Location. Le Riad Monceau is located in the medina of Marrakech, Morocco, within 50 metres of the Jeema El Fna and the souk, and one kilometre from Gueliz. Marrakech Menara Airport is eight kilometres from the hotel. Hotel Features. A Moorish Andalusian style property, Riad Monceau is centred traditionally around an open air patio. It is located in a quiet side street off the lively maze of the medina and the famous square Jemaa El Fna. The artist and owner Isabelle Aubry has decorated the riad in tapestry of her own design. The hotel offers room service, a concierge desk, and nearby parking for those arriving by car. Le Riad Monceau features a restaurant where Moroccan dishes are served, either in the Moroccan style restaurant room, on the patio by the swimming pool, or on the roof terrace overlooking the snow capped High Atlas Mountain. An extensive list of Moroccan wines and other alcoholic drinks is available. Local musicians perform occasionally, and a complimentary Moroccan and continental breakfast is available in the mornings. Le Riad Monceau features a swimming pool with traditional Moroccan mosaics and a marble patio. Oriental massages and body care are provided on request, and guests can participate in cooking workshops led by the cooks of the riad. There is also discounted access to local hammams and spas, and a nearby fitness centre. The nearest golf course is five kilometres from the hotel. Guestrooms. The seven guestrooms, arranged on two floors around the patio, are decorated in natural warm red and gold colours and furnished luxuriously, blending traditional architecture and design with modern comfort. The bathrooms have bath/tub combinations, and all guestrooms are equipped with satellite television, direct dial telephones, and wireless Internet access. Further amenities include safes and minibars.

Superb Friendly Luxury Make sure you set your watch or mobile o the correct time... we set our Nokias to the Casablanca time and spent a week being an hour late for everything before we noticed! All credit to the hotel they served us breakfast without demur well after their 10am cut-off and we just about got a seat on the flight home!

best riad in morocco This was a wonderful hotel. Very peaceful and tranquil. The staff are friendly and make you feel very welcome. The Hotel is beautiful and every inch of it has been thoughtfully decorated. The location is perfect and just a few minutes walk from the main sights.

Helpful and friendly staff This riad is very nicely appointed and provides a comfortable and relaxing environment. But the best thing about this place is its staff, firendly and helpful without being intrusive.

Fine Riad Don't buy from the market even if you have bartered down to even below half price. The Artisan centre within walking distance has good set priced articles.

Lovely riad in the heart of the Medina We stayed at the Riad Monceau for 5 nights during our trip to Marrakesh and it was fantastic. We stayed in the junior suite, which had a huge whirlpool tub (it would be very nice for a romantic getaway), and the decor is truly exotic and beautiful. The riad is tastefully furnished and there is a beautiful roof top terrace for lounging and soaking in the sun. The staff was also very helpful and the continental breakfast was delightful. The only downside is that the staff speaks limited English so there may be some difficulty for special requests. Also worthy of note is that the riad is very centrally located to the souk (the central marketplace in Marrakesh where most of the shopping is) so it was easy to haul back purchases to the hotel room during the day.

Perfect Riad Get ready to haggle as soon as you arrive in Marrakech, starting with the taxi from airport which should cost circa 100Dh.

An oasis of calm Don't miss Les Jardins Majorelles - the gardens at the home of the late Yves St Laurent. Full of colour, and look out for the Terrapins in the pool. They are only small, so try to get there early before the coach parties arrive.

Great location If you take a day trip to the High Atlas try to avoid Friday-Sunday as the locals take over the place and it certainly not 'off the beaten track'.
