. Though we had a printout of our booking (done through a 3rd party web site) they said they did not have a booking for us. Then, they said the booking was only for 2 people, despite the printout we had stating 2 people plus a rollaway for a 3rd person. They then said they did have a room for us, but we should consider ourselves very lucky. We then went to the room, and despite asking for a non-smoking room, were giving a smoking room. We opened the windowed and aired the room and the smell went away. There were also only two beds (slightly bigger then singles) and towels for two. Despite asking repeatedly for the extra towel, none never came. When we went to check out, there was argument with the bill. We agreed the price and they even asked for more. As I paid with Visa card, which they were still holding, I ended up paying the extra. Overall, definately NOT recommended.
