We were also promised a courtesy bus to and from alicante town which also didnt materialise, so we had to pay for taxis in and out. The room had air conditioning which blew hot air. The safe could only be opened by inserting a euro coin, in the four days we were there we put in about 12 euro, (non refundable),The staff were unhelpfull and didnt speak english and a drink at the hotel bar went up in price by the minute, ending up at 5 euro for a vodka and 2.75 for a coke. The next time i want to be ripped off I'll stay at home for holdays

We have just arrived back from this hotel and were very dissapointed. The surroundings are very dirty and crawling with cats which soil the dirt tracks loosly called paths. The hotel has NO swimming pool and a tiny beech which you would not want to go near. This realy spoilt our holiday as there was no where to sit and relax. There is no shuttle bus and the walk to the public bus is very steep and uphill. If you are limited with your walking do not go here. We were there a week and only had cleen sheets on the last day. I would not recomend this hotel to any one, and we feel that a 3 star hotel should have a fridge in the room. Would we go again? NO WAY!

Dont stay here . It is a pit . Photos online look fine but dont be fooled this is way more Hostal than Hotel . The Hotel is off the edge of a cliff in a pit, close to nothing , although it say's 50 metres to the beach it is actually the sea and within the 50 metres ate grotty old tennis courts and a walkway that stinks of urine...... really. In the room the bathroom and bedding were clean but the carpets were grubby and a large suspicious looking stain sat upon one of the chairs......yuk. The worst thing was the aircondtioning , despite being on for hours it didnt make an ounce of difference, it was soooooooooo HOT , Ihad to keep having cold showers just to stay alive . The carpark is not secure it is just a dust bowl out front. The service at reception was non existent . Dont waste your money staying here , you would be better off sleeping in your car. Oh the only luxury item in the hotel is a shoe shine machine next to the lift on every floor , I dont think they work as the carpet is filthy.

This hotel gets one star because the room was clean. But it is not as advertised. It advertises a swimming pool, which it does not have. It advertises seafront views, which I requested but got instead a small room at the back without a balcony overlooking a hole in the ground. It advertises free taxi service from the city, but that is not until you get to the hotel. It advertises that it is perched on a cliff, overlooking the sea, but it is not. I was charged over $100 night for this.

My husband and I visited this hotel in March 2006, it's a very basic, but clean and friendly hotel , there is no entertainment, just a small no smoking bar, this closes at midnight. The food is not up to much and if you have children i wouldn't recommend it, the hotel is at the bottom of a very steep hill and is the bottom 3 floors of a block of flats, the rooms are either cliff facing or ocean facing, the ocean side is also the garage parking side for the flats and so there can be a little noise from people coming and going, the rooms are very small and if you are thinking of 3 sharing, i would suggest you have 2 rooms. There is a tram which is only a few minutes walk away and a bus stop at the top of the hill. Alicante is a nice town, but there really isn't much to do unless you just want to sit on the beach. We hired a car and found some amazing places inland. There is a tiny bit of beach to the left of the front entrance at the hotel, the rest is just rocks, there is also a very strong smell of cats wee, there are cats everywhere, there were some lovely beaches away from alicante in the opposite direction but I would recommend that you hire a car. All in all it was only a 6 day short stay for my husband and I, a rare few days without the kids, so it was fine for us, although I wouldn't go back. If you like a little luxury and relaxation this is not the place to go because you have to plan everyday where to find the best beach or somewhere to eat etc. excellent for the budget travellers without kids

We stayed at the Albahia between Xmas & New Yearand enjoyed a relaxing break. The Albahia is part of an apartment block by the sea but backing onto a cliff-face (tip:ask for sea-view)both inside & out looking somewhat dated but certainly well cared for. The hotel is clean & well serviced & the staff are freindly & helpful though it does help if you have a little knowledge of the language. We did eat in the restaurant one evening but found it lacking in atmosphere & the food was only O.K. though at breakfast it was livelier and the selection was good, with good quality food and frequently replenished. A short walk uphill from the reception area is a tram stop which takes you down to the Port of Alicante or you can tram/train right up to Valencia, prices being very reasonable. Taxis into Alicante were also inexpensive so we weren't stuck for getting around. A taxi from the Port at 2am on New Year Eve was 6e We would definitely recommend this for a budget stay

My sister and I recently stayed at this Hotel I can't praise it enough. The staff were extremely helpful, the atmosphere wonderfull, rooms spotlessly clean bed linen and towels, changed every 2 days. the views from our rooms fantastic, I have stayed in many hotels but this one was special, and prices very competitive. The breakfast which was included, unless you want a full english (which we didn't) was excellent and not just your roll and jam. I think the person at the top of the page was just unlucky or went with a view to moan at everything (which some of the english or famous for) We had a wonderful holiday and was very sad to leave, but the Hotel was the main source of our enjoyment, we will certainly return but not ideal for anyone with small children. Thank you to Hotel Albahia staff for a wonderfl holiday.

Stayed at the Hotel for a week with my husband and 8 month old baby. The hotel would appear to be ok for just adults if you are trying to get away for a break, but for babys its a little bit of a problem. I assumed there would be a kettle or a little fridge in the room since we were on a half board basis but there was nothing of the sort. If you need hot water for your baby's feed or a fridge to keep any food for the baby you have to trek down to the bar. To get to the main road was a task with a baby pram we were put off most of the time from going up hill. You need a car really. The hotel does say they have baby facilities but not sure to what extent. My views may be entirely different from others because of my needs but overall it was ok. The town was good but you have to walk for 10-15 min to the next tram stop to take you to town or trek up the hill to the bus stop. The hotel is in a remote part of alicante so you have to go to town. The tram stop being build by the hotel is not yet completed which would be 100% help. Restaurant facility you more or less have to go into town as there is nothing much in this part of Alicante or you will be stuck with just the hotel restaurant food. The hotel receptionist was brilliant!!. Cant say very much for the bar staff just for only two who were nice but the others were a bit snobbish. The maids were brilliant to the sort that you felt comfortable holding a conversation with them even tho they didnt speak that much english.

We have stayed in many Spanish hotels and we liked the Albahia. The staff were really friendly, nothing was too much for them. The hotel was spotlessly clean - there always seemed to be someone cleaning. The food was not brilliant,breakfasts were uninspir

Hi folks, For all of you who intend to stay at the Albahia, let me say all the good things first, ie Excellent sea view, good location and good Breakfast. On the contrary if you're over 80 kilos don't bother going! that's right! Can you belive turning up at 1 am at midnight, absolutely nakerd, and then turning up at your room to find the bed half broken. Then when the next bed turns up and you try to kip in that breaks as well. Then you think am I FAT? Then you think lets try again! And as you give it your final go, yoy say third time lucky, but guess what?.... the bed breaks again! Sounds silly? or just bad luck, or bad hotel beds? That is for you to decide, all I can say is that being 80 kilos is not FAT! So that means that the beds are c**p!

Only stayed a weekend in this hotel, but very impressed with the level of service and price. Great bargain weekend. The hotel itself is situated 20/30 mins from airport depending on traffic, but cost less than 20 euros. It's a litle far from the shops and main area but still great fun and the buses are every ten minutes. They were adding an extra station at the train line to cover the hotel probably finished very soon, which will be even easier. The hotel was a little limited on service the dining area especially, but for the price you can't complain and the food served was nice and fresh. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The area itself is very nice. The hotel is built below the road, the views from the rooms were fantastic. Very spacious rooms but a little old fashioned. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a bargain break or just a quiet romantic weekend. Alicante itself is very alive, great shops, great value, great dining facilities, all round tourist attraction, and a large shopping centre just outside the town. Just along from the main centre is the beach beautiful white sandy beach stretching for what seemed like miles and even in november was still 26/30c.

The only thing Is we would have preferred a double bed and not two singles. On line booking did not ask a preference that is assuming of course that the hotel provides rooms with double beds. Everything else we could not fault.

The Hotel Albahia is a very comfortable place set on the bottom 3 floors of a block of flats. It has an "upside down" feel when you first arrive as reception is on the top floor with the rooms on the 2 floors below.If you are visiting Alicante for a holiday, it is best to ensure that you get a room with a sea view - otherwise your window view is of a cliff!The pool and tennis courts belong to the whole block of flats, so you can't expect complete privacy. Also the pool is only open during the summer season.Swimming for the rest of the year is provided by the Mediterranean - there are a couple of small lagoons at the back of the hotel (exit on the bottom floor and cross the car park to your left), which are excellent for swimming. There are some interesting looking fish here as well.The hotel restaurant and bar menus are very good (I particularly recommend the chicken sandwich from the bar) but even better eating is close at hand. Once again at the back of the hotel, i.e. towards the sea, and to the left is a restaurant and pizzeria called Don Coletta which makes fantastic pizza and pasta dishes as well as making a great steak.The city is just 5 minutes bus journey from the top of the hill (quite steep so it will keep you fit) costing 80 Euro Cents (May 2003). A free taxi is also available from the hotel into town and back again weekdays from 8:00am - 10:30am and Monday - Thursday evenings 8:30pm - 1:30am.In town there is a multitude of activities available, however things not to be missed are the Castillo de Santa Barbara which overlooks the whole city, for shopping El Corte Ingles where you can buy almost anything and Panoramis a large covered centre with restaurants, an amusement arcade and other fun for all the family.Finally get to Terra Mitica, a major theme park near Benidorm with its own station on the Alicante to Denia line.Overall this place is well situated with a very friendly and efficient staff. A highly enjoyable holiday location.

The city centre of Aicante is about a 40 minute walk from the Albahia hotel, and is about a 10 minute bus journey from the city centre. Althought this is a cheap and friendly hotel, I would not recommend it for the less mobile without a car, as the steep hill to the main road would be problematic. The room was very clean, the staff were very friendly, view of the med was grand (thankfully I was not facing the mountain) and the breakfast was satisfactory and good value. I would stay in the Albahia hotel again. It was excellent value for money, and was just far enough out of the city to reduce the noise. Near to San Juan and Alicante. Bus, Tram, Trains all rear by. Note: advertised free transport to city did not exist in Dec 04. However the flat rate bus journey of .85 euros made it a very easy option. Receptionist described the bus route which was very easy to flooow ( number 21 or 22). Value for money for budget users.

The hotel is part of a block of flats facing the sea and the beach is a tennis court away. The main road is some 30m above the entrance patio so if your room is on the non sea or cliff side you have a problem. All that has been said about the rooms above is correct. Well worn but very clean and a large bathroom with plenty of hot water. An excellent shower. All rooms access off long corridors on the 1st and 2nd floors so plenty of door slamming at night. In December you need heating in the evenings and mornings and th only heating on the residential floors is in the rooms from the split unit air conditioners working on reverse cycle. This goes off whe you leave the room and take the card out so you can get back in again so the room goes cold again. Level 3 with the reception, bar and restaurant has central ducted air heating. Bus access into town is frequent and cheap but you have to scale the 30m height to get to the bus. The 40 minute walk into town referred to above is along side a dual carriageway so not pleasant. The buffett breakfast is OK but I did see English breakfasts being returned cold or with black pieces in them. Do not book half board. The food is just placed in front of you without choice, usually with no vegetables and with such prime dishes as meat balls, luncheon meat with a warm sauce, or a pork chop. Sweets could be a packet of yoghurt or yesterday's sweet warmed up. The al la carte was served up cold, with fish swimming in water and not as described on the menue. There was frequent problems in the restaurant in the evening with the management beng called in to sort it out - usually because only reception spoke English. The hotel itself is good value with a reasonable breakfast but keep out of the way of the restaurant in the evenings.
