Beautiful hotel, great rooms, terrific staff. No restaurant or lounge (though there is a free reception nightly in one of the meeting rooms).
This hotel exceeded my expectation. The hotel staff was friendly from the minute I walked in. I was allowed to check in earlier than planned because my flight arrived in the morning. The friendliness continued throughout the entire stay. The complimentary happy hour from 5-7 was a nice bonus as well as the pastries and coffee in the morning. Would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family. I hope to stay there again.
We loved this hotel and would definitely be back. The beds and pillows were the best! The room was very clean, everything was top notch from the shower fixture to the linens. We loved having coffee available on every floor, and we loved the free cocktail hour except for the fact that it was in a small room and was way too crowded.
We enjoyed the plush upscale room, but were annoyed by the construction. The happy hour and breakfast is great, but you have to enjoy it in your room. The lobby, bar and restuarants are under construction and will be untill Spring 2009.
Some issues with street noise, particularly when the bar across the street lets out at 2:00. Would stay here again without hesitation.
Breakfast: The buffet on each floor is a great idea. However, toasters on each floor would be extremely useful. I would also love to have bread toast in addition to muffins and pastries. The hot water containers to make tea and coffee is not usually hot enough. Room facilities: The coffee maker is great to make your own coffee but not to make tea. A kettle in the room would be just perfect.
We were so comfortable at this hotel. We are a family of 4, parents and a 21yr old and 18yr old. We had lots of space in our room. The fact that there is a common room with a TV on the 3rd floor was amazing, it gave everyone extra space. The breakfast was top quality. Even though things began to run out near the end of the morning they continued to refill. The cocktail hour was very nice as well. What I REALLY loved about this hotel was the staff. They could not do enough for us. We stayed Aug.21 to 31st on the 3rd floor. Front the moment we entered I knew this was a great place. We just felt at home! Great location. The staff is very helpful with ideas to see the sights and helping save time and money. I fully recommend this hotel. We booked from Lastminutetravel.com.
Excellent service in a very nice hotel. Wonderful location. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
I would highly recommend the Amalfi to anyone visiting Chicago. It is very central to the downtown area and within walking distance of many attractions. It is certainly not the cheapest option (not sure I would want the cheapest option anyway) but offers great value with continental breakfast and evening Hors de oeuvres and drinks included. The staff are most helpful, courteous and friendly. Rooms are clean, fresh and well serviced. If you're going to Chicago definitely stay at the Amalfi.
The Amalfi Hotel was a terrific place for 2 youngish empty nesters to enjoy Chicago. (If you're looking for a family-friendly place or a super-fussy place, you should look elsewhere.) We greatly enjoyed the mod decor and the hotel's simple sophistication. The free continental breakfast bar on every floor was wonderful--we loved being able to grab a light breakfast and good coffee and take it back to our room. We didn't have a chance to attend the manager's reception on this trip, but will try to do so when we return. We come to Chicago several times a year and will definitely stay at the Amalfi Hotel again!
The Almafi Chicago hotel was a very comfortable hotel that is a boutique hotel. It had an excellent daily happy hour. The room was large and comfortable, although the views were somewhat limited. Additionally, there is no restaurant in the hotel, so room service is not an option. However, the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful in providing suggestions for local and nearby excellent restaurants.
This is a gem in downtown Chicago. Convenient to restaurants and a short walk from Michigan Avenue. Very clean and contemporary with outstanding amenities, including a well equipped exercise room and continental breakfast. Definitely exceeded my expectations.
Okay, worth it for the location Staff were helpful but not overly so, no closet to hang up clothes nor a proper table to eat breakfast which is served by the lifts on each floor (would have expected a proper place to each for a 4+ star hotel). Locatio was excellent though and the rooms were clean and beds comfortable.
The Amalifi Hotel was in the perfect location - just minutes away from Michigan Avenue and the Ford Center for the Performing Arts theater. The hotel had a nice fitness facility and a wonderful free breakfast.
The Amalfi was a marvelous hotel near many Chicago sites and easy access to public transportation. The staff was friendly and very approachable. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well sized. The bathroom was much larger than expected. We were able to end the day with a complementary cocktail in the lounge and share conversation with the other guests before heading out for dinner- wine, beer, and a selection of mixed drinks are served from 5:30-7pm. A continental breakfast was set out near the elevators in the morning. I would stay there again.
The Amalfi is an upper scale hotel that offers good value. It's very close to Mag Mile, etc. - within walking distance easily. The hotel staff were very friendly and right on top of our requests. The hotel was cleaner than most hotels I've stayed in. The continental breakfast fed us each morning and the manager's reception was awesome and complete with top shelf drinks - try the Amalfitini!
Will Stay there Again!!! The experience was terrific. Nice people and located in a convenient part of the city to explore shopping, restaurants, and conduct business.
i recommend this hotel this hotel was close to resturants, bars and clubs. door men and front desk people were very nice. the rooms were very clean.
The Amalfi Hotel in Chicago was great business hotel in the middle of everything! The rooms were very modern and very clean... the complementary bathrobes and slippers were a plus. But do not count too much on the continental breakfast, it is very limited. Overall we loved it and would recommend it to anyone.
We stayed at the Amalfi Hotel after attending The American Beauty Show. Location was convenient to downtown, shopping and eateries. The room was accomodating to our needs, comfortable bed, nice roomy bathroom. Their is a nice in hotel reception in the evening, I thought it was quaint and the buffet was quite tasty. Breakfast was also a nice treat the next morning. All in all Nice accomodations especially for the cost. We especially liked The House of Blues across the street. We would stay at the Amalfi again.
Best hotel we've ever stayed at in Chicago! My husband and I were thrilled with our recent weekend stay. The room was a decent size, plenty big for the two of us. The morning breakfast selection was adequate, as was the evening reception. The most impressive aspect of the weekend, however, was the willingness of the staff to accomidate our needs. My husband and I were going to the United Center for a concert and wanted to be certan we knew how to get back (we were taking a cab there). The gentleman at the desk told us that we would need to walk several blocks before we would be able to find a cab, bus service would take forever, and we didn't feel comfortable driving ourselves. So he offered to send a car for us when our concert ended! I was sold; we have stayed at a lot of hotels but never experienced such thorough customer service!
great location.. we had one day..visited Sears tower..millenium park..chicago institute of art..chicago cultural building was magnificent.. ate lunch at the Gage..many good restaurants located within walking distance of the hotel. Wanted to go to Harey Carey's-too long of a wait..burgers and beers at Rockits on the next block over was a pleasant surprise..
Great hotel, great value for money-highly recommended. Rokit which is the street behind is great, amazing burgers!
Great room, with a nice view, Didnt like the $40 parking fee for over night nor did i like the scratches in the door of my new truck, but over all it was a great place to stay i would go back but will find parking myself!!!!
Free drinks (just about any) and a fabulous spread (antipasto, cheeses, & breads) for happy hour, Free breakfast (mostly baked goods - which were excellent!) and Free Wireless. We travel a lot - mostly business, so we're surprised when accommodations in places like Vegas, NY, and Chicago offer FREE wireless. They can charge upwards of $16 for one day! Not here though, even the stocked bar seemed reasonable. As far as the robes and slippers-it was a nice touch, literally the softest robe I'd ever found in a hotel (and they're almost always in Large or XL).
One of the best deals in Chicago The Amalfi is unpretentious with all the amenities a business traveler or family needs. The continental breakfast on each floor is a very good deal. The manager's reception each night provides guests with the drinks of their choice from quality brands, and a very nice selection of finger foods. One can meet and mingle with other guests and share in a comfortable environment. The bathroom was excellent - spacious with good products and very clean. We went out and called to have our room serviced. It was done to a 'T" wthn an hour and a half. The front desk is very helpful with dining and nightlife suggestions. One of the best values I've encountered, and much friendlier than some of the major chains.
Location fantastic, high standard of hotel Stock up on breakfast. Individual bottles of fresh Tropicana juices for you to help yourself to and plenty of breads, pastries and muffins to take out with you. We only ate evening meals because of this.
Excellent Hotel The staff were really helpful and the buffet breakfast was excellent. The hotel was in a good position for all the shopping, theatres and landmarks. I would definitely stay there again.
My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for one night and had a great experience. We live in Chicago and occasionally like to stay a night or two in a hotel downtown. This boutique hotel was very chique, modern, and extremely comfortable not to mention in an excellent location that is walking distance to everything (food, shopping, blues bar, jazz club, restaurants, etc.). The staff was very friendly and gave us an extra large room with a southwest view of the city. The breakfast bar was yummy and covenient. Unfortunately, we didn't check out the free happy hour, but since I definately plan on returning I will have to check it out then. I would definately recommend coming here!
This is a wonderful hotel! Everyone was very friendly and cordial! We were meeting friends at the restuarant right next door. So it really worked well for us! The later check - out (12pm) also is great!
Very convenient to all the Downtown amenities. I would definitely recommend it for business travelers and those staying just to see the Chicago sights. Not every child friendly (doesn't have a pool, more upscale style). The breakfast buffet was wonderful!
This hotel is conveniently located and well maintained. The room was comfortable.
The Amalfi Hotel Chicago was perfect, great location, very comfortable and a well done exucutive breakfast that made our visit all the better.
The room was clean. I wish there was a hotel bar, as well as a steak house. When you travel alone steak houses can be intimitating as a female. The gym was fine for what I used it for. The staff could have been alittle more professional at times.
I have stayed at this hotel many times. The staff meets whatever you need have. Check in was fast. Love the morning breakfast bar on each floor - I wear my robe to get food to bring to my room. The drinks and Italian snacks are really upscale. The hotel is close to everything. Really a great small hotel.
We've stayed here anytime we can. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. The breakfast is convenient and the staff is wonderful. We've tried other hotels but we keep retuning because of the location and amenities.
Very happy with stay and would go back again.
The rooms at the Amalfi were comfortable and clean. I liked that we could easily fit 2 of us in the bathroom at once. The hotel does not have a restaurant or a bar. They do, however, provide complimentary drinks and snacks in the afternoon. It was nice that shopping and restaurants were within walking distance. Not a bad value for the location and price.
The Amalfi Hotel is an excellent getaway hotel. I loved the decor and aroma therapy that hits you the minute you walk in the door.
for business in the city this is the place to be. great location easily found entertainment just around the corner. would definitly go back
Good Price, Clean rooms, Close to shopping and Resturaunts.
The Amalfi was a treat. Staff was perfect - attentive and professional when needed - and quietly in the background the rest. Breakfast and the Manager's reception are a real perk - saves time, and money! We met up with a couple the first evening and looked forward to each evening meeting up again to compare notes on the days explorations. Great location - convenient to public transportation, with so much to do in Chicago - we didn't get it all in in 4 days - so when we return in 2009 for the opening of the new wing of the Chicago Art Institute - we'll definately be back at the Amalfi!
My wife and I spent the weekend @ the Amalfi and totally enjoyed our stay there. While there is no restaurant in the hotel there are numerous places to eat on the same block. There is a very nice continental breakfast offered every morning which prevents the need to go elsewhere at least for the morning. I would highly recommend the Amalfi to anyone and I intend to stay there on any return trips to Chicago.
The hotel was simply outstanding! The check in experience was both unusual and excellent. Registration felt very personal and very warm. The reception by all the staff was very courteous and friendly. The free continental breakfast was excellent as was the free happy hour in the late afternoon. The location was very close to all the activities of downtown Chicago and the area is clearly on the upswing with excellent restaurants all around.
The Amalfi hotel exceeded our expectations. We booked it because of the great rate, good location, and the good reviews. We spent the night there to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. Upon arrival to the room, we immediately noticed something was wrong - it was a suite! We called the front desk, and they indicated to us that we had been complimentarily upgraded. Nice! That immediately put us in a great mood and we felt it was a great touch to our special occasion. This hotel has complimentary happy hour on the 6th floor. It was a dimly lit conference room that had about half a dozen tables and a couple of couches. A sports channel was playing on the flat screen tv. They had a beautiful appetizer layout - wonderful cheeses, sliced meats, sauteed vegetables, and focaccia bread. It was delicious. They also offered drinks, and the bartenders offered anything from water, soda, beer, wine, and martinis. It was crowded when we got there, so we enjoyed our goodies in the comfort of our room. After spending the night out, we returned to find a bottle of wine. Again, another very nice touch! This hotel turns down beds and leaves Ghiradelli chocolates to enjoy. In the morning, we found a lovely spread of danishes, donuts, sconces, bagels, etc. along with bottled juice and coffee, on a buffet at the main entrance off of the elevators.
We stayed here for 3 nights and it rained for the first two and it seemed the staff did not like the rain, because they did not help us with our bags. Other than that it was a fast check in and the free wireless internet in the rooms was great. The reception at night was nice, but is in a small room and was always packed, get there early. If you hit the morning buffet at the wrong time in the morning you may find it picked over, check back later because they sometimes put more out. The rooms are very nice and so are the bathrooms. The location is nice and you can always walk or get a cab. This hotel is very business oriented but I would stay there again.
This hotel was a great experience for my first time in Chicago. The location was fantastic for shopping on the Miracle Mile, catching the bus to the museums or just strolling the streets of the city.
I stayed 4 nights with my college age sons. We found the staff to be friendly, accommodating and professional. The location is very convenient for seeing the sights of Chicago, with easy access to public transportation, as well as being within easy walking distance of the Miracle Mile.
Yup, I like this hotel as i gave it an excellent rating most for its cleanliness. The service, location and value is good. That's great hotel so go and check it out!
Three of us went for a girl's getaway (4 nights) and loved this hotel. Quick and courteous check-in, helpful doormen and accomodating housekeeping staff. We loved the robes and slippers ( no problem getting extras for the third guest) Great Aveda products, complimentary loan of umbrellas, chocolates at night were super. The beds are super comfy. Location PERFECT for everything. LOVED the morning buffet right outside our door and we always got back to the hotel in time for the Amalfatini's and nibbles at 5:30. We all intend to recommend this hotel to our friends. EXCELLENT value.
Pleasant hotel, good-sized room, very quiet, clean, excellent service, good continental breakfast and snacks, excellent location
For the price, I thought the Amalfi was very nice and had a really fun vibe. It was decorated really well and felt fairly luxurious. The staff was very nice and helpful, everything was clean and comfortable. The linens in the room were high quality and the bed was great. They offer a happy hour AND a continental breakfast on EACH FLOOR daily, which I also thought was really nice. I felt like the location was good, although I'm guessing it was slightly less expensive because it's maybe a LITTLE farther out then some, but it's definitely worth it. You know you're going to be walking in Chicago anyhow or taking cabs, but there was a subway stop close by too. If you don't really care for the modern thing then maybe it's not for you, but I had a really enjoyable time there and highly recommend it, I'd definitely stay there again.
Loved the service, cleanliness, location, and atmosphere though room was smaller than expected for price. Concierge was wonderful!! Amenities were like b&b but did not include breakfast. Glad we went there once. Interesting place.
Excellent facilities and rooms high standard
This is a centrally located hotel offering comfortable accommodations. A continental breakfast on each floor is an unusual find in Chicago hotels. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
We stayed there for July 4 weekend. The location is convenient. The room is specious, modern and very clean. I liked the impressive continental breakfast on each floor, the even cocktail refreshment are wonderful. You may dial "I" on the room phone for tourist info from the Hotel, instead of going to the "City Tourist Office" to get suggestions for sightseeing, dinning etc.
Staying at the Amalfi was one of the best things about my time in Chicago this June. Every step of the process from getting a very reasonable rate for my 25th Anniversary to the Bellman assisting us with our bags as he hailed us a cab was effortless. The staff was awesome and the hotel even had my favorite Wolfgang Puck coffee! I loved the breakfast right outside our door and best of all, the open bar in the evening! EVERY EVENING! The rooms were spacious, the beds wonderfully comfortable and the ambiance was romantic. The Michigan Ave shopping was only a stone's throw away and we were even able to walk to our favorite restaurant India House. The Amalfi is definitely nestled in a very strategic location. Our experience at this hotel there was superb and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
I don't have very high standards for hotels and motels (Motel 6 is just fine) but this hotel drops below even that very low bar. I would leave the hotel at 8:00 am for meetings and would return at around 1:30 to 2:00 pm. In each instance, the room was still not made up when I returned. When I called the housekeeping department I was told that the maids have until 4:00 pm to make up the rooms. At that point I hung a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my door and started checking my email and making telephone calls. Then there came a persistent knocking on the door and, when I ignored it, the door opened and the maid came in. I wanted to yell out "What part of 'Do Not Disturb' don't you understand?," but she probably didn't speak English anyway. The front desk clerk doubles as the concierge, and when you ask for restaurant recommendations it's apparent he is totally clueless. Generally, most of the staff appears to be paid minimum wage, and the service reflects that. Avoid this place at all costs.
Very convenient; accomodating; spacious room.
Give that yahoo an up date on the hotel Amalfi in the Chicago area.
This is the best place to stay in the windy city. The door men are the best in the city. I am lost for words.
Excellent, comfortable hotel in prime area of Chicago. Very comfortable beds.
I gaveve a night at this hotel as a gift. I was promised some hotel amenity (wine or champagne)which was never delivered. The couple returned to the room at night, and there was ONE robe and ONE pair of slippers and ONE chocolate on the bed. After I complained to the general manager, he never returned my call as promised. Only friendly people were the doormen.
The hotel was pleasant but off the beaten path. Too far off Michigan Avenue (Magnificent Mile). The hotel only occupies the first 6 floors of the building so there is absolutely no view except the ugly construction site across the street. The room was pleasant but unremarkable and on the small side. I would not choose to stay there again.
In my opinion, it's quite good. I like their beds and pool . Moreover , the internet connection can help you to contact with your family . Try it and you can feel I sag right ^^
A free Happy Hour every night on our floor, free snacks and the drinks were very good and loaded! It was like being in a bar without the high prices, it was a great start to the night. We got all toasty before heading out for a night on the town. The staff were great and they treated us very kindly. We truly enjoyed this hotel.
I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with this small downtown Chicago hotel. There are bigger and fancier hotels in Chicago, but everything that adult couples, singles or business travelers could need is here. I noticed no facilities for children and there is no pool but there is a workout room with quality equipment.
Made our stay in Chicago a perfect birthday happening
Overall Overpriced with average amenities and pretentious yet clueless service associates with smug titles (e.g. Experience Designer) who did nothing.
This was a great hotel to stay at, my girlfriend and I had a great time. We enjoyed the complimentary drinks and breakfast. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly giving advice for restaurants and clubs.
the hotel was great. the room was great. the food was great. the pool was great. the service was great. i would stay here again.
Very centrally located for shopping and theater. There are a variety of restaurants in the area. It was fun to walk and just find one. The rooms were large and very comfortable and the evening cocktail hour was a very pleasant surprise.
Good hotel for in and out business traveler. It may be good for others, but I'm not sure. Great location, and certainly met my needs.
We stayed at the Amalfi for the first time a few weeks ago. It was lovely! The rooms are beautiful. The beds are very comfy, and the bathroom is stocked with Aveda products. And the pastries for breakfast. Also Harry Carry's is right across the street. The best steaks and chops we've evr had. We will be going to Chicago again soon and will definetly stay there again!
We loved the location as we like to shop in the loop as well as Michigan Ave. We also went to the theater, which was within walking distance. Good restaurants nearby also. The hotel met our needs very well and except for the one rude person on the phone, I have absolutely no complaints and would stay there again.
This hotel offered a free happy hour which was a pleasant surprise. I felt safer having a beer there than in the surrounding neighborhood which seemed kind of sketchy. At night, it was very quiet. That was great too.
I liked everything in the hotel. But you need a pool it's not fun without a pool.Butt rather than that it was great.
This hotel was in a fantastic location (Our local friends told us so). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean, tidy and spacious. It was constantly valeted by the domestic staff, with chocolates left on the bed at night. The reception staff could not be faulted and gave every assistance when recommending restaurants and help in booking tours and trains. Hotel amenities were a very good standard, gym, internet and breakfast (set out on each floor), were easily available. We were concerned about some previous comments but have had nothing but a positive experience in all respects. Highly recommended.
The hotel was clean and close in proximity to everything. The best feature about this hotel is having the internet connection. I was able to research all the best places to eat as well as find out how close they were to the hotel through mapquest. Chicago is a great town and this hotel is in a perfect location. When I come back to Chicago I will definitely stay at the Amalfi! We were very pleased.
Right from the hotel front desk,i knew it was going to be a wonderful esperience...courteous ever smiling staff, neat rooms, complimentary breakfast(you gotta try it),it was really awful. My family and business associates now stay at the hotel anytime they are in Chicago and they all have the same thing to say...BEAUTIFUL
I had a great stay at the Amalfi when it first opened.Rooms were wonderful and service great...excellent location as well! Would definately stay there again.
My wife and I were in town for a wedding. We had one night to spend downtown. Making the trip from Baton Rouge, we were looking forward to a good night in a great northern city. We were welcomed at the Amalfi by a wonderful staff. The check in was easy and efficient. We were assisted by the staff in finding some great entertainment for the evening. Upon our return to the hotel later that night, I realized I'd forgotten my cell phone charger, no problem the hotel had spares available (Thank you). The next day we were fortunate enough to have some friends taking us to a Cubbies game. I had planned on driving up to Wrigley. The staff gave us some GREAT advice and told us to leave the car and take the EL up to the game. They held our bags at the desk since we'd checked out of our room. This was a great experience and saved us time and MONEY. The rooms at the Amalfi were excellent, the toiletries were wonderful, the staff was so helpful and accomodating. Great location and overall a great experience.
This hotel is in a perfect location, has a very friendly staff, and offers a lot of little perks that make the stay that much better. Free continental breakfast on every floor, so you don't have to wander down to the lobby. Complimentary evening cocktails. WiFi included for your laptop in every room for free. Beautiful linens. Aveda bath products. I would highly recommend staying there.
Stayed here last August for the weekend, and from check-in to check-out we were totally impressed with EVERYTHING about this place!
I stayed at the Amalfi for five nights in March, on business. The rooms are large and meticulously clean. Bathrooms are spacious and equipped with Aveda products. Housekeeping and staff are courteous and go out of their way to please.
i liked this hotel for the following reasons.
I've stayed there several times, and my husband stays there a lot on business.
Marvelopus munchies & Amalfitinis upstairs allow one to delay dining out 'til much later. Breakfast goodies in the elevator lobby make it easy to get coffee before getting dressed after the night out. Location is fantastic, service great, rooms small but chic. Only problem: dogs apparently allowed so allergic friend won't stay there.
This hotel was good in all aspects. A nice place to enjoy. Good service was given by the hotel staff, would like to visit this place again along with my family and friends.
The Amalfi Hotel is a modern hotel with service reminiscent of the good old days. Hospitality greets you from the time you are treated to complimentary soft drinks, coffee, water, and a bite to eat while going over your travel plans and itinerary with a personal "experience designer." The hotel excels in comfort providing large, extremeley clean, and spaciouis rooms.
We loved the smallness, atmosphere and intimacy of this albergo in the big city...especially loved the morning breakfast buffet on each floor. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Even the other guests seem to be affected by the charm of the place. Only downside was the size of the room, however the tremendous pillows and bedding certainly was a huge plus...am sending all of my friends there.
I stayed at the Amalfi for a week, prior to moving to Chicago and enjoyed feeling pampered. Right off the bat, they were considerate of my situation. I was moving to Chicago and had my cat with me. They took time to say hello to her and try to make her feel at home. The staff was quite friendly and accomodating. Every morning there was a wonderful spread of fruit, juices, coffee, and pastries. Every evening, they had a complimentary happy hour where the guests can have a few drinks and appetizers and get to know each other. I had a very nice time here and would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
this is a low budget hotel with poor service and dirty rooms, please stay away!
This is a great place to stay in Chicago, quiet, elegant, and in a great location.
No charge for pets and very classy! Very neat chic design and no charge for cocktails and internet either! I loved the two room suite!
When you stay in any hotel you usually like to return to a clean room after you've run around Chicago all day. I returned to my room the first night and the bed was somewhat fixed, the cup that I had used to make tea the night before had an old tea bag in it, the ironing board was left out with iron on it, clothes and bags were not neatly folded or put back in the closet. This was just the first night. The second night I told the concierge to make sure the room was adequately cleaned and the only change was that maintenance replaced the tea cup with the old tea bag in it. No new tea was brought to the room to replace the old, I could not get new tea for my fiance because room service stops at 11:00pm. The concierge said he would try to get some tea but we haven't heard from him yet and now I am back in my home city. In addition, there is a time between 5:30pm and 7:30pm where the hotel sets up a room on the fifth or sixth floor to serve hors d'ouvres but the wait staff there was incredibly rude making comments in Spanish that I could understand because I am a native speaker. One of the waiters called me a "pistolero" which means gun slinger referring to me being well dressed with my beautiful fiance, and the other waiter stated to his buddy that I was just an assistant to my fiance - referring to how I was not worth more than that to be with such a beautiful woman. After I finished my food I approached these two cowards and told them that I appreciated their services but that their negative comments were a little much - I spoke to them in Spanish so that they would understand me. Then they have the audacity to respond with a okay - thank you. I also feel that I should mention that in general the rest of the staff (concierge and the like) were not very helpful at all - they seldom knew what directions to give out or didn't give them out correctly and they did not know very much about the shows playing locally. The amenities this hotel offers are nothing to scream about - the best feature out of everything was the double headed shower in the bathroom. Otherwise it was substandard in every way compared to other hotels.
I stayed at the Amalfi for a girl's weekend in Chicago. The hotel met our needs perfectly. It was clean, safe, and in a great location. An easy walk to Michigan Mile for shopping and food and bars located right next door. The staff was polite and very helpful when we had questions about the city.
This place has it figured out. They have high speed internet access in every room. They have friendly staff that talk to you and are helpful. They have a free breakfast that is excellent and conveniently located on everyother floor - you don't have to 'walk far' from your room and you can bring it back to your room. Plus, no stale bagles and lousy coffee. All fresh, and really good! Great and comfy rooms. I will be back again and again.
We loved everything about the Amalfi Hotel. Location was great, right across the street from the famous restaurant/bar, Harry Caray's. Service was some of the best I have ever received from a hotel. Free continental brekfast and free nightly drinks - need I say more? The hotel seemed like it just opened, super clean. The lobby smelled great. The desk clerks at the reception area were very knowledgable and extremely helpful. This was simply a great place to stay. If I was going back to Chicago or knew somebody that was looking for a place to stay in Chicago, I would definitely recommend the Amalfi Hotel. We stayed in a suite and the view was absolutely amazing. We loved the Amalfi and hope to return soon.
The Amalfi was wonderful. Every person I encountered was extremely nice and accomodating. They let us check in early, check out late, and they checked our luggage since we had a late flight.
