In the thick of it If you do go shopping in the souks, hire a guide and tell him what you are looking for. He will take you to his friends shops but you won't get hassled by anyone else.

Great Riad avoid room four Overall lovely Riad, immaculately presented and friendly, helpful staff. Location is fine but it is a good walk from the souks / square which is particularly tiring before you've learnt to ignore the begging local kids. Also our room (four) was not on the courtyard (as the other seven are) so we were sort of outside of the 'Riad Community.' It was also fairly dark and noisy (both inside from other guests and outside from Motorbikes).

Amazing Riad, in the Medina, an oasis in a chaotic atmosphere We booked an airport transfer & trip to the coast with the Riad, it was the best way & cost no more than if we used taxis. They have a well driven, clean, comfortable, aircon people carrier & we satisfied we had the best service possible. We walked to the main square, got a bit lost & people were really helpful with directions, would recommend walking via the souqs. We took taxis at night, check the cost first with the Riad staff & the rank is just round the corner.

Very nice hotel A bit of a shock from the outside, but once inside a different world. Very pleasant, clean and confortable. A very relaxing place to stay. About 30 minutes convoluted walk through the Souk and back streets to the main square and centre of the old town. Hotel staff are extremely helpful and attentive although hotel management a bit 'laid back' - don't expect anything urgently ! Note there s a tourist tax payable of 26 Dirhams per person per night which can throw last minute calculations.

Much better than a large anonymous hotel! If you like being in the heart of the city and feeling that you are part of it and not just a visitor, you will enjoy staying at this authentic Morrocan Riad. The service is excellent; you are a guest not simply 'business'. Very helpful and friendlt staff. Thoroughly recommended!

Perfect retreat for a busy city I'd highly recommend a day trip to Ourika Valley. We made friends with two of the other couples staying at the Riad and booked an 8 seater taxi via the Riad....working out about 20 pounds each. Making lots of pit stops on the way to see a traditional Berber house, pottery makers, almond producers and finally waterfalls in the valley.

Not impressed! Very clean, peacefull and lovely at night with the lighting around and in the little pool is lighted and covered with flowers. Good quality furnishing and there is enough space to relax and store your stuff. Very kind and helpful staff. Because it's far from the central square, the shops around are less expensive than the ones nearer to the square. However, too far from square therefore you need a taxi every time you come back if you want to avoid being harassed by kids. The (French) owner refused to give us any tips on shopping and was only interested in selling us meals and drinks and taxi fares at an extortionate price, while you can find lovely food at a quarter of the price on the square. Breakfast was very disappointing compared to any other we had in the desert and other parts of the country where they normally serve a huge cold buffet, fresh croissants, proper President butter, home made yogurt, proper bread... Here it's a pale copy of a continental breakfast with cereals, bad butter, defrosted continental bread, not very fresh croissants... And if you want bacon, eggs, you have to beg for it. I must say that was the biggest, and only really, disappointment of our trip to Morocco. We loved it and will go back but we will stay in another hotel. Good luck.

Lovely Riad in North Medina Excellent service. Great location. 15 minute walk to the square through the Souk. Dinner in the riad was delicious though quite expensive. We were surprised to find that a tourist tax had been added to our final bill when checking out. The owner was not always as sincere and helpful as the rest of the staff...might have helped if we were French!
