Built in a traditional Moroccan style in 1970, the Coralia Club Agadir La Kasbah is a complex of cottages set in five hectares of pretty gardens, 500 metres from the beach in the Bay of Agadir. Great Atmosphere, fine food, and fun entertainment. I would go back again and again. It's a very festive place with always something to do if you choose it. I truly enjoyed the Moroccan entertainment night too. The grounds are relaxing and beautiful.

What can I say other than this hotel was excellent and we would have been lost in Agadir without such a great place to stay. The hotel is typically Moroccan which at first glance can seem strange as we were expecting 4* marble like all of the other hotels in the area. Agadir was different to other holiday destinations that I had been too and that there wasn't allot going on in the evenings outside of the hotel nor was it safe to walk (2 women) on their own at night. Each night at the hotel they had good entertainment eg, snake charmers, belly dancers, camels, African dancers and singers and so much more. The grounds of the hotel are very well kept and the pool area very clean. Lots of sun beds so no fighting in the mornings. Rooms are basic and I must say the bathroom did look a little tatty at first sight but the shower itself was quite powerful so all was forgiven. We were all inclusive which was great as the food was really good with great choice every night. Le Kasbah had the best entertainments team that spoke very good English. Being only one of two English couples at La Kasbah we though we would find this strange but the staff did all they could to help us and make us feel very welcome. This is a French hotel but I don't feel that this hampered our stay at all. Great hotel for families, children, couples or older people. The hotel has a great mix of ages and something for all. The only complaint I would have about this hotel is that the bar staff at the pool bar were VERY SLOW at serving drinks which could take up to half hour at busy times. Would I rate this hotel as 4*??? Yes I would but not as you would normally know a 4 *. If you are looking for a traditional Moroccan hotel then this is it. I have just had a holiday to remember and that I can safely say is down to the hotel and the hotel alone. Very sad to be home! :O(

Good (Hotel) •Reception looks nice, •Nice Flowers around. •Bar area inside very nice. •Air conditioning worked ok. •No annoying waiters or people baying for tips. •Fresh squeezed orange juice was lovely •Porters are exceptionally helpful and work very hard (*deserve tipping). •The bar staff again are quite exceptional and work hard (*deserve tipping). •Security at the perimeters is very tight Bad (Hotel), •The hotel will not cash travellers’ cheques, and on certain days of the week the local banks are not open. •If you require cash in local currency the hotel will not accept credit cards or debit cards for this purpose. •When you require assistance the hotel receptionist is not bothered to help you in resolving your requests, the answer is simply ‘non’. •If you arrive before check in time you will not be issued with a hotel pass so you will be unable to use any facilities such as restaurant or bar unless you have local currency (*see items above) •98% of staff can’t speak English, 99% of the guests are French so ensure your French is fluent as well as your dress sense or you will feel the burning eyes of xenophobia drilling into you (*excepting the children who always were pleasant and polite). (Something I have never experienced in France or anywhere else, the people that this hotel attracts seem to be of the worse examples of French nationals). •Some of the hotel staff were actually embarrassed by the restaurant and also admitted to being frequently ill, which explained their strange food combinations; possibly in an attempt to be able to stay well and working. •The hotel grounds constantly looked like a building site with workmen maximising the use of the pathways ensuring that the guest had to walk over the building site that had just been watered to create a lovely muddy mess, they seemed to view the guests with total contempt (*excepting one young man, who was always courteous and mindful of the fact that guests do need to use the paths and walkways). •The rooms shower was designed to ensure that when showering 50% of the water will run all over the bathroom floor. •The showers are filthy and smell disgusting. •The towels are removed at cleaning but not replaced until later in the day. •The refrigerators are installed in an enclosed space with a door and are highly dangerous (that’s if you do wonder what that strange smell of melting plastic is). These are not designed to be the integrated type of fitment, so keep the door open. •The rooms have a very nice flat panel TV in the rooms, which in great! Except the fact that they don’t work and are not connected to anything. •The internal locks on the apartment door didn’t work at all, so you could be walked in on by the maids at anytime (*and we were) •If your room required any kind of maintenance work it will start with no notice at any time and the first you will know is when a guy appears with a drill and starts drilling walls etc. •They start work early here in this complex and there will be constantly chiselling stone and banging hammers from 6am and throughout the day. •The communal unisex toilets near the bar are consistently running with urine on the floor and toilets are usually full of un-flushed diarrhoea and vomit. •Staff members rowing with guests over damages outside our hotel room, they were totally oblivious to the fact we were sitting outside there. •No soap provided in the apartment rooms, if you require more toilet paper you have to purchase it yourself. •Additional items were added to my bill on leaving that I didn’t purchase or use, amazingly the receptionists’ command of English improved when trying to justify these. I refused at the inset to provide my credit card details when checking in for an all inclusive for this reason (*ask them to identify the purchase, you likely find they can’t). •After your checkout time and before your transfer time the hotel security were unwilling to allow us back into the hotel complex, add to this the fact they don’t speak English. This is a particular problem if the hotel is looking after your baggage and you have 5 hours to kill. Hotel Food / Drink •Hotel food restaurant gave us constant food poisoning (*we later found out through a staff member who previously worked in the kitchens that they re-chill / freeze cooked food that isn’t eaten to serve up again for next serving (*think chicken, seafood, rice & pork)). •Insects crawling over uncovered salads and alike, most cold food uncovered to allow additional insect contributions. •Bland and non-Moroccan food being cooked for their presumed European clients palette •The BBQ outside cooked chicken on skewers in 4 layers deep to ensure the uncooked juices of the meat above ran onto the cooked meat below that you are about to be served. They also specialised (when busy) in serving partially cooked chicken. When they alternated to lamb burgers they were of the worse quality and looked like they were made from reclaimed meat and bits of bone. •Coffee served was like coloured water and was disgusting •Staff not wearing gloves when touching food, finger nails invariably filthy. •Food such as eggs were constantly stuck to the bottom of the pan and impossible to get, wait until the 3rd layer of them are placed on top •The spicy breakfast sausages were often not cooked properly. •Ice is made from tap water, therefore is risky to have in your drinks •Mineral water was not chilled (*petty fact I know) •The wine was watered down with tap water and again was disgusting; you need to buy the Sahara Reserve to get a semi decent wine. Beach •Be prepared to be persistently hassled by sellers on the beach (one every 10 – 15 minutes) and if you do buy something don’t assume that you only need one as they will be back trying to sell you the same thing again... 30 minutes later. (*best tip is just say you bought one yesterday). As I recall the following are available for your purchasing pleasure: oHenna Tattoos oBeer / Water / Coke Etc... oBeach Mats oStrange rocks oMats oCaftans oSilk Scarf’s oDonuts oFake Watches o Fake designer label goods •The beach umbrella rental people are generally very good and will rent you one for 20 dirham a day. •Be very careful when walking to the beach as there are lots large 1 foot metal spikes sticking out of the ground pending the building of something or other. •Lots of diggers and construction vehicles driving round the beach promenade, if you are a fan of JCB’s, earthmovers or alike it’s a veritable must see! We tried to get home after day 2 it was so bad, but the representative from the tour company arranged a date but didnt turn up after i said i would only discuss tour excursions after our issues were resolved. I suggested that if he was unable to accomodate could he arrange a flight home. I had to call him the day before we were due to travel to arrange the transfer he should have done for us. He later claimed the reason he didnt turn up because was off sick and was only back on the day of our transfer, which was contradicted by the fact that when i called his mobile he sounded like he was in an office (the constant phones ringing in the background). Worst holiday ever (*and i have travelled quite a bit) Please consider the fact I have been bothered eneugh to write all this, thats how much we hated it. make sure you google 'agadir and sickness' and see what comes up for 2007.

When we arrived its probably like most other places. Not knowing exactly what you get even after reading other reports from tourists. Looking at the area your travelling to and visiting the hotel website can all be a bit misleading. For about 2 weeks of searching for a cheap holiday i decided to choose la kasbah. 4 star rating lovely pool all inclusive at a reasonable price. What we found was that near not 1 person spoke or understood much english it was a french hotel although we was made to feel very welcome by the staff and a few other guests. Down falls was no tv as such. We was told that out of the whole hotel our room was the only one that had a tv but it was also in french, no tea/coffee making facilities or even a fridge to compliment a mini bar for keeping drinks cold overnight should you wish and no air conditioning. The general details of the hotel are that. The grounds are kept clean from morning until night. Rooms are cleaned to perfection on a daily basis, clean sheets every day. A continental style breakfast is available from 6am every morning and then at 8 you get chance to eat what you might call a english breakfast if you can wait that long. At about 12 lunch is available from the main resteraunt and there is also like a small take away type resteraunt a bit further into the grounds of the hotel where you can get burger and chips until 3pm and then it changes to pancakes anything else is charged at the counter. After this your waiting up until 7.30pm for the main dinner which is varied from fruit, salad, fish and meat. White and red wine are handed out in bottles and outside you will find pudding. Once all this is over you will find about 9pm they are set for the evening entertainment and it is every night of the week. Like mentioned in another report you get belly dancing, snake charmers, singers and dancing. You get to join in and it is a very enjoyable night this can go on until midnight. As regards the pool bar it does have a tendancy to be slow in getting served i couldnt find out a reason as to why. Maybe to limit the drinks given out being all inclusive (to save money) Everything is quite expensive if paying for things in the hotel. Laundry, sweets, ice cream and phone calls avoid these if you can. Although it would be nice to go back to la kasbah again i would probably find it more to my liking if i chose a hotel more suited to the english which we found was right next door. Also if you ever need a massage while in agadir just across the road a few metres down there is a shop that can provide you with a massage for 2 hours, taken in a mini bus to its location it was out of this world 2 women at the same time for 300 dirhams or 30 euro which is about £20 well worth the visit and it is only a massage! One last thing to mention is that the red taxis that travel locally cost no more than 10 dirhams per trip so dont give anymore for trips to the beach. Unfortunately we took no photos as we forgot our camera and was just greatful to be away from the terrible english weather weve had
