Golden Tulip Hotel Des Arts

1120 Jack Beach Dar Bouazza - 1120 Casablanca

A flamboyant, contemporary property, celebrating art and a mixture of cultures through stylishly idiosyncratic design, the Golden Tulip Hotel Des Arts is located on the Atlantic coast in Dar Bouazza, 20 kilometres south of Casablanca. The 102 guestrooms, over three floors, have individual decor ranging from ethnic and national themes to contemporary. All include air conditioning, coffee and tea making facilities, minibars, hair dryers, safes, telephones, microwaves, cable television and Internet connections. Bathrooms have telephones and complimentary toiletries. The hotel's Moroccan Restaurant, blending characteristic modern decor with an international style, offers Moroccan cuisine and a wide ranging wine list. The full service Spa des 5 Sens offers guests the chance to unwind and try traditional Moroccan treatments, with fitness equipment for a workout. There are indoor and outdoor pools, the latter situated on the roof with panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding country, stylish bars serving an array of beverages. Guests can also enjoy coffee in the lobby and the services of a floor butler. The concierge and multilingual staff at the 24 hour front desk can give tour assistance, and there is secure valet parking onsite. The hotel is well placed to explore the area; there are private beaches one kilometre away, and a journey of 20 kilometres will take guests to Casablanca, the Hassan II Mosque and the shops and bazaars of the Habous. The nearest train station is 22 kilometres away, and Casablanca Mohammed V Airport is 40 kilometres from the hotel; an approximate driving time of 30 minutes.

The Tulip Des Arts is miles away from the city centre and it costs a fortune to get to the city by taxi. Also it is 1 hour from the airport to the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel needs to have another restaurant. There is only one restaurant. Their breakfast was good but their kitchen staff weren't able to cope with the guests during breakfast. The coffee & food kept finishing and wasn't being replaced in time. Most of the guests were getting irritated. I suggest they keep a time slot for each room for breakfast, that way they can keep up. The spa and pool were excellent, and good value for money. Room and bathroom was very good. Staff were helpful.

At least 35 km from the center. The hotel is nice, very design, but the service is poor. No explanation about anything at all when we arrived. Someone showed us the room only after that we were asking for it, no explanation about breakfast, welness center or anything else. Also in the room hardly any information. But I have to admit that there was a taxi strike, and they arranged a shuttle for us in the morning that was on time. The restaurant was Fawlty Towers. 5 tables in the restaurant were taken, and NO one received what he had asked for. For the first course, my husband received something else, they were asking if we still wanted a desert, but they had forgotten to serve the main course, and it was like this at ALL tables...I travel a lot for my job, but this I have never seen before, not even in a 3 star hotel.

I think the review rating this hotel as 'fantastic' must have been written by the hotel itself as a promotion. There is NO beach near the hotel! The sea is close (400 m), but it is not accessible - the sea front is pebbly and used as a rubbish tip. Our intial room stank - really stank - of drains (as, incidentally, did the reception), the next room much smaller and peeling paper on ceiling in bathroom. Water was dirty yellow colour (old pipes?). Gym was a joke and a health and safety nightmare - three bits of cardio (two of which were out of action)... BUT the entire gym was virtually unusable as the floor was so highly waxed it was as slippy as an ice rink. I tried standing on some stones which had been laid as ornaments by the side of the gym to do some squats, but gave up frustrated. Very dangerous. Reception staff not helpful - no information about the hotel provided upon arrival and we did not realise until the thrid day there that there was a pool on the roof (which was too cold to use). This is not a five star - I promise you. I have had a better hotel experience in two stars. Go somewhere else - a proper five star, please or you will be disappointed. This is a shabby hotel for it's price bracket

I'm surprised to hear such poor reviews of this hotel. I have lived in Morocco for several years and stayed at many hotels all over the place and this is one of my favorites! Jack Beach is also one of my favorite beachs. It certainly is not touristy, and is a bit out in the rural area, but most of Morocco is rural and it's a great way to see the real Morocco while also staying in a very nice hotel. I was first introduced to the hotel when my husband and I went to have 'breakfast' during Ramadan last year with a friend visiting from Europe. The meal was really lovely (a large variety of authentic Moroccan food-even my Moroccan husband who usually hates the quality o fMoroccan food in restaurants thought the food was great) and the staff very friendly. Also, the dining room was superbly decorated with gorgeous gardens right next door. When my parents came to visit us a few months later, I chose this hotel to stay at. Their room was superbly decorated and comfortable--very modern. The staff wasn't particularly helpful this time, but we also didn't really need their help with anything. We also have a car, which made it quite easy to get back and forth between the city (the drive is really lovely!) Also, the restaurant was disappointing. They had a large tour group that they were serving buffet style Moroccan food, but said we were not allowed to eat there (only French food at the other restuarant). The service was extremely slow and bad and the food sub-standard. I would definately recommend insisting on eating the Moroccan food there. Otherwise, though, my parents really enjoyed the gardens, the close access to the beach (more locals than tourists, but I personally find that more interesting), and the beautiful room. I would definately stay here again, although perhaps eat at the cafe a few meters away where they serve great fried fish and salad on the terrace overlooking the ocean.

A very unexpected delight. We were only in Casablance for the weekend and decided it would be nice to be close to the beach. The hotel was very good value for money and beautiful. The rooms are tastefully decorated and great bathroom. The view from the bedroom was spectacular.

We stayed at Hotel des Arts 2 nights in the end of April. The hotel premises were quite nice, artisty, and in very good shape (new, modern, fancy). Yet the service was not exactly what I would be expecting from a 5 star accomodation. Long waiting times for getting the room, paying the bill and being showed to the table. Very few people spoke English, yet those who did, were very helpful arranging taxi drives etc.! The Spa was lovely and inexpensive. The service was very good there. Do not go if you want the buzz of Casablanca (and do not wish to pay 50EUR for a round trip back and forth). This place is in the middle of nowhere, in a slightly messy, rural (but safe) neighbourhood - but if you enjoy walks on rocky beach just by yourself and very few locals - I think it still is one of the best options in Casablanca.

The decor is very funky in very interesting colors and the designs are unique and pleasing to the eyes. The statues are interesting and there are gorgeous flowers outside. As you go up the stairs, the lights turn on their own. Very nice. Even the rooms' ceilings are interesting to look at, as is everything else. The beds in the rooms we had were very comfortable and the housekeeping was good. There isn't much to watch on TV though. Very few channels, not much of interest. ... But everything else really really doesn't deserve that high a rating. Oftentimes, we would call and ask for things and they would never arrive. The food in the morning is infested with insects, almost everything is uncovered, and ants march in and out of the bowls. Appetizing. The only things that seemed to be mostly safe were the cerals and possibly the milk. I could have milk and cereal at home and be comforted by the fact that I know it's clean. The employees even come up and eat from the food! I'm thinking they don't get much to eat themselves? There is Wi-Fi in one sitting area, which is also nicely furnished. The hotel's best point, however, is being close to a lot of interesting places. This is the ideal hotel if you just want a place to sleep in and rest up between going and checking out different places in the surrounding areas. If you go here, you better like insects and are planning on eating outside. If you have that out of the way, a pleasant enough stay awaits!

After a week searching for the adresses of our riads in the various cities of Morocco, this hotel was quite a relief. Easy to find, beautiful design, excellent food. We were very happy to stay here on our last night before flying back. the room was wonderful. Great service. Good value for money.
