good,near shops and cafes,but no common room to socialise,no placeto make tea.rooms with a wardrobe and comfy beds and great central heating.

Best hostel we stayed in while in paris. The free internet was good when it worked.

The coffee for breakfast was awfull!! At the end,we obtained our breakfast in the supermarket across the street. Rooms were OK.

Rooms were pretty small and could have had lockers. But bathroom was cleaned daily and fresh towels provided. Staff were not as helpful as i'd hoped but the breakfast was brilliant as far as free hostel breakfasts go.

Terrible room cleaning, dirt all around, hanging on the ceiling... In the good side, towels are changed every day.

Rooms could be better isolated as there is too much noise coming from the traffic outside. The shower curtain was mouldy

Good hostel in excellent location in Paris. Staff was friendly, breakfast good and room snug. We enjoyed stay there. Maybe common room, where we could meet other people would be good idea to improve hostel..

Staff is very helpful and they speak english. One choice of cereal for breakfast. Wifi only in the lobby but it's free + 3 terminals. Towels and bed sheets are clean but don't expect to get the bathroom cleaned each day. No TV in some rooms. good cheap place to sleep.

Location is ok, 5 mins walk from metro. Breakfast was not worth getting out of bed for but it was free !!! Staff nothing special and when we went t ocollect luggage stored at the side of reception no one even asked whowe were as the staff where different from the morning!!!

The bed was very good, good internet wifi for free, god bed and god shower, from Republiqué station its possible to go to any place easily, there is a supermarket in front of the hostel.

Stayed in the hostel part of Absolute Paris. Wasn't expecting much as i've become accustomed to do and it was fine. Pretty easy to find, just around the corner from Republique metro station. Don't remember having anyissues with staff from front desk. AS for location, if your planning on using public transport its in a really good spot, if your planning on walking everywhere, you'll have sore feet, Paris is huge and this hostel is in the opposite corner to Eiffel tower. But it's a nice walk none the less. I'd be more than happy to stay there again.

THE GOOD: Initially hesitant to book here, I was elated with the choice of accomodation. Immediately upon arrival, the receptionist was sympathetic to our delayed arrival fiasco and compassionately upgraded our reservation to the best hotel room in the hotel & hostel accomodation, free of charge, room 15. The room was tastefully decorated, and cleaned everyday. It also featured two balconies which was convenient. The water pressure in the bathroom was excellent, though, as is the case with most European bathrooms, the shower stall was small. Members of the staff, both cleaning and reception, were extremely kind and curteous, and did not hesitate to accomodate our propensity to sleep through breakfast by giving us some croissants to go, or the many requests for free wifi passcodes. I've stayed in six 2 and 3 star hotels in Paris, all in the Opera district, and can confidently say Absolute Paris offers excellent value for money. THE BAD: A flat sheet was not provided, so the coarse blanket, which was not very warm, and I'm assuming not cleaned regularly, had to go against your flesh directly. IN SUM: In Paris, you never run out of things to do, so having a well placed HQ (like Absolute) is convenient. I highly recommend this hostel.

i heard hostel in paris are really dirty and bad but it turned out pretty surprising when i stayed at the Absolute Hostel. The location was pretty good. I went with my boyfriend, sister and a male friend and we had the 2 bunk beds room with bathroom. It was really small but I dun think it matters a lot because it was expected. Service was nice too especially the lady who served breakfast! I really like they had hot chocolate for breakfast too!

The room was tiny and cramped, with a small tv and desk, and hardly any space to move around. We had a room on the corner, so had a balcony that opened from the bathroom which was great to sit at and watch the traffic go by. The decor was fairly new, and unlike many reviews, we found the receptionists quite helpful. We stayed at Absolute in summer, and there was no air conditioning or fan in the room, so it was ridiculously hot, especially when trying to get to sleep at night. There is a laundromat right next door, and a convenience store, a pub and a McDonalds (the most important thing!!) right near the hostel. They had reasonably priced internet access, and breakfast wasn't great, but is what you would expect from a hostel and for the price. The location is a bit out of the way (we walked to Notre Dame in around 40 minutes), but close to public transport.

We had planned carefully to stay in a Hotel in Montmarte, but when we got there they had not noted a change in dates and they were expecting us the next day. As they were full they phoned around to find us another hotel and then sent us there by taxi. This is how we ended up at this dump of a hotel. We had a triple room on the 3rd floor and I could tell as we went up the very shabby stairs that the place wasn't nice. The lift was only big enough for one and the noises it made convinced us not to use it. Our room contained 3 camp beds which had no top sheets or pillow slips and only a grubby bedspread. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls and there was mould in the corners. Some lights did not work and the curtains were half falling off their rail. The bathroom was okay but not clean. Our daughter slept in her clothes the first night due to the decrepit state of the place. Worse was to come when we went to breakfast the next morning. We were each given 1 small orange drink in a disposeable plastic cup and a cup of coffee. One cup had several large grubby looking cracks in it and looked most unhygenic. You also got one small bread roll and a jam. The staff were all quite surly. If it had not been for the fact that we only had one whole day in Paris we would have moved back to our original Hotel after the first night. This place was horrible and definitely the worst hotel we stayed in during 6 weeks in europe.

The hotel and location was fine for a backpacker like me but the receptionist was the rudest individual i've encountered on my trips through Europe. Because of that i'd never stay here again.

There was 4 of us and we booked an ensuite. The room was sooo tiny. There were 4 bunk beds and one tiny aisle and a bathroom and that was it. There was no space to even walk around once you put down your luggage. They had a desk but you couldn't sit in the chair bc the bed was right behind it. there is a tv on the desk but you can't see it because the bed is blocking the view. One of the beds had a urine smell on it and the housekeepers never changed the sheets so my friend had to go get one herself. The only good thing was that there was a shower with hot water. But the towels and blankets did not look clean. The blanket is also really thin and did not smell good but we used it anyway bc it was really cold. The area is also really bad. There are always drunk ppl outside the hostel and they just go up to you and scream at you. It was a bit scary.

I have just returned from a week (or thereabouts) stay at the absolute paris hostel/hotel. i was there with my family..my 3 siblings stayed in the hostel part of it in a 4 bunk room, and me and my boyfriend stayed in a double room, as did my mum and dad. my family arrived earlier in the day before us, and they looked at the room that we were supposed to stay in, which was a twin room (we specifically asked for a double) and we ended up both getting double rooms across the hall from each other, numbers 48 and 49. the room was ok i spose, the decor didnt leave much to the imagination but the bed was pretty good.my parents had a nice enough view out onto the street random pillows though, more like rolls of pillow than actual pillows. the ensuite was actually really nice, these have just been done up as part of the hotel was undergoing renovations. on my 21st birthday they let us use the breakfast room to have cake etc which was good of them. also they booked a specific restaurant for us on the night of my birthday. the heating and water was always good. there is a supermarket across the road, and a good few other convenience shops around when that was closed. loads of food places too for quick cheap dinners. the area was nothing special and nothing bad either. we never really felt unsafe. a few bad points; the cleaning ladies came before 9 most mornings (we were hardly ever out of the room that early) so the room was not cleaned on 2 occasions, you have to leave your room key at the reception when you leave which was annoying for my 3 siblings as there was always 1 other person in the 4 bed room and there was only one key. i and my parents always took them with us and nothing was ever said! although we had an ok experience, i wouldnt stay there again (we stayed there because there were 7 of us and they had varied rooms) because we found other places that were closer to town and a wee bit nicer.

I had the same experience as the previous review in relation to the rude staff when I stayed at Absolute six weeks ago. During my three month sojourn in France I have found that people are generally friendly and very helpful. However the staff at this hostel are appallingly rude. I am travelling again to Paris in two weeks' time and will NOT be staying at this hostel owing to the attitude of the staff and manager.

I was lured to Absolute Paris hostel in the 10th arrondissement, near St Martin's Canal by their website. I had spent my first week in beautiful Montmartre in a great hostel and was heartily disapointed upon my arrival at Absolute. Firstly, the area is very seedy. Very, very working class- not a lot to do but look at the canal which is nice if its sunny, but it's not an area I felt particularly safe in, as I went out a lot at night, most areas of Paris I felt fine but..I don't know, it's just a seedy area. The receptionists here, aside from a young guy who does the night shift, are utterly awful. Downright mean, rude and unhelpful. They aren't French, I believe they are Portuguese or something like that. They have strict policies on payment, no refunds or transfers are available, so if you don't like it, tough ----. And thus I am sticking it out here still, foolishly having booked for two weeks. I am writing this having just witnessed an argument between the main concierage, who is the worst, and a family. They wanted to leave early I believe and they were told by another staff member that they could. He called them liars and said that the staff member would not have said that. After much arguing he told them to go to another hotel and said he would not charge them "You are lucky this time!" and said he would be taking the two days difference out of the staff member's salary who told them they could change their plans. What a jerk. He is rude ALL of the time and so are most of the other stuff. Don't bother asking them for directions or help or tourist information. The hostel is also under renovations so it's a bit of a mess. Coming from Hostel Caulaincourt this place is a dump. There is internet at 2 euros for half an hour, which is a rip off, but there are no internet places nearby. I spent my first two weeks at Hostel Caulaincourt in Montmartre and it was great- great area, great staff, free internet, clean, nice rooms. I am going back there as soon as my time runs out here. I just wish I could get my money back and leave early. Certainly there are bad hostels and this isn't the worst, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either.

To cut a long story short, the hotel is value for money (about 60 Euros).As seems to be the norm with most hotels in Paris, the rooms are quite small (about 10 X 12 feet). We had quite a shock when we first saw the rooms (coming from where we do, the rooms @ these rates are at least 3 times the size) and wanted to move out immediately but after looking around realized that for the money we were paying, it was a decent deal.The rooms and bathrooms are spotlessly clean. The best part about the hotel is its location. The Republique metro (which is a metro from where there are quite a few metro interchanges) is a 5 minute walk away from the hotel. There is a laundry just next door; a café next door, a Chinese takeaway opposite and 2-3 pattissieries close by. There is also a small supermarket opposite the hotel (I think it is Monoprix) from where we used to pick up all our juices and bread from).Breakfast is 1 croissant , 1 baguette ( I can't eat them, and after 3 days, the staff refused to give us anoter croissant in its place) + your choice of coffee or tea.The reception staff are quite helpful - our requests for room changes (we changed rooms 3 times), stationary etc were met promptly.The location where the hotel is, is rather crowded and not exactly upmarket (to say the least) , but then if you spend all your time sight seeing during the day (and part of the night as well) and end up sleeping for only about 5/6 hours at night who cares about the location.Tip - take a pair of ear plugs with you. The rooms which by the road can be very noisy and if you are a light sleeper, you could be in for some sleepless nights.I would certainly recommend this hotel to those who are on a budget trip - we spent 2 weeks there.
