To experience the exquisite mixture of comfortable accommodation and impeccable service in an intimate atmosphere, the Trianon Hotel is an ideal choice for an enjoyable vacation.
Location Located next to the Concert Hall, the Trianon Hotel is within walking distance to few shopping precincts, the Van Gogh and municipal museums as well as many other tourist sites of the area.

Very disappointing. Decent location but the room was stinking and hot. There are no lockers for your stuff and the staff was not helpful what so ever. Don't stay here unless you have to!
They overbooked and split up our group of 6, then charged us too much. They did reimburse me but it was still frustrating. There was construction going on outside and a gas line must have broken because it smelled awful. My friends couldn't sleep because it was so bad in their room - they asked to be moved and told there were no rooms available. They then asked for a discount and then "magically" a room became available for them.
I enjoyed where the location, staying outside Dam square meant we got to experience more of amsterdam. The main problems with the place was the smell every afternoon usually around 12pm, it was like a sewage pipe burst or something, apart from that - no complaints!
clean facilities and friendly staff, but no where to cook your food or eat it, no kitchen or common area so just have to go back to your room. really small rooms, not suitable for people looking to drink or party, but was ok for me as I wasn't looking for that.
This hostel/hotel is more like a hotel! Very clean & in a good location (metro #5 is right outside), right in the neighborhood of the major museums. I'd stay there again!
Good hotel, helpful staff, good breakfast, but bed linen should be changed more often.
Good to have a clean room and toilet, with clean sheets and towel to come back to. Seemed like anyone who knocked on the door was let upstairs, no check that they were actually staying there. Though the staff member on the desk at night was very helpful. I saw another hostel whilst there and kind of regretted not staying there as the other place had luggage lockers, a larger, modern, fresh feeling and provided food. But you get what you pay for dont you! Fun..depends who youre with doesnt it
Amazing. Had a perfect stay. Was promised a 6 bed dorm, instead got a room for two with an ensuite!! So easy to find, staff were extremely helpful. Definitely exceeded expectations.
Not too bad, the room and the bathroom were actually clean. Staff is not very helpful. It's right across Museumplain which means is near all the main museaums, but a little far from the center.
Location wasnt too hard to find. smelt funky though! Weird shower! Bed was clean...overall a good place just to doss for the night. Nowhere to lock bags....
Trianon was extremely accomodating. The staff helped us when we were missing part of our group- they let us check in without the whole group and use the desk phone to call. The room was small but tidy and it was nice having our own bathroom. The shower didnt drain very well but thats a small detail. Location was a little far from Dam square but very close to Van Gogh, the "I Amsteram" sign, and the Rijkmuseum. Would definitely recommend.
GREAT LOCATION!!!! The tram is just outside of the hostel and can take you to everywhere!!!! The place is cleaned daily and the staff is so nice! If you're in Amsterdam you should be staying here!
If you are looking for a place to stay, that is in a nice area, then this is your place! I found it perfect for sleeping and my private bathroom between my 3 friends and I was Key. I could not ask for more. Great staff as well!
room was badly stained. bathroom was clean. towels and linens should be more promptly advertised. front desk was less than helpful/seemed annoyed when asked directional questions.
This hostel is ideal if you are looking for somewhere quiet and clean to stay. it's 2 mins from the number 5 tram stop and about 5 mins from the van gogh musuem. It was really nice and not at all noisy at night.
I couln't believe in the beggining that it was a hostel. Everything was perfect and the staff very helpfull. The only problem is that we couldn't open any window to recycle the air(imaging 6-8 persons in the same room).
Friendly/helpful staff, great location. Definitely recommended.
Average hotel. Was a little annoyed when I showed up and their computer wouldn't take my master card. They tried to tell me it was somehow my fault, which it wasn't. After some fiddling with their computer the owner manager finally managed to get it to work. But if he hadn't been on hand I would have had to pay with my precious cash. Also the room was very small, a twin made up of two bunks, without enough room to throw the mattresses on the floor and make a double.
Thanks so much for having us and for waiting up for us! We had a wonderful time and will recommend you to our friends! :)
Safe location, but lacks personality. Nice staff.
it was very nice, but the cleaning staff was disturbing, very loud and came in our room while we were sleeping without knocking at the door. but all in all it was okay.
while this hostel isn't right down the street from red light district, it gave us an opportunity to see more of the town! we had a great location near the iamsterdam sign, van gogh museum, leidsplein square and vondel park....easy tram ride to anywhere else. DO A BIKE TOUR....this is all coming from a 21 year old abroad student :)
Very friendly staff. There were no lockers, just a safe. breakfast was ok. Not very thick walls...
+ good location - Rooms were nothing like picture, we complained, were told rooms had changed, the private bathroom advertised was across the hall.
+ Kind staff and fair breakfast - The singleroom was very small
+ Great location. this place was a hotel that had a dorm room therefore it was a little expensive. but lovely bed and sheets and breakfast.
+ As a budget hotel this is one of the best. it has character it is an ideal location by the concertgebouw and across from the van gogh gallery and rjiksmuseum. rooms are utilitarian, clean, comfortable and the all the facilities work. great shower. staff are helpful and efficient. - Stairs are steep but there is a lift.
+ Hotel double booked one of our rooms, so moved us to their sister hotel the inner hotel - Downgraded to a hostel, room clean but nowhere to put clothes other than on floor, no refund paid 800euros for a hostel
+ Excellent location, good breakfast - It's a classic 2 star hotel that takes getting used to for americans. next time, i'd recommend a 3 star hotel min. i would not go back there.
+ The location is good. the hotel is near supermarket and tram. the chinese staff is very freindly and helpful. - I booked 4 bed room, but the hotel gave me bunk bed. it's not what i expected.
The room was a little smaller than we had expected, but we got what we paid for. We had a room for two, with bunk beds. The staff is friendly and helpful. The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum are a block away and the very useful tram stops less than a block away. The bathroom was clean and new, but exceptionally small. We paid a total of ~170 Euros for a two night stay. I would stay there again but would pay for a bigger room. We booked through http://hotels.hollandbookings.com
+ The only positive things about this hotel was its location in the museum district and the relative helpfulness of some of the staff. - It was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. it was run down, dark and dingey. a smell of sewage in the halls. no ventilation in the very old bathroom. room very hot day and night. does not rate 3*!! does not even rate as a hostel. the breakfast was terrible and in a very dark room at the back of the chinese restaurant.
+ Great location. room clean but could do with serious updating of decor as quite depressing if you stayed a long time in the rooms. - Just the decor of the hotel and that people still smoke in rooms - you could smell smoke in the corridors which was a bit unpleasant. also, rooms are tiny.
+ The trianon hotel was just what we looking for while we were in amsterdam. the hotel staff were great and we will stay at the trianon hotel when visit amsterdam again.
I 'm usually very accomodating and will put up with most things. But this is the pits. My collegue had a bunk bed to sleep on! The rooms are so small its unreal. The only saving grace is that it is relatively clean
We have just returned from Amsterdam after having a lovely short break in this fantastic city. We spent 3 nights at the Trianon hotel, we was unsure what to expect from this hotel after reading some of the previous reviews/ lack of them. However we were pleasantly suprised, five star it certainly isn't, but it is clean with an adequate bathroom. We had a double troom, it wasn't massive but we didn't spend much time in it , the bed was comfy. Breakfast was being served next door in the restraunt of the concertgebouw (concert hall) while they renovate he hotel's kitchen, but that wasn't a problem there was a good selection of food (continental breakfast) and you could eat as much as like. We found the hotel to be in a nice quiet location a stones throw away from the Van Gough museum and within easy reach of all the other major attractions. The no. 5 tram goes from just up the street right into the centre of Amsterdam however we walked, nowhere is really that far away and we didn't want to miss the beauty of the buildings and canals.
+ The hotel was great for the price and had everything we needed for a short stay. some of furnishings were a bit tired, but the rooms were clean, the water was hot and the breakfast was above average. i was pleasantly suprised with the trianon given its two star rating.
+ Good breakfast !!!! and good atmosphere in dining room, nice personel, location good, rooms were clean - Quality rooms surely not up to standard, very small, shower/toilet etc very old. smelly/humidity?. will not return if this is not improved.
+ It suited us perfectly. the quadruple room was big enough. the bedlinen very clean. lovely hot water. quiet and peaceful. the breakfast was excellent. - Would have loved tea making facilities in room but not essential as there are facilities down at desk.
+ Hotel staff very friendly and helpful - If i could have i'd have liked to be able to specify a non-smoking room
+ Wonderful hotel and super price for the money!
+ Good location, no noice from the street - Very small room, bad smell outside the room - smell of basement? very clammy inside the room
+ The hotel had no record of the booking i made with you . ! they found me another hotel and helped me out . great staff . - I idn't get a room there . because the hotel did not get a confimation from you .
+ Hotel staff was very friendly and helpfully. - Narrow rooms with very small bathroom. carpet was not clean and the floor was very smelly.
+ Staff - Not 3stars, i would give 2
+ The location of the hotel is good. nearby there are a lot of museums and is also easy to rich the central station. the breakfast is very good. - Our room was very narrow. hovewer the room is destined for two persons, even for one person there was not enough space. the hairdryer in our room was broken. the light switches are placed completely inconveniently. you cannot switch off the light without getting up from the bed.
+ Clean and comfy. good breakfast. - Tea/coffee facilities in the room would be an improvement
- No, nothing was negative.
The rooms are comparable to a hostel - they're tiny, old uncomfortable matress and could smell smoke from the kitchen staff all the up the flights of stairs - even though I was in a non-smoking room. Location is just fine as Amsterdam is so small and easy to get around and the tram stop is at the top of the street. The pictures of the hotel provides are definately making it look better than it is.
+ My room was very nice and clean and the hotel staff was very good. i am very happy and returning in february!
+ The staff were all freindly and helpfully, rooms were clean. - The toilet/shower had no fixed lockable door, only a draw curtain. there were no drinks making facilities our classes in the room. a kettle and some cups would have been good.
+ Staff helpful and courtious. everything was clean and well maintained. room was much bigger than expected with 1 double and 1 single bed (single room booked). - Bit noisy around hotel, although quietened after midnight.
Fantastic value for the price, great location for van gogh museum etc. Our room had view of the concertfebouw (gorgeous building). All the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms aren't huge but are clean and for the price and 2* what more do you want.
If you are looking for pure luxury or you are one of those people who expect 4 star and above standards from a 2 star hotel, but with 2 star standards, then dont bother with this hotel. HOWEVER If your looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a nice quiet area of amsterdam then this may well be for you. Yes the rooms are small, yes the bathrooms are also small, but if someone can show me a 2 star hotel in amsterdam in a nice area like this which is only a short tram ride to all the major attractions, and has bigger rooms, and is cheaper than this hotel then I would like to see it. The staff were spot on, they were extremely helpful and friendly, they spoke perfect english, they bent over backwards to help us, they told us what to avoid so as not to get ripped off etc. Why people go to these 2 star hotels around the world and expect 4 star quality but with 2 star prices is beyond me. I had a 2 bed room which was bunkbeds and it was small, however the photographs clearly show this, so why complain afterwards when all you need to do is look at the photos before booking, some of our party had a room for 3 and this was a lot lot bigger so if your after size pay the extra and book a room for 3, or simply stay at a 4 star hotel. Simply ask before hand for a larger room or a double THEY SPEAK PERFECT ENGLISH on the desk.
You don't pay much you don't get much. It is fair. The location is excellent.
My husband and I stayed here in Feb 07 for 3 nights. It is very easy to find as the tram stops just outside. It took about 20 minutes by tram to get to the centre. Situated in the museum quarter and, unless you like museums!, not much to do in the immediate area but Leidseplein is about a 3 minute tram ride and we absolutely loved it there! Now, on to the hotel itself. The rooms are absolutely TINY! And with the bare painted walls, it is just like a prison cell. The bathroom is even funnier - just enough room for a toilet and a half size bath, with the sink squashed in at the end of your bed. Also, we experienced a lot of noise from the people in the room above so not much sleep. The breakfast room, on the other hand is very nice as it also serves as a restaurant in the evenings. Traditional European continental breakfast is served. Quite a lot of choice. I would say - if you are looking for a room on a budget and don't intend to spend much time at the hotel (like us!) then this place is fine. Don't expect any luxury - just a place to rest your head after a long day.
Uno de los mejores hoteles que tuve el placer de hospedarme
The rooms are terribly small, there is absolutely no silencing between the rooms, i found trash under my bed, there is mould in the bathroom, you won't find any hospitality in the reception. Didn't see a smile on their faces at all. Choose another hotel!
I will start with the positives. In a good location , near Van Gogh gallery, walking distance to the centre and on tram route 5 direct to the railway station. Staff were friendly. But.....on the downside, it was a very poor hotel. When shown to my room, I opened the door, my immediate thought was "Why has someone left that tatty little bed in this small corridor", then I realised it was my room! Rooms were small smelly and had damp patches, they were furnished with very old carpets, curtains and furniture. The walls had not seen paint in many years and were very "yellow". I had requested a non smoking room, my room stunk of smoke. The bathroom was basically ok with plenty of hot water, but had a permanent stale urine smell. Also greeting me in my room was a dirty glass starting to go mouldy. The plumbing was very noisy , keeping me awake till 2/3a.m. , then I was woken up again around 5a.m. by roudy revellers returning from a night out. Breakfast was ok if you were there early, but if you went down after 8.30, all the good stuff (eggs, ham, cheese) was gone, and was not replenished by the staff. So twice I had to settle for bread and jam. Also some free services promised such as satellite tv and use of a safe were either pay extra or non existant. Overall shockingly poor. Only go to this hotel if there is absolutely no other option.
Very nice hotel, comfortable rooms with table and nightstands, clean and new bathroom. The position is good, very close to tram stops. Breakfast was included in the price. You can have double bed. Friendly staff and very quite district.
We booked this hotel, then I read the reviews and would have cancelled except it was too short notice, however we were pleasantly surprised when we stayed there. Quiet location but tram stop to Central station at end of road. Not many restaurants etc very near but Leidseplein only two tram stops away with plenty of choice. Staff friendly and helpful but it was November so out of season and they may be less helpful when busy Rooms are small and carpets shabby but bathrooms are good. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and warm with plenty of hot water, linens and towels are spotless Breakfast was very good for continent There is a lift, not always the case in Amsterdam Altogether our stay was better than expected, however do take a universal sink plug and watch out for mosquitoes, even in November Guide books do say generally hotel rooms in Amsterdam are small and smelling of damp and mildew is a problem there
This hotel was booked for me through a Bristol, UK travel agent which they booked through Amsterdam Hotels Co. My room was on the second floor. The room was approx. 9ft. long by 6ft. wide. The only window to let air in or out comprised a single glass door which opened out onto a balcony shared with two other rooms. A 6-pack was in a corner of the balcony. Along one side of the "cell" was a metal bunk bed. In order to have any air in the room, the balcony door would have to remain open. This room was booked for me under my name with "Mrs." as my title. I immediately left the room and after great difficulty found another hotel. I then returned to the Trianon and told the clerk I would not be staying the four nights booked, but that I was willing to pay for the first night even though I wouldn't be staying there. He was quite annoyed and told me I should have told him I was not satisfied and he would have found me another room. I told him that if he didn't question the room I was given (a woman travelling alone) how could I rely on him to give me a safe, decent room? This hotel may be okay for backpackers and one-night stands, but it definitely is not a place for anyone who is looking to feel safe and comfortable. Obviously, the booking agents either do not consider the safety factor for women travellers or just don't care as long as they get their commission.
Our stay in Amsterdam was the last week in June, upon arrival at the hotel we were dealt with a chap who was dressed in combat gear, he was rude and I nearly gave him a mouthful back. The room was the smallest Ive ever stayed in, but apart from that the room was clean and as the weather was boiling i was hardly there only to sleep and have breakfast (which was ok),. I had no real problems with this place, however, I will not stay there again
My husband and I booked Hotel Trianon through an online service and were looking forward to it's great location as we only had one full day to enjoy Amsterdam. It was the worst hotel I've ever been to, starting with the desk clerk who was rude and barely spoke English and the elevator which couldn't hold both of us and our small suitcases, to the urine stenched hallways and black mold on the window frames. It was so bad in fact that after checking in we braved the torrential rains outside to go find a new hotel so that we could move. I literally don't think we'd have been able to spend a night there, just upon entering the room both my husband and I became so congested from the mold and mildew we coudl hardly breathe. It was well worth the extra few dollars to get a good nights sleep somewhere/anywhere else.
We went to Amsterdam this June and were unfortunate enough to stay at the Trianon Hotel. We came as a business management group of 8 for a Teambuilding weekend. The hotel was listed as having a safe in every room but not one of us had one, as a result we all had to carry our passports and euro's around with us all the time as the room was not very secure. (Another member of our party was even given the key to another guests room). The rooms had no Air Conditioning, no Tea and Coffee making facilities, and were so small you had to put your case infront of the bed and wardrobe so couldn't use the wardrobe easily, it was more like a corridor than a room. The bathroom was so minute that we had the sink in the bedroom with us which had the tap dripping constantly. Carpets were old, smelly and had remnants of the previous occupants hair in amongst other things. There was no bar open as advertised, the only bar was a mini fridge in the reception full of tinned Lager. Breakfast was just okay, but the reception staff during the day weren't very helpful and seemed irritated if asked for assistance with Airport transport. We ended up dragging our cases around the block to another hotel and asked them to arrange our transport back to the airport which was done in minutes, free of charge. We couldn't wait to get home to our much cleaner environment, clean streets, clean people and clean beds. It's Great to be back in the UK.
Eight of us stayed here and all of us are of the same opinion. This should be classed as a hostel, not a hotel. The room was minute to say the least, the bathroom was so small that the sink had to go in the bedroom, (which by the way was more like a corridor), next to the bed. No tea and coffee making facilities, no air con & no safe in the room, the tap water was drinkable but warm, the room smelt of urine and you most likely won't be able to open your window, infact once out of reception, the whole hotel had a strange odour. The website also says there is a bar, this consists of a mini fridge in reception selling only Heineken in tins. Breakfast was just okay, stick to toast and rolls with jam. The staff were curt, unwelcoming and bad mannered, only the cleaners said hello each day. Infact we got this reaction wherever we went in Amsterdam, only a minority of Dutch people were friendly towards us. The town (red light district Central) was miles away on a tram, ensure you have a ticket or you will be publically humiliated by the inspectors. You buy them off the driver, oh and make sure you always look both ways when crossing the road. Don't leave valuables in your room either, they will give your room key to anybody. We were a mature party of eight adults, this hotel would be more suited as a HOSTEL for the Amsterdam under privilaged. Whatever you do, don't waste your money here, the Dutch hotel ratings are not to the quality of the UK. We all hope that once you change your booking to an alternative, more suitable hotel, that you will have a better experience than we all did.
The Trianon is a great place to stay if you're going to a performance at the Concertgebouw, since it's right next door. You would expect to find a nicer hotel right next to one of the world's finest concert halls, though. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet. The rooms, on the other hand ae another thing. The bathrooms look like they came out of WWII Europe, and the carleting is beyond disgusting. Still, the beds were clean, the hallways were very well lit, and they have an elevator. The Trianon is fine for a night or two, but I wouldn't pick this hotel for an extended stay.
We spent 3 nights at the Trianon Hotel over Queen's Day 2006 weekend and this hotel was one of very few that had availability and didn't cost the earth. But after reading the reviews on this site, I was tempted to cancel the whole trip as I was expecting a rotten dirty hell-hole. However, we decided to go anyway and I'm so glad as we had a fantastic time and the hotel is nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews that I read. We booked a twin and a triple room and although the twin room was really small, it was clean and had everything we needed. We didn't spend that much time at the hotel as we were out and about all day so the lack of space really was not an issue. The triple room was a lot more roomy so would definitely recommend the triple if you are staying for more than a week or if you like to spend a lot of time in your hotel room. The Trianon offers cheap accomodation in a clean basic hotel within walking distance of all the attractions that Amsterdam has to offer. We didn't use the trams but there is a tram stop literally a few minutes away if you don't fancy walking everywhere. It is in the quieter area of Amsterdam near to Vondelpark and all the museums but there are plenty of shops and restaurants close by. If you are looking to go to Amsterdam and want to stay somewhere in a central location, is clean and on a budget, then I would definitely recommend the Trianon.
Just stayed at the Trianon Hotel in Amsterdam. This was a basic hotel but clean. It was cleaned every day we stayed and beds remade. Breakfast was of a good standard for a continental breakfast and plenty there to choose from. I personally found that it was in a good location for getting around amsterdam - close to canal bus, tram and in walking distance of some museums. I enjoyed my stay here and enjoyed wandering to the leidersplein area as I much preferred this square to the Dam square itself as it wasn't as busy but had lots of street entertainers on and fab cafes.
We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights last September. The room was the smallest we have ever seen. It was almost impossible to fit our 2 small luggages inside the room. The bathroom was very small and disgusting. The TV was very old and with no remote control. Moreover, the hotel room and the corridors were very hot. There was almost no ventilation. It was the most expensive hotel per square meter we have ever stayed, since we payed a rate compatible to a good hotel chain anywhere in the world. Please do not go to this hotel. The price is not fair to what it is offered. We accept to stay in any clean and simple hotel but the Trianon is not enough considering the minimum necessary for a hotel room. Since Amsterdam is a great city, the great time we had there compensated this terrible hotel.
My friend and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and 5 days. When we finally arrived at midnight we were unhappy to discover that the hotel was over booked. Thankfully they had a triple room left eventhought we had only paied for a double. It was almost impossible to sleep because it was so incredibly hot in the room and due to the lack of a/c nothing could be done. The breakfast is not worth it. You're better off eating at on of the many restaurants located close by. The good things about this hotel were that it is located very close to the Vondelpark and the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh. Some of the front desk people (with exceptions) are very friendly and helpful. One of them arranged for a cab to be waiting for us on the day of our departure. Upon arrival at the hotel I encountered the front desk person who was less than friendly. I was forced to fill out and "identity card" as he call it and would not explain why. Lets just say that all the info given to him was not entirely correct...
Good stay at TRIANON I stayed there from 03rd to 05th AUGUST 2005. The room i had bookd was a single one (it means a single bed) with bathroom ensuite. I found the bathroom quite big but the room was like a corridor (it was what i expected so i was not disappointed). The room was clean and the staff friendly.T The only thing i regretted was that there was no remote control for tv so once you are in bed you have to get out off your bed every time you want to chage the channel. The breakfast which was included as i had booked through expedia was typical dutch one (gouda, smoked meat, yoghourt, juices, hot bevergae, bread, jams, honey and butter). The location was just 2 minures walk from the tram station museuplein (line 5 and 2) on the corner. It is also 5 minutes walk to the VAn Gogh museum and the RIjksmuseum. All in all a good choices for people who intend to be not far from the museums and with good access to the public transports. I will definitely return . Emilie VIDAL :)
While I wasn't expecting the lap of luxury, this hotel was very poor. I was in a single room barely 5 ft wide. At one point, because of the location of a table, there was only 12 inches of space available to squeeze by. (I had to put the chair on the bed to get past) Surprisingly, the bed was actually a bunk bed. The top part was folded up against the wall. I could not imagine 2 people sharing this room. Other gripes: I had to leave a deposit of €15.00 to get a remote control for the TV. The shower had to be hand-held as the bracket on the wall was so loose the water simply dribbled down the wall. The shower was fitted over a half-bath. I didn't have a problem with that. However, the sides of the bath were extremely high and it was quite difficult to step out and in with doing oneself a mischief. Having paid a significant single room supplement, I would have expected something a little better for my money. I concur with the other reviewers regarding creaking floorboards, musty smell etc. Having said that, bedding was clean, water was very hot and an adaquate number of clean towels were provided. I would have like Tea/coffee making facilities.
Carpet was filthy. Beds were uncomfortable. No heating in the room. What else can I say but avoid this hotel ! Staff were friendly though as with a smile we were told their hotel was booked out and couldn't change our rooms. Oh, good location.
The Trianon hotel was fairly easy to find ( best if you go by taxi-worth the €35 to prevent getting lost) the hotel has a nice reception, small and cosy. Most of the staff are friendly though they didn't say much and didn't offer much advice on where to go or how to get there when asked. The hotel doesn't have the bar it claims to have, it has a small desktop fridge that sell coca-cola sized tins of Heinekin beer for €2 each and it has a vending machine that is also quite sparse yet expensive. In the lounge there is a tea/coffee machine and a cup of soup machine that you pay for using although we found these by chance they were not pointed out to us at any time during our stay. The rooms were plain and small especially for a double room, it had single beds though it was ensuite. The important thing was that the rooms were very clean! The ensuite was supposed to have a hairdryer but it didn't work. The bath/shower was a bit odd shaped but it worked and the water was warm, the toilet was strange but if you go you'll see what i mean for yourself. The breakfast consisited of bread, cheese, ham, cornflakes, tea, coffee and juice-not great but it did the job. The reception also contains some cards that offer discounts on attractions and restaurants, bars etc and were worth looking through. The Trianon was close to all the major museams etc. So enjoy your trip!!!!! The hotel overall was reasonable it was clean and tidy didn't offer anything special but since it was only to sleep in it was fine.
Q & L from London (stayed from the 11th Feb 2005 - 14th Feb 2005) We read the reviews on this hotel and was put off from the start. But.. when we arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly suprised! The rooms are very basic, but the friendly staff, the quality of the cleaning and the quiteness of the hotel, were all things that added to a most enjoyable stay. I would certainly stay at this hotel again, and wonder what hotel the other people were staying in? This is a good 2 star hotel and certainly value for money!
this hotel is very poor value for money the breakfast consisted of bread only with beverage. the decor is poor the service of the staff unhelpful . the carpet in my room i could only describe as filthy .iwrote a letter of complaint but did not receive a reply AVOID !
Hotel is in a great location for many attractions either on foot or by bus or tram. Nearest bus and stram stop a minutes walk away. Hotel is in a nice area with a park accross the road. Rooms are ridiculous though. Very small, and very grubby looking. Was terrified to let anything drop on the floor!! Door is very thin which means you can hear everyone outside your room, and as the floor boards creak so loudly you might be woken up by people walking rather than talking! Breakfast was ok but would have expected a much greater choice.
I stayed there in April 2003, but never again. I agree with the previous reviewer - nice exterior, excellent location, BUT... inside it's still scruffy and drab, carpet is still stained, floors creak loudly. My double room was barely 5 ft wide with bunk beds. Bathroom had one towel. Climbing 2-3 ft into the half-sized bath/shower was dangerous, with only the (loose!) sink to hold onto.Buffet breakfast OK, but coffee was weak (rare in Amsterdam), and running out of popular items well before breakfast time was over. Only the weak coffee was replenished.
The title of my piece says it all!! Quite simply the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. The bathroom was absolutely decrepid. The shower curtain was torn, full of mildew and smelt! My wife refused to use it for the whole of our stay.(2 nights) I agree regarding the temperature as although it was the coldest weekend of the year to date the hotel resembled a sauna!!
Hotel Trianon is in a very good location, behind the Concertgebouw in the centre of Amsterdam. Most of the city's attractions are within walking distance. Staff are very helpful and breakfast is perfectly adequate. Rooms in the hotel, however, are in dire need of a facelift. Carpets are badly stained, icy-cold bathrooms with no heating, rooms are generally not so clean. No major complaints otherwise, but Trianon is certainly not the lap of luxury! Then again, you get what you pay for.
