Der Beste 4 Sterne Hotel in Malaga.
The "Malaga Palacio" is an excellent choice for visiting Malaga's three main historical sites, e.g. Cathedral and Roman Theatre are 100 and 200 metres away respectively. The hotel's address would make it easier to find if it gave it at the east end of Alameda Principal. If you catch the metro from the Airport to the Centro terminus, it is about 10 to 15 minutes walk to hotel. If you see Cortes Ingles department store, walk along that road in OPPOSITE direction to and away from the store. I stayed 3 nights at the hotel, Wednesday 6-Saturday 9 February 2008. It is one of some 60 hotels in AC Group (AC seem to be the initials of the names of its founder). It is a quality hotel, strong on modern design, stainless steel and glass, and black and brown colours, I had room 1013 facing the port. Good views and not too noisy. It had a large double bed, armchair, desk, and plenty of cupboards and drawer space. The minibar contained soft drinks and beer. NO CHARGE is made for these drinks which are replaced daily. I have never come across this free service in any hotel anywhere in the world. There is no kettle, iron or ironing board however. Bathroom had a powerful shower over the bath, WC and bidet. Hotel provided toothbrush and paste, disposable razor, comb as well as usual shampoo. A very well equipped bathroom in my experience. My complaint about the room was that the air conditioning did not cool the room. It pumped out varying degrees of hot air. I complained twice to Reception but they said nothing could be done. "Simply switch it off and open door to balcony" was their advice. I did, and was then able to sleep. On the 15th floor there is a triangular shaped outdoor pool, about 25 m in circumference. It is NOT heated. I swam once but it was too cold even with sun shining on me. Behind the main post office and metro station is an O2 Wellness Centre with a 25m indoor pool, which I used twice. I had breakfast in the 2nd floor restaurant. Buffet style : several juices, some fresh fruit and yoghurts, cheeses, smoked meats but no fish. Several breads and cereals. About the norm for this quality of hotel. There is no business centre in the hotel. I found several small Internet shops in the central area. Most other guests appeared to be business people (mainly male). Very few tourists like me. Many hotel staff struggled to understand or/and speak English, so it may be necessary to put your question again using different words. I booked and paid in advance a daily rate to include breakfast of EUR 128 per night.
I loved the scenery and all the beautiful spanish-speaking people. The hotel rooms wer very clean and the workers were friendly. I took my two children with me and they loved playing in the pool! When I go back to visit, I'm staying at this hotel again. It's fantastic!
Great hotel, centrally located. The best of 4 hotels we stayed in, in Andalusia. We didn't see much of the city because stayed in to swim in the rooftop pool, and to have a relaxed dinner on the roof terrace looking out over the harbor. Beautiful room with complimentary minibar, gorgeous bathroom, valet parking for 15 euro's, great service. Worth your money.
I booked this Hotel for two nights in August because I got a great rate off travelres.net - I went with my significant other to spend a few days in Malaga before going down the Costa Del Sol. The Hotel would be great for a conference, its very minimalist, very smart with plenty of meeting rooms etc - maybe not the best holiday or relaxation hotel but in saying that I truelly enjoyed our stay there. The bedrooms were spacious (for a city centre hotel) with balconys , we had a fantastic view over looking Malaga port and the main tree lined avenue. As per previous reviewers advice I requested a room above the 6th floor and got onto the 10th floor which was really worth it. The bathrooms are great , spacious and with plenty of little hotel amenities like toothbrush, sewing kits, comb, shampoo , lotions , packet of tissues etc. Free mini bar only contains one bottle of alchol - San Miguel Beer but has plenty of soft drinks and bottles of mineral water which they replenish during your stay. The rooftop pool was small but fantastic - with a lovely restaurant on the top floor beside it. You can get great views out over the city by going up to the rooftop pool and we did plenty of sunbathing and swimming. The best thing about the hotel is the location which is so central, just parrell to it is their main shopping street, the fabulous breath taking Cathedral and millions of windy streets with lovely tapas bars and bars , some in the Cathedral square - we paid €4.40 for a beer and a glass of wine in front of the Cathedral ! The conceirge at this hotel is great with calling taxis, helping with luggage and recommending restaurants
We spent two nights at this hotel and would definately return. It was in a perfect location - close to everything. Very modern and good sized room. Beautiful view. The service was good too. It is worth it too to get the breakfast included when you book. Website photos are accurate.
Right in the down town area, this hotel is one of the AC group of hotels which specialize in facilities for business travelers and tourists. Minimalistic stylish furnishings, on counter basins, lots of glass! sleek wooden floors (can be a problem noise wise if hotel busy) White towels and white linens . English TV channels, CNN. Staff will park cars off site or you street park. Lots of cafe's restaurants wonderful cathedral. Don't pass it by.
We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel.............best to be on 13th floor away from street noise......room only.breakfast very expensive, but will sell you tea and toast with a look of amusement on their faces! Recommmended...
Malaga Palacio is a Spanish luxury hotel with fabulous views of the harbour, the cathedral, and the old city. Be careful to specify the view that you want, since some rooms have no view at all. Location is within walking distance of all the major tourist attractions; you can buy opera tickets at a nearby Unicaja office and catch almost all the city buses within a block. Breakfast features fine Spanish hams, fresh fruit, and omelets cooked to order. The staff is generally helpful, particularly the night staff. If you depart before breakfast begins, they bring a tray to your room. The minibar is free and includes bottled water and good Spanish beer. Minor complaints include the following: wi-fi internet connection is overpriced and unreliable; roof level pool is not heated. Also, there is lots of noise from trash collectors, parties in the adajacent public gardens etc. So ask for a room on the 8th floor or above.
I have stayed here several times and always really enjoyed it. The rooms are good and the minibar is free. No kettle but room service is cheap. Good G&T in the bar! Tiny pool on the roof a bonus. Ideal location for the town, right by the Cathedral. Good value.
Stayed here on business for two nights and was presently surprised by the hotel. There was renovation in progress which meant that the bar was not available, but drinks were served in an area of the restaurant. The room was of a good size with a comfortable bed and an excellent bathroom with a powerful shower. As my stay was during the Winter season the air conditioning was not operating and as a result the room was hotter than I would have wished. Opening the door to the balcony allowed some cooler air to enter the room, but also allowed the traffic noise in - this could be a problem for a light sleeper. The breakfast buffet (16 Euros) was excellent with plenty of choice including freshly squeezed orange juice, cereals, fruit, and a range of hot and cold foods. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants and bars in the old quarter of the city and we had some excellent meals at very reasonable prices. There is a taxi rank right outside the hotel for longer journeys. The staff were welcoming and friendly and humoured our pitiful efforts to order our drinks in Spanish. Wireless Internet connection is available at a cost of 12 Euro for 24 hours which I felt was somewhat on the high side. In contrast the in-room mini bar (stocked with water, beer and soft drinks) was completely free.
We got a reasonable deal through expedia (about £60 a night) which was good value. The hotel is in a great location in the heart of Malaga, with clean and well designed rooms. Nice roof top pool with great views. Service from reception staff a bit hit and miss. One lady was extremely helpful, another was plain rude. But this is not a hotel to hang around in as Malaga is such a pleasant place to spend a few days and nights. Do go to the Picasso museum and go to the beach for some fish and sangria! Would happilly return to Malaga and this hotel.
Well, if you are looking for charm and character then this is not the place, but then those types of properties are hard to find in Malaga itself. We would have preferred the parador but it was full. However, this hotel cannot be beaten for location being next door to the Cathedral/Old Town/Harbour etc. and the rooms (while rather sterile - typical of a chain hotel) were spotless with a good large bathroom and a balcony. The lobby was rather unwelcoming & austere. Breakfast was a bit pricey but good and varied and given the location it was relatively quiet for a Spanish city hotel. The Spanish start the evening late so be advised & take earplugs if you want to leave the window open! The door to our minibar had fallen off and it took 2 days to get it fixed and the only other problem we had was that, while they advertised private parking, it was never available for the 4 nights we were there and the public parking around the corner cost €21.75/night. It was clean & comfortable, if not memorable!
This is a fab city hotel. We stayed in Malaga as the first part of an Andalucia tour. The city is quiet and very Spanish. there are great tapas bars near to the hotel and it is very close to the castle and cathederal and sea. We has a standard room on the 11th floor with a balcony and fantastic sea views over the harbour. The room was very quiet despite the central location. The roof top pool and spa facilities and gym are great and the added perks of free minibar and free drinks, towels and slippers around the pool and gym are an extra bonus. the staff are professional and helpful but not especially friendly. However they were unfazed that we checked in at 4am which was great.
We found that this was a great hotel for spending a few nights in central Malaga. We found that the staff on reception were 'functional' but not rude as others have commented. Cleaners and breakfast room staff were all reasonably friendly and polite. The room was large and comfortable and with it being at the end of the corridor had good views over both the Cathedral and the Alcazba. Lovely bathroom with both a bath and shower, and the free minibar (although it didnt contain much) was a good touch and was topped up daily. We also had a small box of chocolates on first arriving, which were quickly munched through! Breakfast was very good, and with plenty of places to eat within a few steps this was the only meal we had in the hotel. The square in front of the cathedral has a nice ambience in the evening with the Cheers restaurant having a violinist and a flutist playing, although the other restaurants (from where you can easily hear the music) had better food. Pool area of the hotel was very nice with good views, nice facilities, towels and bottles of water in a mini fridge. All in all an ideal hotel in a city where a few days can easily be filled.
Had a terrible stay at this hotel. Room was not clean when we arrived and got worse throughout the trip as they rarely cleaned - even when we left the sign out to do so - don't think they ever swept the floor the whole week. Garbage was left on the counter for most of the week. We requested twin beds but they were pushed together so it might as well have been 1 bed. There is no concierge and the front desk staff was rude, rude, rude. They gave us mostly wrong answers to our questions (we found out the hard way). They were annoyed with any question, second question very irritable, then turned their back if you had a third question - too bad. Even the bartender was rude. The only nice staff were the men that helped us with our luggage. The pool on the roof was nice as was the view from the roof - but they turned off the elevator to the roof outside of pool hours, so we could not enjoy the morning or sunset view from the roof. Food in the restaurant was OK but very expensive.
This hotel is an ideal location for a stay in Malaga city. It is extremely centrally located and within easy access of all the main city centre sites. The hotel itself is perfect. Rooms were as expected - good size. I had requested a balcony and got one. I also had a preference for a quiet room and this was also granted. Our room rate did not include breakfast but we did have breakfast at the hotel on two occasions. It is kind of pricey as it works out at €15 euro each but it was fabulous. If you can get a room rate including breakfast at a good rate then I would go for it. If not you can grab a very reasonable breakfast at the sqaure in front of the cathedral - there is one place there that does orange juice, tea/coffee and a croissant/ham cheese sambo for €2..75 each! The pool on the 15th floor is great. We used it regularly and there are clean towels and endless water supplied. This was great as the beach in town is very busy and we did not really like it. Malaga is a great place to go for a weeks sun, a city break etc. There are great restaurants near the hotel. I would higly recommend Gorki's for fab snacks and tapas. (this olace is just around the corner form the hotel on the way to the shopping area) Shopping is good - all the usual stores. In summary if I plan on heading back to Malaga I would defintiely stay in this hotel and would not even consider another option. It has everything, great location, great service and the swimming pool was a huge plus.
Tried this one in June because of all the plaudits of other Reviewers. We had a terrible time; positively rude staff, dirty room, no food available (the late night cafe is always eaten up straight away). Don't go. Mark Atkins, Birmingham, UK
We found that the AC Palacio to be very centrally located to just about everything! Shopping, restaurants, cultural, historical and arts. This is a gorgeous hotel while in Malaga. The amenities were quite sufficient and we enjoyed it very much. You can walk to just about everything while staying here!
We stayed in this hotel in April. We weren't on an executive floor, and as such didn't have any slippers or bathrobe. The free mini bar was appreciated (a range of soft drinks, and a bottle of beer). The rooms were clean (although the net curtains were in need of a wash). We had a room with a balcony with a view on the port (and the construction that is taking place there). With the window open there is a lot of noise from the traffic, but with the windows shut it is quite peaceful, although we were occasionally disturbed by the toilet flushing in neighbouring rooms. The buffet breakfast was very good, and is available until noon on weekends. All the staff (except one exceptionally grumpy receptionist) were very friendly. The hotel is conveniently situated next to the cathedral, with shops and restaurants, bars and museums a short walk away. We would stay in this hotel again.
We stayed for three nights, Sunday to Wednesday, February 2006. They had noted our request for a twin room with a view, non-smoking. They apologised that the rooms with the best view had king-size beds. We asked to see the twin-bedded and it was no problem - 13th floor on the corner with a picture window on two sides, lovely views over the city, facing the cathedral. The room was spacious, with a balcony and marble bathroom with power shower, bidet and great fittings. Toiletries were replenished daily and extra blankets were provided when requested. Breakfast was buffet style with lots of choice, from cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, cheeses, meats and various pastries, choice of full cream, low fat or soya milk. We didnt eat in the restaurant as there were lots of great places nearby - would recommend a small restaurant Gorki, eat outdoors, great menu choices, around 8 or 9 euros for mains. The hotel pool was closed (only open summer months) and the leisure centre was closed when we visited on Sunday. The free mini-bar was appreciated - water, soft drinks and beer. Taxi costs around 15 euros to the airport for 2, including 2 suitcases, I think its slightly less on weekdays, but there is a taxi rank literally outside the hotel. A word of advice - Malaga closes down completely and seems to sleep on Sundays so you will have difficulty in finding a restaurant open, particularly if there's a football match on! Touristy things were also closed on Sunday and some on Monday, so check before you go. Plenty to see and do - shopping, the market, ancient sites and buildings and good food. We hope to return and would definitely stay at the same hotel. Shop around for rates - we got 94 euros for Sunday, 124 euros Monday and Tuesday (incl breakfast) through eBookers:)
We chose the hotel based on location and the reviews we had read regarding the simplicity of AC Hotels. True to its word the location was excellent. The hotel was okay for a quick stay. We found the restaurant staff very abrupt and not friendly. The breakfast was good value for money; however dinner was lacking in quality for the price. The most disappointing feature were the beds. The mattress was so uncomfortable and hard we had a backache each morning on our three day stay. It was truly a disappointment and we did not change because all the rooms were similar. The staff were helpful but in a Spanish way.....very curt and quick with information. I would only recommend this hotel for a quick stay.
Walked in off the street got a room at 125 euros. Huge black marble bathroom very clean and well appointed room. Told there would be no view but at night a lovely view of the castle lit up and the side of the newly cleaned cathedral. Staff efficient and friendly, free mini bar with pop beer and water. Good central location cab rank at door for airport around 11 euros for ride.
We choose this hotel based on comments/feedback on trip advisor. The hotel really is in a great location near to all the main sites, shops, bars and restaurants. The views from the roof top pool are great. We were lucky with the weather and had the roof to ourselves most of the time we were up there. We stayed in a superior room, which was massive, and as well as a big bedroom had a sitting room - would not do this again as we didn't use this room - although having a robe was very nice!. The room, and public areas, were a bit shabby in places but in general the decor was very minimalistic and tasteful. Don't be fooled by the free mini bar as it consists of soft drinks/water plus one bottle of beer! The hairdryer in the bathroom was great, which in my view is very unusual in hotels. Although the hotel literature states that there is a free coffee bar when we asked staff at reception they seemed unaware of this - although on the last day we found out that there was coffee available from 12midnight until 7am. It was great having the use of a sauna, steam and gym. However you may find it is not switched on and if this is the case you have to call reception to get someone to sort this out (this took ages and my husband actually had to go down to reception eventually to sort it out).
Incredible place. Good location near nightlife and cultural sites, generously sized rooms, mini bar, big bath, reasonably priced laundry service, balcony if available, views of harbor and leafy boulevard. Taxis waiting at front door. Walking distance to good food, but hotel's breakfast served late had all Spanish or English/American food items, including Spanish meats, eggs cooked to order, coffee, juice and pastries. Rooftop pool with high views of Malaga finished off the experience -- you could look down at the Cathedral in your swim trunks and see most of the city at that height. Staff friendly and willing to accommodate all requests we found. I'd stay there again.
Great location, loved the pool - the views are magnificant, and the free bottles of water were most grateful...the room was spacious and clean and overlooked the port. Great free minibar! Would definately recommend for a short stay in Malaga - and go to the Tapas bar about 2 doors away from the hotel (turn right up towards the cathedral) - great free Tapas with every drink!
stayed here for one night for the fiera which is great fun! We had a great room on the top floor with fantastic views. The hotel is now a little shabby with marks inside the lifts and legs damaged on tables etc but you can not beat the location. Stay there for the location.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in July. I had pre booked from the hotel's own website and had requested a high floor room with a view of the harbour. The hotel gave us a room on the 13th floor with great views over the harbour as requested. The roof top pool was excellent and although not crowded on the first day we arrived ( a thursday) on the friday it seemed a lot busier although possibly with locals. Even so you could still get a bed and it wasn't crowded. The facilities are excellent at this hotel and it was a nice touch having a gym and sauna. It is more of a business hotel than a tourist hotel but this is a plus as there are virtually no children! The location is excellent and I would definitely stay here again.
Last weekend I've stayed in this hotel. I can say I'm used to nice hotels, but this one beats them all!! Great hotel, beautiful room, excellent service and personell and from the pool on the 15th (!!) floor a beatiful view over the city and harbour of Malaga. If you're going to Malaga, this is the place to be!!
Four of us (two couples) stayed for 5 nights in July 2005. It is the third time at this hotel and the standards have been consistent - spotless rooms, restaurant and super breakfast (13 euros) and very helpful staff. The location of this hotel is excellent - next to the cathedral and old town yet within 3 minutes of the Picasso museum and main sqaures, streets and restaurants. The majority of rooms at the front of the hotel have a balcony and view of the port (at no extra charge) My tip would be to ask for a port view room on the 9th 10th or 11th floor - this should guarantee a balcony with an open view. If you aren't allocated a suitable room then simply ask to change on arrival as the hotel is rarely full. The pool area on the roof (15th floor) is very welcome. Free towels and free bottled water are provided from a stock in the changing rooms - just help yourself. There are only about a dozen sunbeds but we've never had a problem getting one. Plenty of shade is available. Note that pool area is closed during winter months. Even if you don't sunbathe you should go there to get an unusual view of the cathedral (you look down on it) The free mini bar of mainly soft drinks in the bedroom is still available and this year a free mini bar (beer & soft drinks) and coffee and cakes are provided in the ground floor lounge between midnight and 7.00am 24 hour taxi rank outside is useful. If you are staying for few days then Malaga's best kept secret and my recommendation is that you visit Pedregalejo after 9.00pm (when the locals start to eat). This is a conservation suberb of Malaga located about 2 miles east, on the coast with a long promenade but no traffic. It is packed with open air fish restauarnts which have beach barbecues and is where the residents of Malaga eat cheaply. A taxi is about 5 euros or you can catch the no 11 bus opposite the hotel. This runs every 10 minutes during the day. The main tip is to use the hotel as a base and get out and enjoy yourself - we always do.
We stayed here for 4 nights just last week and booked on the strength of the great reviews and we were not disappointed. Agreeing with the previous reviewer, the location is excellent and not only is there free coffee between 11am and 5pm but also free beer, bottled water, fruit and pastries. Again agreeing with previous review, the lack of table and chairs on the balcony is a minus; nevertheless, the view over the harbour is lovely. Not all rooms overlook the harbour though. The blinds in the room were excellent at keeping incoming light to a minimum and this would be very necessary in high summer as the sun rises in this direction. There is a minibar in the room with free beer, soft drinks including coke and water, and fruit juices. Other drinks have to be ordered and paid for. Our rate included breakfast and this was an excellent buffet which included hot dishes and Cava. The Restaurant itself is very good and reasonably priced although the range of dishes is not big. The gym is small but modern. There is an underground car park not too far away. I found the staff very helpful without being in your face.
We were really pleasantly suprised by the AC Malaga. We had booked for 2 nights as the start of our trip around Andalucia at the end of October. Great rooms, very spacious & modern. Large bedroom, with radio/cd player (& free CD of ambient & classical music), seperate living room, huge bathroom. Lots of little extras like chocolates and beers all foc. Never found the free coffee & water mentioned in previous reviews but breakfast was first class. Try and get a room facing over the Parque de Paseo if you can, we had a room with balcony but it faced over the building site up the road from the Cathedral.
We stayed 1 night Nov 2004. For a city break, the hotel is in a great location in the center of Malaga and quite easy to find. Your car is taken away by staff (18 Euro per day) and probably best forgotten because Malaga is congested. I did not like the hotel; it is large, impersonal, efficient and expensive. The style is last years modern and cold. On business; with someone else paying; then maybe.
This hotel was a little touch of luxury. The staff were extremely helpful and unassuming. The room was very modern and chic as was the entire deco of the hotel. The roof top pool with it's stunning views of the city meant that we did'nt even travel to the beach on our short 5 day trip to the city. The 24 hour taxi service just outside the hotel made transfere to the airport easy. I definately recommend this hotel to anyone.
We stayed here with our 8 year old son in a triple room (ie a very large double). Everything about this place was great, and of the 7 hotels we stayed in on our Spanish trip, it was a cut above the rest. Large room, good rates, spotlessly clean, helpful staff, great breakfast, free mini-bar, free cofffee bar, super comfy pillows/bed, roof top pool, great location.....the list could go on. Instead, I'd recommend you check it out yourself. 100% satisfaction guaranteed!
Excellent centrally located hotel with spotless air conditioned rooms. Staff very helpful and friendly. Pool on the roof is a bonus. Free minibar in the bedroom and also free minbar and coffee/cakes in the lounge between 12-5pm. Another feature is that the hotel has numerous fridges in public areas where you help yourself to bottled water. Restaurant has superb view of the port.
Wonderful location; unobtrusive and very gentle staff. Everything the hotel's stuff did for us during two weeks stay, from the fresh flowers in our room to the selection of magazines on the night table; from the lovely brunch (gratis!) where we got to meet few our new friends will long be remembered by us. M.& I. De Paolis
The AC Málaga Palacio was quite simply an Excellent hotel. Located in the heart of Málaga, across from the city's attractive port, and next to the Cathedral (also known as "La Manquita), the hotel is also perfectly located for walking to downtown sights like the Citadel, the Roman Theatre and the Gibralfaro Castle. The local nightlife, and there is much, is all easily accessible by foot. The area around the hotel also features many places to dine. The shopping is ample, and a large El Corte Inglés (Spanish high-end department store) is only a few blocks from the AC Málaga Palacio. For excursions away from the hotel, or if ones tired of walking, a nice convenience is the constant line of taxis waiting in front of the hotel to pick up guests. An inexpensive garage is located only one block from the hotels entrance if a rental car is kept street parking is limited around the hotel. For trips out of town by car, the hotel is located on a main avenue that feeds to the highways (autopistas). The airport, train, and bus stations are best reached by taxi. The room -- ours was a standard with king bed -- was large by European standards, comparable to a moderate sized US room. The stylish accommodation was modern minimalist with wood floors, satellite TV, two backlit closets with brushed glass doors, free mini-bar, and the bathroom was well sized with strong water pressure. Large windows and a sliding glass door looked out to the sea and the ports lighthouse was visible -- a nice sized balcony with chairs allowed us the opportunity to be outside as much as we wanted to, and with the incredible views it was a nice place to relax after a days worth of activities. The service was friendly, bilingual, and always willing to accommodate. Every morning the sleek dinning room offered a large Spanish breakfast with many varieties of sliced Spanish meats (ham, etc.), eggs cooked to order, fruit, Spanish cheeses, breads, pastries, coffee and juice. For warm days -- and there are many in Málaga -- the hotel offers a rooftop pool, lifeguard, and sun deck. From this high-up location the whole city can be viewed in panoramic form. The privacy, sparkling pool, the deck and view made for relaxing afternoons. This hotel was a pleasing combination of contemporary design, solid service, nice rooms, rooftop pool, and good Spanish foods. All this and it was an excellent value. The room prices may have risen in the last eighteen months, but I'd expect the AC Málaga Palacio to still be a good value. We paid $75 per night for a room that would have cost at least $350 in San Francisco, California -- just another reason to patronize this hotel and enjoy the southern city of Málaga. I plan to stay there again on my return to Andalucia. This was a world-class hotel in an exciting Spanish city. ¡Ole!
What a nasty room - small, worn, not terribly clean, and no AC after October. Web page claims robes in room and self parking - no robes and no self parking. Parking was 18 Euros per day. Wouldn't go back even if employer paid for room.
Stayed here for 3 nights in November. Room was laughably small and worn. Paid 93 euros on hotel site. Was our 4th trip to Spain where we always try to stay in Spanish-run hotels and we were very disappointed this time. There is no way this is a 4* by american standards, I would say maybe a 3* and liken it to a Hilton. Worst part about the place was the lack of soundproofing. The doors to the balcony are about 75% effective, but it is an extremely busy boulevard and there is substantial noise that goes along with the road. In addition, you could hear your neighbors talking through the walls and every step that people took in the room above you. Whenever plumbing was used in other adjoining rooms, you could hear that as well in your bathroom. I am shocked that other reviewers haven't called attention to this problem. My husband is a heavy sleeper and even he couldn't cope. Initially the room was clean, but after that, I noticed that the wood floors in our room were never once swept. I kept thinking that this was surely an oversight and finally just resorted to taking slippers from the gym for use while in the room. There were also no robes in the room (as was represented on the hotel site). The lack of an iron was unfortunate, especially given that this is a business hotel. Positives included the free minibar in the room which was restocked daily. The staff seemed helpful. They did grant our request for a harbor view room. Taxi stand out front was convenient. Having a balcony was nice (again, no chairs). The location is central, but if I return I would stay at the Don Curro or Larios, which also have nice locations on much quieter streets.
Myself and my wife stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights in Dec 2004 after seeing reviews about it. The location in Malaga could not have been better, central to everything with a Taxi rank right outside. The free coffee in the lounge was a nice touch and that area was a little oasis of tranquility away from the bustle of the city. We never found this coffee area to be overly busy though at a different time of year it might be. The bedroom was very comfortable, clean and a good size with a very modern decor, the bathroom was also a good size with a great shower. There was a balcony with a great view, one small drawback was no table or chairs on the balcony. Although it was very busy outside we were not disturbed by any City noises. The room rate did not include breakfast, there was a great variety of cereal, fruit hot and cold food on offer for breakfast. I would say the Hotel was reasonably priced for a central location in a City. If you are going to have a drink at the bar I would suggest you go out to one of the Local bars as the hotel is a bit pricey. We would stay at this hotel again.
My friend and I stayed at AC Malaga Palcio Hotel for three nights. The suite we had was huge with fabulous views across the harbour and the cathedral to the side. The Christmas lights in Malaga are absolutely fabulous. The sitting room was comfortable and very welcoming after a day sightseeing. The whole place was very clean. The staff at reception were warm and friendly and the service in the bar was good even if the price of drinks a little expensive but you did get a very good measure of brandy. I would certainly stay there again at this time of year as we got a very good deal on the room and it was certainly value for money.
I have never been to southern Spain before. So with a little hesitation I booked this hotel purely because of the advice from this website and some pictures you can see on Expedias web site.We stayed in Marbella the first night (read my review of the Gran Hotel Guadalpin) after going to Coin. The second night we stayed here after a day of inland site seeing in Rhonda and Garganta del Chora. The Hotel was easy to find - which in Malaga is a big benefit. Just head towards the centre and as you go down the main tree lined strip you will see it in among some fine old buildings and opposite the dock. The car will be valet parked for you in the hotels secure car park so dont mind just dumping it outside even though it is on double yellow lines.Service was prompt and friendly and the hotel has an air of trying to be stylish, with wooden floors and soft leather seating. Just past the lobby is a coffee bar where you can free coffee and pastries should you wish to do so.The room itself was of a good size and our room over looked the cathedral. The room again has wooden floors (laminate) and a nice bathroom with a free mini bar supplying beers and juices nice touch !It is a 15 minute walk up the hill to the castle and a 2 minute walk to the Picasso museum (with over 200 minor works) The modernised town is a minute away and loads of tapas bars are available. If you want a good hotel in Malaga and dont fancy being out of the way in the Parador then you really cant go wrong.Mr Anderson
