+ Clean rooms and good location. the breakfast buffet was good too. - One day our room door was left open after the cleaning. the door had been open for the whole day, but fortunately nothing was stolen.

+ I found the hotel ideally situated for the rambla and also the metro station. everything was reasonably close eg. beach restaurants, shops. we very much enjoyed our stay there. - The only problem we accounted with the hotel was the lack of draw space, there was none. only an inconvenience really, but would have made the hotel perfect.

This is an outstanding value. Clean with super friendly multilingual staff, this is a great little hotel. The breakfast is optional, but well worth the money. The location was great for seeing the city and yes the 5 minute walk to Las Ramblas is typical inner city, but this Barcelona not Beverley Hills. The bath was a clean modern surprise, and our room was very quiet. Would stay here again.

+ The hotel was basic but good value for money. - A little noisy in the evening and the area is mainly full of kebab shops and halal butchers.

+ The hotel staff were very friendly and greated you every time you exited or entered the hotel. they were also very helpful with directions and telling you the best and cheapest ways to get to where you want to go. the hotel itself was lovely. it wasnt over the top but just right. at night you could'nt hear a thing unless you had your window open as they were sound proof which was great. the morning buffet breakfast was fantastic. all you can eat and it's cheap with a great selection to choose from. also the hotel is located near everything. it's very close to the port and the ramblas. - The one thing that let the hotel down slightly was the area. its not a bad area but at night alot of men hang around and their are alot of dodgie side streets. i felt a little nervous walking through at night time and so did my wife and daughter, but as long as you are cautious you are ok. i had no trouble at all.

+ I absolutely loved this hotel. you couldn't ask for a friendlier staff. there were so helpful in letting us know of local places to go and how to get around and spoke perfect english which was very helpful. i would definitely stay here again if in barcelona.

The Abba Rambla is a lovely hotel with a great location. It is close walking distance (1/3 mile approximately) to Las Ramblas. The hotel was very clean with modern decor in the rooms. My room faced a busy plaza but the heavy duty windows kept the room very quiet! Room darkening draperies let me sleep in.

Enjoyed an excellet 5 days at the Abba Rambla! Rooms were immaculate and the staff couldn't be more helpful! In a great location just off Las Ramblas although you do have to pass a few 'colourful' characters on the short walk! 5/5

The first thing I would say is DO NOT BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS ABOUT BEING IN DANGER!!!! Seriously, people are being really over the top about this! We went when it was festival time for my hubby's birthday and it was great!!! Just be careful and safe and you'll be fine. Chose this hotel as we'd stayed at the Abba Graden hotel 4 years ago and it was lovely. We were not disappointed with our choice this year. Hotel are fab at letting you know which streets are best to use (they mark on a map with green and red felt tip!) and after that everything was cool. The road we called 'the hospital road' cos it was easier than saying it in spanish is fine for walking through during the day but basically has some hookers wandering on it after dark. There is another road 2mins up which is parrallel for you to use safely at night time. No problems whatsoever! If you're sensible and careful you'll have no issues, the same as any other city you'll visit. Hotel is soooooo clean! Very modern and perfect for a short stay right in the centre. Rooms aren't huge, but who goes to Barcelona to stay in their room all day?! Shower is fab and great air con when we were there. Free digi safe usage and plasma tv (only channel in english is bbc 24 but again who goes on hols to watch tv?!) Found a great little tapas bar across the square called La Fragua (ask for Leo who is Brazillian but speaks great english to help with any menu problems!) which serves great tapas and open til 1am for drinks and food til at least 11.30pm. The one a couple of doors up (don't know the name but windows have a symbol on them) were very rude and only open for locals? Pizza place called La Veronica serves only salads and pizzas with strange toppings (leek and gorgonzola?) - very nice but if you want some more authentic grub try the tapas places on Carrer de Carnes (road to walk to La Ramblas) or La Fragua. Even tho the festival was on and a huge stage and loads of stalls outside the hotel til after 12, the rooms in the hotel were soundproofed so no hassles with noise. Taxi from airport to the hotel costs approx 30-35 euros including a tip. Walk to La Ramblas is 10 mins and 15 to Placa De Catalunya. Reception staff were polite and always said hello and goodbye when leaving or coming in and happily ordered us taxis etc with no complaints. Maid service was fab, we had a long lie one day and they called from reception to ask if we still wanted room service and came after we left which was nice and they weren't rude at all. Altogether very impressed and would go again, but it's already booked up for the dates we want next year in June!

We stayed at this hotel at the end of March for a long weekend. At first I was a little weary of the area after reading the reviews, but once we got there, I found it ok. We were out after midnight most nights and found the walk back to the hotel fine. Hotel was great, staff were very firndly and helpful, telling you of places to visit etc. Rooms were very modern and clean, with fresh towels and stocked minibar everyday. Would definately stay here again.

Just spent Christmas in this hotel and was a bit concerned regarding peoples reviews on the position of the hotel. Yes, you do have to walk though some back streets to get there but we didnt see any trouble. I can imagine it can be a bit daunting for women on their own but if you walk through the square in the direction of the port you miss out most of these streets. In any case, it is just full of people going about their daily business and gives you a different side of Barcelona. You are more likely to become the victim of a pickpocket on the Ramblas than in these streets. The hotel itself was lovely - we had a room with a small balcony overlooking the square - which was noisy - but the double glazing was so good that once the windows were closed we couldnt hear anything. One thing - they have smaoking and non smoking floors -- we were on a smoking floor which wasnt a problme as the hotel wasnt full, but worth asking for a non smoking floor if you require it. Great breakfast selection and lovely decoration and comfortable rooms. All in all very good value for money and a great stay.

This is an excellent, modern hotel in a very central location. Having read some of the previous reviews I was a little concerned about area of the hotel. While it's certainly in a one of the more colourful parts of the city, some of the previous comments are perhaps a little over the top. I felt totally secure leaving the hotel on foot at 10.30pm and returning at 3am. It certainly was not necessary to book a taxi when leaving the hotel at night. The rooms are modern, very clean and comfortable. Staff were efficient, polite and spoke good English. Overall this hotel is highly recommended and offers good value for money.

We spent five nights at the Abba Rambla hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is located very close to the centre of the city and the harbour. The hotel is modern, clean, reasonably priced, and the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. I am happy to recommend it to anyone visiting Barcelona.

My girlfriend found Abba Rambla Hotel looking on the web. I checked Tripadvisor to see if there was any feedback and they were just ok. So we booked our stay (4 nights) there. The Hotel is brand new, the guys at the reception speak english and warmly welcome you giving you all the directions you would expect. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, with LCD TV on the wall and spacious bathrooms. The Hotel is 5 minutes from the famous Ramblas and the subway, 10 minutes from Plaza de Catalunya. There is a drawback: El Raval is not the nicest place in Barcelona and you have to be careful when it's dark. By the way, the receptionist will explain you which streets not to take, so just follow their advice.

Hotel Abba Rambla is a lovely new hotel just off the main Las Ramblas, in a very run down part of the city. Five females travelling together felt very uncomfortable in this area. Taxis everywhere, just to go round the corner.!! Hotel staff extremeley helpful, spoke good English, rooms were cleaned everyday to a high standard. A pity about location

Nice hotel. Fantastic staff who were friendly and always willing to help. A 3 star heading towards 4 rather than, as sadly is often the case, a 4 star drifting to 3. No pool or exercise area. Internet prices were too high but there are internet cafes at a stone's throw. It's very central but in a seedy area which is, if you worry about these things, its only really negative point. Spend a couple of euros and take a taxi back at night, it's still a lot cheaper than staying in a more up-market area. I would, without doubt try, to stay there again when next visiting Barcelona which I think is the best review a place can get.

The hotel is in a dangerous location situated just off lower end of las ramblas. The hotel and it's staff could not be faulted however because of where it is situated would strongly advise a taxi be taken to and from the hotel after dark. When leaving the hotel during the daytime walk upwards to the left and along the 2nd street and not the first onto las ramblas.

Stayed for 3 nights in November. The hotel was excellent value and very centrally located.

The Abba Rambla was absolutely perfect! It was off the beaten path, but only a 10 minute walk from La Rambla--don't think you can get any better than that! We rode the Barcelona Bus from Gerona/Girona and then bought our 2 Day metro ticket(a great bargain) and rode to the Liceu Station on La Rambla and walked till we saw the sign pointing us toward Rambla del Raval. A bit daunting on a Sunday morning but, it wasn't the scariest street I've been down. When the street finally opened up there was a gorgeous road similar to La Rambla laid out in front of us! And, within 5 seconds we had spotted Abba Rambla next to the cafeteria. Walking into the lobby, through the automatic doors we were greeted with Ole and Quique who spoke extremely passable English. Check-in took about 15 minutes but that was because we told him we were first time visitors and he gave us a Barcelona map and even pointers on what to go see and what was within walking distance. Then, he also told us about a tourist bus and said that the tickets could be purchased from the front desk. Also, he told us the room they had assigned us had twin beds but we preferred a king-size bed (travelling as a couple) and within 2 minutes they had us a wonderful room off the street with a huge bed in it. Taking the elevator to the our room, and we immediately realized this was a real jewel to have found at the price! Our room was 5 feet down the hallway and immaculate! The floors were wooden and there was a trouser press on the wall. The only weird thing was, because this was the first time I'd seen it, having to put one of the room keys in a slot next to the door to turn on the lights. The bathroom was tiled from floor to ceiling, and the towels were luxuriant! The TV was a new 18" LCD that worked like a charm, even though we only used it to see what time it was and for the weather. The windows in the room opened, and the thermostat was to be controlled at your own descretion. Also, there was a personal safe inside the wardrobe free to use whilst you were staying there. In the bathroom there's a full stock of toiletries! A razor, Q-tips, Toothbrush and toothpaste, shower gel and shampoo in the shower (big bottles so you can use liberally), shoe shine puff, cosmetic pads for astringent and things, soap, and glass glasses for your water or whatever else you might need it for. There was a bidet, with its own towel and then 2 hand towels, 2 bath sheets, and a bath mat. Also, they had left an extra roll of toilet paper in case you had run out. A hairdryer was on the wall, along with a nice mirror, and window that you could open for dissipating the steam after a shower--it opened onto a glass enclosed courtyard(unfortunately you couldn't get into the yard). There were hangers and shelves in the wardrobe, along with a full length mirror on the sliding door. Also they had left an extra pillow and 2 heavy blankets for our use. The bed was very comfortable, with almost body pillows as regular pillows for your head. Sheets were crisp and immaculately clean, but very soft and comfortable. We didn't use the mini-bar but it was stocked pretty well with juices, soda, and alcohol. Also, they had a laundry service that we didn't use. As well as room service that was a telepizza place that the front desk would place your order if you didn't speak Spanish. Loved Abba Rambla and plan on booking there our next trip to Barcelona--wouldn't stay anywhere else! If you seee Quique ask him about qu qu the restaurant!

The Abba Rambla is situated in the El Raval area of Barcelona, a five minute walk for the Ramblas. It has recently undergone renovation and inside is more of a 4* hotel than the 3* it has been given. The rooms are clean, have massive beds, large LCD screens, electric safe and nice clean bathrooms. For the price you think there has to be a catch and there is. The Abba Rambla, although extremely convenient for all the tourist attractions, sits in a rather intimidating area of Barcelona. The streets around are dirty and feature many of the poorer communities of Barcelona. At night it is safer to get a taxi from and to the hotel. We would definitely stay at the Abba Rambla again as despite the location it is a great hotel.

Folks, I hate that I took no pictures of this hotel. We booked it at the last minute out of desperation. I was very stressed that I wasn't going to be close enough the famous Rambla in Barcelona by booking here. HOWEVER, the Abba Rambla is located in the Rambla de Raval, which is only about five minutes to the middle of the Rambla. Take one right and you're there, even less of a walk to the major market. You can get to and from the bus and metro to get around or to the airport within minutes. Now to the hotel itself. All I can say is WOW! It has obviously recently been redone, as you could still smell the new carpet. You walk in and feel like you are in an Ikea store. It's very clean, very professional, and very cool. The rooms are small, but just right for two people. Hardwood floors, clean sheets, NICE bathrooms, flat panel TVs, and wireless internet. It's cheap, incredibly nice, and perfect for any tourist in Barcelona. (The reason I'm so excited about it is that I thought that booking the way I did, I would end up in a bad hotel.)
