Amazing for the price and star. I came here a couple of days before my business trip, with my boyfriend, and it was nicer and better than the luxury hotel that my company put me up a few days later. It is located right across from the Lincoln Park Zoo, about 15 minutes walking distance to the world famous Second City comedy club, and all of the boutiques`.

We were totally overwhelmed with the charm and great location and view from our windows. Although we expected a suite, we didn't expect it to be a whole apartment and were thrilled with all the extra space. It was hard to get our teenage nephew to leave the room it was so nice! Although we would have liked to have been in walking distance of downtown, it turned out to be great to be across from the zoo for my nephew and we liked the quieter neighborhood and view as a tradeoff hands down! The staff was extremely courteous and helpful, couldn't ask for better!

We knew it would be nice, but the location and space was just lovely. My parents will stay there whenever they're in town from now on. It was a little old fashioned, but perfect for a comfortable stay.

This is a well appointed older hotel just north of the downtown area. The rooms were functional with a small kitchen area set up like a studio apartment. The lobby was elegant and inviting. It is right across the street from Lincoln Park and the Zoo and a short walk to the beach. A continental breakfast was included. It is also situated in a boutique style red Bick neighborhood with some elegant shopping available within a short walk. All in all I would certainly stay here again and will recommend it to others.

I planned a romantic getaway for my wife's 30 birthday. It was completely ruined by this hotel. I would have never stayed there. The room and furniture was outdated. Some of the kitchen appliances were as old as me. The fridge fan rattled all night! Besides that the carpet was stained and the room was not very clean. I am very upset that my plans of diner/theater and a nice stay down town with my wife were spoiled.

We had a good time at this hotel. It was very pretty and in a perfect location. We only had one problem, our toaster caught on fire and when we called the front desk to let them know and request a new toaster. We never got one nor did they come to check it out. Which was surprising, considering we had a fire in our room? Front desk ladies were very pleasant and helpful. Overall a great stay!

This is a lovely old hotel with beautiful architecture, overlooking gorgeous Lincoln Park which is so clean and perfectly maintained. The room (suite) we had was spacious and beautiful but needs a little more maintenance: window treatment in bedroom did not block light, carpet was stained but clean. We loved the neighborhood; walking distance to Wrigley, restaurants, and waterfront bike path. I would recommend it highly.

I was more than pleased when I stepped into the room. But it exceeded my expectations. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer.

The location that we wanted was great, the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Carpet could have been a little cleaner otherwise it was perfect for our stay. We will go back again.

I would not stay here again. Add $35 a day for parking to the price you expect to pay. Also, with the exception of the view, the room is lackluster. The kitchenette was filled with incredibly dated appliances. The refrigerator smelled like lettuce, and we did not have any lettuce. The bathroom was not clean upon arrival and was very dated and cramped. It was in need of a remodel. The worst thing was the bed. It bowed in the middle, which I did not know was possible for something as hard as a rock. The staff was very nice, and valet service was great. However, we were warned not to return to the hotel after 12:00 AM or no one would be there to park our car. We had to leave our concert early to assure we were back by that time. The public spaces of the building are beautiful and stately.

Very nice hotel! Room was huge, great location and very beautiful! I would stay here again if it weren't for the front desk staff. Started the weekend negatively. Most of the staff was great, but the girl at the front desk was very rude.

I lived in Chicago for over 30 years but recently moved. I knew of and have seeen the Belden Stratford, lived in the neighborhood briefly and have lots of friends nearby. I also have eaten at its restaurants. However, I never had a reason for staying at this hotel till now. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed it -a real jewel in a prime location. More than wonderful and a best kept secret of Chicago.

great Lincoln Park location, attractive building and adequately supplied rooms. i was surprised to see a kitchen too, although we didn't use it. my room really needs a mattress update and linen update. could use a better mattress and more luxurious bedding. i thought the bedding was sparse. the staff was friendly yet unprofessional. (they were using the phone for personal calls during my entire check-in. i found that very unprofessional.

My choice for an economical comfortable place to stay in Chicago A lovely older hotel in a beautiful, convenient neighborhood away from the noise of downtown, but still minutes away from Michigan Avenue by cab - also two bus lines conveniently nearby. If you're lucky enough to get an upgrade to one of their suites, it's even more fun to be there. All rooms are large with lots of closet space. Kitchenettes are in all rooms and suites I've stayed in.

Pretty Hotel, Needs Updates We were checked in by a very disinterested and rude individual,placed in "other type" of Presidential Suite" with old appliances and broken shower glass. Same front desk person said she "wasn't dealing with it" - spoke to manager who rectified immediately, moved us to much nicer suite, where we enjoyed the rest of our week. Recommend they update appliances/countertops/rugs,looking dated, but pretty location and bellmen/housekeeping very good. Restaurant in hotel excellent.

Favorite Chicago Hotel I stayed here 2 years ago for leisure and now I'm in Chicago for business and always stay at the Belden whenever possible. Staff is wonderful - love the rooms. Recommend it highly.

Lovely spot across from the Lincoln Park Zoo We especially enjoyed our "hop on, hop off" trolley tour with the Chicago Trolley Co., a visit to the top of the Hancock building, the Field Museum and Art Institute.

Buyer beware One thing you should know is that the majority of the rooms are occupied by people who rent/own their room. Therefore, a hotel guest is 2nd in line for everything. There is no valet after 11pm. There is no room service. While it is located in a nice, convenient location, don't go there for leisure and pampering.

We purchased the Presidential Suite and they gave us a shoebox When we reserved the Presidential Suite six months before going, we were definitely excited. When we got there with two other couples, we looked at their room before ours, and only one of them was marginal. Our room was a shoebox. We went down to the front desk and they tried to pawn it off as managements fault, and that all the rooms are different. We got our presidential suite, which was spacious, but ordinary. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. My friends who showed up a day later, ended up switching hotels. It looks nice in the lobby, but that is where it ends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was our second stay at the Belden Stratford. We thought our first stay was something special. The second time around was even more outstanding.

Great hotel right across the street from a fabulous park and zoo. The Continetal breakfast was great - and they even provided loaner umbrellas when it rained! I would stay again.

We stayed here for one night, just looking for a place to sleep basically...and then wished we would have stayed the whole weekend to enjoy it more!!

This hotel is located in pristine Lincoln Park. It is within walking distance to the lakefront, Wrigley Field, as well as many neighborhood bars/restaurants/shops. Extremely helpful hotel staff. Nice full kitchen and LOTS of storage-ideal for a long stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the Belden-Stratford. We spend 3 nights there and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They had a nice breakfast buffet with coffee,juices, bagels,muffins etc. We were close to the park, zoo and lake. And only a short distance to bus stops to go downtown. Lovely neighborhood surrouds this hotel and we even found a gorgeous church to attend on Sunday. All in all a pleasant weekend.

The room was like an apartment! It had a full kitchen, a dining room, a living room, and 2 full bathrooms. Nice veiw of the lake. Close to the Aquarium, Museum of Science and History, and the Planetarium. Nice neighborhood to walk around in. We would definitly go back again.

The Belden Stratford is a great hotel for lovers of Lincoln Park and its neighborhood ambience. There is no Michigan Avenue hustle-bustle here. However, it can be reached in a short bus ride. The hotel building is quite elegant, dating from the 1920s. It is across the street from the Lincoln Park Conservatory and the zoo. Our room had a terrific view of the lake with sailboats and the Lincoln Park formal gardens. The room and bath were quite clean and comfortable. All-in-all it was a very enjoyable stay. My husband and I live in the suburbs about 40 miles from Chicago and chose the Belden Stratford for an in-town getaway. It was so nice not to have to think about parking or train schedules.

As always, the Belden Stratford hotel was everything we hoped for. Great location - short taxi ride to Michigan Avenue shopping, and there are many great restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. They now offer a continental breakfast, which they didn't have at our last visit. Additionally, the staff is wonderful - very polite and helpful. Would definately stay again.

The location was also excellent. just around the corner from restraunts and shops. employees were also helpful..gave directions to the bus stop to get to wrigley field. was also walking distance from the park. the restraunt was closed when we were there but found a couple that were very good. hotel offered a continental breakfast but did not like that very much.

The Belden Stratford was a delightful surprise! THe lobby was very elegant and the accomodations were very clean and I loved the bathroom. I had the best meal at Mon Gabi, the French Bistro restaurant off of the hotel lobby. The location was excellent, right near the lake and across from Lincoln Park. My husband and I would definately stay there again.

The belden-stratford was one of the best parts about my recent visit to Chicago. IT was very comfortable and pleasant, almost like a home away from home.

I was a resident at the Belden Stratford for 4 years.....moved in thinking I'd try it for a year and couldn't leave. Arriving home from work each day or from traveling, the lovely ambiance of the European lobby and friendly staff always made me feel welcome.

This is a gem of a hotel. It's beautiful, with character from the 20's and residential feel.

Lobby is beautiful but the room left much to be desired compared to other hotels we've stayed at in Chicago. The carpet was full of spots, the room reeked of burnt coffee (we think that's what it was). No attempt to deodorize the smell. There was a mini kitchen (They could have boiled vinegar to remove the smell)which was nice but was larger than the bathroom! Could have used a second sink or counter space instead of 4 closets. The room had poor lighting and when a bulb burned out, we laid it on the dresser but housekeeping failed to replace it. When we called for a replacement, our call was ignored until we called a second time. Except for the carpet, the room was very clean. The bed did give my husband a backache which is a first. My husband, however, liked the workout facilities. And we must credit the hotel for having excellent security.

Gorgeous and grand hotel downstairs, amazingly roomy "efficiency" type suite upstairs. Literally about as big as the first floor of my house. Nicely clean and updated for an older building, and extremely quiet here. Beautiful place with the most amazing view, including the Lincoln Park Zoo and the botanical conservatory in the "front yard". The kids thought it was amazing to wake up and see the camels from the front windows! Certainly kept them occupied. We have to admit that between the (free!) zoo and (free!) park/conservatory we ended up seeing way less of the rest of the city than planned...and didn't miss it at all! We had a great time here, and loved that the place was so big the kids had plenty of play space and could tuck them into bed in the big bedroom and not worry about disturbing them if we stayed up later in the living areas. Parking fees were steep, so we avoided having a car with us on this part of our stay. Continental breakfast offerings were great, but the table space to eat in was limited, so plan to take it to go. Don't miss this gem of a place.

I found the room very nice, large room which included a small kitchen and dining area. The housekeeping was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. At check-in, I arrived earlier than the 3 p.m. check-in and was told that I could not check-in early. There was no one to help with the bags when I went to my room. The hotel feels more like a condo than a hotel, I did not feel the staff at the front desk was very helpful or friendly. If you are looking for a nice room and few other amminaties then the Belden is your place. I also did not find the location to be that convenient; seemed to be a 10.00 cab ride everywhere I went.

Huse appartment suite with large bathroom and living room area. Right across from Lincoln Park and 3 minute cab ride to city. The furniture is very high end. This is a classy place to entertain.

I loved this place! I stayed for eight nights, and enjoyed the coffee and pastries every morning in the terrace breakfast nook. Location is excellent; across the street from Lincoln Park, and one blook to Clark Street where one can find a great number of very nice restaurants, and bus #22 and #35 to catch to the loop or a few blocks from Michigan Avenue. For the price, it was a bargain. The view from the roof was unique to view the Hancock and Sears Tower. It's also listed as a National Registry site.

What a fabulous place, friendly employees, beautiful lobby and wonderful room at a reasonable price. Easy to find, too. Our room was actually a small apartment, with a full kitchen. We fixed dinner for our visitors and had more time to visit by eating in our room. We hope to return here in the future and we plan to stay here when we do. Thank you so much.

If you're looking for an amazing place to stay at an unbelievable price, make sure you check out this hotel. No, it's not on Michigan Avenue, but it's by everything else in Lincoln Park that the locals love and the tourists often miss. My family and friends stay here every time they visit.

This classic hotel was a nice cost effective alternitive to the more expensive miracle mile hotels. The two restaurants on site were very nice and the nearby Lincoln Park neiborhood was great. Only a ten minute cab ride to Michigan Avenue.

With careful price shopping we found this suite for less than the price of just a regular room. What we got for the money was WOW. Lake and Skyline views, fully loaded kitchen, whirlpool bath, washer, dryer, 1 1/2 baths, dining room, the works. All of this added to the classic Chicago architechure made our stay a rememberable part of our vacation. The topper to it all was a desk staff that was friendly, helpful and fun. We will recommend this hotel to anyone going to Chicago.

The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.
