Upon arrival the woman at reception told us four times to lock all our valuables in the safe, leaving us in an instant state of paranoia. The toilet was blocked with faecal matter from the last guest and subsequently the whole room smelt. The room was nothing like the picture displayed on the website, instead being incredibly small and in poor condition. I disagree entirely with their claim that the hotel has new decor and modern facilities. On the second day having spent the whole day walking around Paris we returned to our room to shower before going out. We were not able to shower as there were no new towels provided in the room. Asking the man on the front desk he said that the cleaning service had not come and that there would be no towels delivered at all. He told me I could go up the road to their sister hotel and collect one but he could not provide one himself. After I told him that was outrageous I insisted he find something and he gave me two floor mats which as the name suggests belong on the floor and not for drying yourself. I tried to speak to management but was told that they were on holidays and when I asked for the name of the woman at the front desk in the sister hotel she refused to give it to me and instead called the police as she felt that was the only way to deal with my problem. No one dealt with any of my problems at any point, where all they could tell me is that I should bring it up with management, but no one could tell me who he/ she was. Staff were totally apathetic and unwilling to take responsibility at all. This was the most underwhelming and disappointing stay we have ever had.
Read reviews and my expectations were pretty low. What a pleasant surprise, staff were friendly and courteous, location was fantastic - right in the heart of things and okay, room wasn't huge, but was clean, comfortable and had all the facilities we required. Admittedly, the decor was a bit 'tired', but we knew we weren't going to get the Ritz with a lastminute.com cheap deal. We had booked a triple room for a short family (10 year old came with us) sight seeing trip and I would compare the standard to that of perhaps a Travel lodge. If you're planning a romantic holiday/honeymoon then Hotel Renoir isn't going to tick the right boxes - but then lets face it , your in Paris reputedly the most romantic city in the world! In a nutshell I would definately book again and I have a reputation for being very fussy! As long as your expectations are realistic you'll have a fantastic stay.
Went for a three day break in Paris. Stayed at the Hotel Renoir in Montparnasse. The Hotel was clean, breakfasts were good, Staff friendly and very helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal for Sight Seeing on the Left Bank which you can get to either by walking or catching the Metro etc. There are plenty of Bars and Restaurants near to the Hotel so that if you don't want to go far you needn't. All in all a great Hotel and we would certainly stay there again
How this hotel is graded a 3 star I will never know. To start with the location is not good, not sure if people are expecting a nice little hotel in St Germain because if you are then you will not be happy. The hotel is located near Montparnasse which basically is the most un-pretty part of paris I think I have seen. Next was the room! Oh the room, well to be honest I have stayed at better hostels. On our arrival we were not greeted paticulary nicely, a smile would have been nice after a long trip. When I got to the room the towels were still wet and on the floor, soap was in the sink and the pillows were turned up vertically as if someone had been reading in bed only minutes before. I went to the reception and asked for some clean towels. The man at reception made me feel like I was asking to go back to his house and for his wife to cook me dinner ! He questioned me asking if I was sure? I offered for him to come to the room to see but he decided against the idea and handed over some towels. I left the pillow and soap issue as was tired and wanted to get out of the hotel and have something to eat in Paris. The room was tatty to say the least, it was dirty, the walls seemed to be like off a soap opera set and we only had one small wardrobe with 4 coat hangers in ito share. If this hotel was a 2 star then my review would obviousley take into account this but there is no way on earth this hotel is a 3 star establishment. I was really let down and the photo's online are nothing like the actual experience. Do not take chances with this hotel, it is awfull and I am not even that fussy !
Just back from three days in Paris. Happened to luck out with the hotel: as it was a 3 star and on a special offer I really didn't expect much! You get what you pay for and in this case I was pleasantly surprised. The location is superb.. easy access around the corner to Montparnasse Station for Airport buses or trains. Metro Vavin is just a few minutes the other way and well worth going to as it is a simple metro station as opposed to a multiline one like Montparnasse Bienvenue. The staff at the Hotel were all extremely friendly and helpful, especially the bloke on reception! Rooms are small but very clean, and to be honest what else matters at this price level. Breakfast was much better than several other 3 stars that I have stayed in in Paris: coffee/tea or chocolate, croissant, patisserie and brioche, fruit juice, yogurt, cheeses and bread roll each! The Hotel doesn't need a bar as there is a beer bar directly opposite it called Falstaff .. open from early morning until all hours and serving food too! The staff there are kept busy and really earn their wages ( a few Irish barmen could learn a lesson or two from seeing this operation!) however their Guinness pouring needs to be more educated. I had spent the weekend drinking pastis and on sunday morning decided to try their Framboise (raspberry) beer for a laugh! I am not a beer drinker and quite expected to have to leave it undrunk... on the contrary it was delicious, sharp, with a distinct raspberry taste. Around the corner from the hotel is a (sofa!!) bar called Charlie Birdy. Happy hour on week days for cocktails and draught beers from 16h to 20h, and Jazz brunch on sundays for 17.50 euro. Loads of small restaurants on the street or else there are more famous watering holes just around the corner on Blvd de Montparnasse: Le Select, Le Dome, La Rotonde, Closerie des Lilas.. to name but a few! At the other end of the street is Blvd Edgar Quinet which has market stalls of jewellery, clothes and allsorts until lunchtime. If you really want a treat: walk out of the hotel and turn right down onto Blvd Montparnasse. Turn right , cross the road, pass Le Select and then keep walking for about fifteen minutes (Along Blvd Port Royal). You will cross a few main roads, but keep going until you have passed Val de Grace and a few foodie stalls on the street, take the next available left ( the first two are inaccessible) and head up this street to find Rue de Mouffetard. A foodie delight of gorgeous seafood, fruits, patisserie... and other shops too! Great restaurants with great value menus: follow the street to the end and you find yourself by the Pantheon and can head down and hang left towards the Latin Quartier around Blvd St. Germain. Have a good wander around stopping for a well earned beer or coffee along the way. We headed off around rue de seine and rue Bonaparte to the chichi interior decorators shops, stopped for a coffee on the corner of rue bonaparte and watched a never ending queue into Laduree chocolate, pastry and cake shop. We watched for nearly an hour and the queue never diminished in length.. it was always out onto the street! Proud bearers of the beautiful pale green boxes and bags emerged with grins on their faces! They should have been crying at the prices!! We turned back up towards Rue Buci, back onto Bld St Germain. We had people to meet ..... later that night we walked all the way up Rue St Jaques back up to Blvd Montparnasse/Port Royal and had a late dinner before heading back to Falstaff for a night cap (or two) and our well deserved bed for all our walking!
We spent a week in this hotel in Jan 08, the staff where friendley and spoke good English. The hotel was in a great location with a great little pub directly oppsite the hotel, many resturants in the area good transport links all close by bus, metro and trains. An ideal base to browse around Paris. The room size was not bad with seperate bathroom, TV and minibar aslo in room. Rooms made up everyday by maids a good clean hotel with breakfast included in price which included fresh juice pasteries jams tea and coffee all fresh served in the little resturant. We enjoyed our stay at the Renoir a good value hotel in a nice location
My family and I stayed at Hotel Renoir for a weekend. There are two in the street one i assume is the nice boutique the other is the one we were sent to covered entirely by hoardings. The service was rude, the rooms nothing to speak highly of. My problem with the hotel is that I left my handbag there and called when on the way to airport to be told it had be locked up for a month and could not be returned until the manager was back from holidays. I have since called 4-5 times each time never a loud to speak to a manager additionally i have emailed over 20-40 times with very few responses. It has now been 6 months my handbag, possesions all of which are very valuable to me have not been returned and even though i have offered to pay they still have not responded. I am looking into further action but in my view any hotel or service provider that does not return a guests possesions cannot be trusted. I will remove this review when my purse is returned until then please take my advice and dont expect anything from this hotel other than bad service, small dull rooms over looking the road and please dont leave anything there!
Arrived at 13.30, a rude receptionist told us we had to wait until two to check in. Room should have been superior, not sure what a standard room looks like if we were in a superior. Room tatty and noisy, we were over looking the street. No heating control so unable to not turn down heating and have windows closed. Shower room, didn't smell very pleasant, doesn't give any privacy and only big enough for one person to stand in. Plastic sheets on the bed. Thought the hotel was supposed to be sound proofed? Smell of smoke penetrating room from downstairs/outside. Overall experience - disappointing.
In sept we arrived at Hotel Renior Paris, this was to be a trip of a lifetime instead it was a living nightmare , the room was dirty, small to say the least for three adults, the receptionist was the rudest person I have ever met. I will be taking this up with the travel agent who booked this accommodation, yes i expected smaller accomm however in Australia this would be totally illegal to rent this out in the tourist area.
I was in Paris for 4 nights and stayed at this hotel the entire time. First impressions was that it was in a nice neighborhood, close to a few Metro stops and several nice cafes. The elevator was really small, but I managed to squeeze in with another person and our luggage. The staff was friendly and helpful, they all spoke English. The room was a typical small European hotel room, but functional. The bathroom was nice and clean, our bed was comfortable. I'm not sure if the room had a/c because it was so nice out at the time I was there. We kept the window open at night and it wasn't too noisy, considering we had a street view. I thought the hotel was a good bargain and in a good location to get to the Metro, but I didn't think that there was much to do in Montparnasse itself.
Upon arrival we were given a room with a double bed despite requesting twin beds. Eventually we were 'upgraded' to a superior room with twin beds. I really can't work out how this room was classified as superior. The bathroom was very old and dingy. The beds were ok but the whole room had a very classic 80s feel. During our stay the hotel was undergoing some renovation work. Hence our view from the window consisted of scaffolding and wooden planks. No view of the street what so ever. The staff were fairly helpful and polite. But don't ask for the use of an iron, a mains adaptor or any extra pillows- because they won't have any. In regards to location, this hotel is spot on. The Metro is only a very short distance away and you can even walk to main attractions such as the Eiffel Tower if feeling strenuous enough. I really do feel this hotel should be a 2 star instead of 3. Photos in the brochures are misleading. Never-the-less if you are only planning a short stay it is ok.
We arrived on Sunday afternoon after some confusion over the whereabouts of the "Hotel Renoir" (some bright spark chose to name two hotels in the same street with the same names). The manager was a pleasant chap who made no isssue of the fact we checked in an hour early. Our room was supposed to be a "superior" which left us baffled as to what a normal room would include. The room was moderately sized with just enough room to walk around the comfortable two beds pushed together (despite booking a double). The bathroom was clean and a good size with marble floor; limp hose-like hairdryer and reasonably powered shower. We are not interior design snobs, but the decor was, at best, inspired by the chintzy eighties and the carpet was grubby and at least 20 years old. The view from the window was overlooked by another 5 hotel rooms, so to ensure we had some measure of privacy the curtains remained firmly closed. There must have been a wealth of smokers in the hotel during our stay, as the stench of tobacco pervaded the corridors, reception and lift (thankfully it did not enter our room). I would advise a good set of foam ear plugs for those who sleep lightly, to ensure you are not disturbed by noise from nearby rooms and people passing in the corridors. Breakfast was eventually served by a rude lady, after waiting 10 minutes to sit down to a clean table. We were told there were no more croissants or pastries followed by a shrug indicating this was not something she particularly cared about. We made do with white bread rolls, jam, tea and a yoghurt of some description. I was unimpressed, although my partner was delighted with the rocket fuel coffee. If you are after basic accommodation in a great location with good transport links, this is the hotel for you. You could do worse, but I suspect you could do better...
Visit started off with some questions like ...we don't have your reservation even though we had a confirmation from the hotel. We stayed 3 nights and the first night, since our reservation for a triple room couldn't be found stayed in a double room with a roll-a-way bed which made things very tight. Couldn't open the door with the roll-a-way open. Breakfast is tasty but you are charged 10 Euros per person. Be careful that if you don't eat the breakfast to tell the front desk as they assume you ate it and charge you for it. Once our resrvation was corrected on day 2, the room was better. Good location to Montparnese Avenue. Hop on - Hop Off tour bus has a pick up location around the corner from the hotel. There is an internet cafe across the street from the hotel that is very reasonable. Small elevators. No sitting chairs you have to lay on your bed to watch TV. Good value. Easy access to subway. DeGualle airport is about 1 hour away.
read with interest all the negative comments and so was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel- I've been to Paris many times and found this to be a good bargain in a beautiful location, and the complaints surprised me. How much time does one spend in a hotel when one is in Paris??? The rooms were clean, well- maintained, and yes, the subway trains rumble underneath, but the easy access to excellent connections was great! The street is quiet at night even though it is directly off the Boulevard du Montparnasse, the little grocery across the street and the taxiphone shop for excellent internet and phone access, and the creperies that line the rue made this an ideal location in my opinion. Staff was welcoming and friendly for the most part, even the night crew, several of whom struggled with English, but did their best to be helpful. I'd stay here again in a minute!
Overall, this was a wonderful holiday in a wonderful little hotel. We got great first impressions, yes there are two hotels called Renoir on the street but we easily found the right one thanks to the little yellow canopy as seen on their website. The staff were polite with good English. There was a slight problem with the allocation of a room (we were sent to a room with someone else's suitcases already in, not to mention someone in the bathroom!), but the staff were apologetic and helpful and it was soon sorted out. We had no other problems during our stay. The staff looked after our bags on the last day, and there is the tiniest lift I have ever seen! We had to go up one at once with our suitcases, but it just added to the fun. But don't worry if you don't like lifts, there's only about six floors and the stairs are fine for getting cases up, nice and wide and not steep. The rooms aren't cramped but neither are they big. Every room has a private bathroom which consists of a toilet, sink and shower. The shower is big for the size of the bathroom (which is small), but the compact layout didn't cause any inconvenience, even if it was a dodgy orange colour! Everything was clean, the bed was comfy. Generally, the hotel has a real French feel, and is in a wonderful spot right in the middle of the city, but because it is down a small side street we never had a noise problem. Breakfast was incredibly yummy, consisting of various pastries, bread, jams and so on. We pre-paid for breakfast through the website we booked with, £20 for two for three nights, which on reflection was a little steep (especially as I overslept two out of three mornings!). Overall, the hotel has a cosy feel. It is small but not cramped. 3* is a pretty accurate rating, it isn't flashy, but for the amount of time we actually spent there (there's so much to do in Paris), it was perfect. I would definately go back. Finally, if you do book, I recommend the bar across the road!
To my husband and I, the Hotel Renoir was not what it was advertised to be. While it was clean, the management in the hotel was obviously cutting corners and much of what we saw was in need of updating: old and run-down appliances and furnishings, broken hairdryer, the 60s tile in the bathroom, the threadbare bedspreads with holes, etc. (I wonder in what year it was "entirely refurbished?") Those things can be forgiven, but it was also advertised as having air-conditioning and sound-proof walls, neither of which we found to be the case (the power to our AC was turned off and it was very warm). Also, it is advertised that you can leave your baggage there after checkout, but they don't tell you that they charge 2 euros a bag. When we asked about this price, the man at the front desk explained it is because they keep it locked away in a secure room and it is watched carefully. So we paid the price, and came back three hours later to find our bag still sitting in the lobby by the front desk! The same man explained that the storage room was full, and did not offer to return our money. Anyone could have walked away with it!
We stayed here for Valentines and it was really lovely. Our room was really nice, just like the photos on the website. If you phone down to reception in the morning they will bring your breakfast up to your room. All the staff seemed really friendly and spoke English very well. Great location, less than a minutes walk to the metro. We booked through lastminute, 3 nights including our flights (with Air France) plus breakfast, cost us £350 for the both of us. We had such a lovely time and would definately go back to this hotel.
Arrived at 10.30 am, nice girl in reception, checked us in and put our suitcases in the cupboard for later as rooms were not ready. That was the end of cordiality. Rooms were at back even altho we had booked front rooms, very small, windows did not close so could hear aircon of next door buildings all night combined with the toilet fan - bathroom door did not close. Must say the bed was very comfortable, latex mattress. Breakfast was not bad, selection of bread & croissant, yogurt, cheese and lots of coffee, served however on day 1 by a very rude lady. Bedroom was not very clean as I found out when I moved the bed to plug in my phone charger! The worst was the rudeness of the manager and as another reviewer said the charge for keeping the suitcases on our last day, 2 euros each. The hotel is in a great area, super bar right in front, and thats why people stay there, but I am sure they do it only once! I run my own hotel and maybe am more critical of how important customer service should be, would never treat my guests with such disdain and bad attitude. Definately go back to the area of Rue de Monparnasse, great communications with 3 metro stations withing 5 minutes of the hotel.
I would not normally write a review but i feel like some people might like to know how bad the advertised '3 star' hotel is. my partner and i had a excellent time in paris however the hotel really let us down, the rooms are small and dated, our toilet leaked constantly, during the night we were awoken by noises from all other rooms and the breakfast consisted of a bread roll. honestly please don't book this as it will spoil your time and paris is such a lovely place to enjoy a break
Booked with Last Minute. Ordered a Twin and got a double. The receptionist was unable to offer any solution, shrugging of shoulders. The room was brown and small but clean. Requested a twin the next day only to find a crumpled pile of bed lined on the bed. We had to make the beds ourselves!!! Complained again!! and got moved to Hotel Unic down the street. A better room but the staff were horrendously rude and breakfast was hit and miss, you may get a croissant if there were any left!! Our advice if you want a pleasurable time in Paris and enjoy every hour of your stay avoid both Hotel Renoir and Hotel Unic.
booked with last minute and when sighning in at breakfast seeing that half the other guest had done the same !!! don't do it !! ON arrival given the key to the room and told to go to the 6th floor where are supposed speacial duluxe twin room was.. first worry right next to the lift but that wasn't the problem in the end all night and day from the cuboard just outside the room there was a constunt humming noise unbearable (room 63 i think) !! next morning after little sleep asked for another room .. surprisingly none left of that catergorie probably the only one and given keys to two other rooms by a rude lady not interesting in the problem and told to tell her which one we wanted. they couldnt help at all with luggage we repacked and were allowed to move back in again in the afternoon this room faced the back of the house and just had the sound of the air con from one of the ajoining houses.. Things were looking up until i got food poisoning from the restaurant next door !! Check out !! well all i can say is that are just plain rude ! no appologies nothing wanted to charge us for leaving the one suitcase there for a couple of hours !! Oh and the breakfast is adaquate...
This was the worst travel experience I have had. We arrived to the Hotel Renoir with a confirmed booking and were told that our hotel was down the street (at a hotel UNAFFILIATED with either of the Renoir Hotels). When I confronted the concierge with the paper booking he continued to tell me the hotel was down the street and that there were no rooms left in the Renoir. Then he stated that he didn't have our booking (for which we had already paid a fee) and pretended to flip through a pile of bookings when my own name caught the corner of my eye. When confronted with the booking, the story changed and he insisted that my credit card was denied. He had no answer as to why I wasn't contacted and refused cash payment. When asked to return credit card information he repeatedly refused. We left to find a hotel in the middle of the night and a few days later my credit card was charged.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for the long weekend in May. We booked it through last minute because it was so close to everything (its like being in London's Zone 1) we found it really easily using the metro and it really was perfect for seeing the city. Ye steh rooms are small and the breakfast is basic but the staff were friendly and really what on earth are you doing spending your whole time in the hotel - YOU'RE IN PARIS!!! But in a city notorious for its shocking hotels this one wasn't so bad esp at the price we paid - it was a bargain. One suggestion would be not to include breakfast and use oine of the many cafe and restaurants around it.
I think this hotel is getting a slightly unfair drubbing! Stayed here for 3 nights just before Easter while visiting family. It's definitely not chic, or glamorous, or luxurious, but considering how cheap it was you really can't complain. Yes, the rooms are small, but show me a low price hotel in Paris that DOESN'T have small rooms! Had a lovely clean bathroom and excellent maid service, and as for noise - we were on the ground floor and couldnt hear a thing! As for the NJ woman who compalined about being fined - DON'T bring in guests you haven't paid for! Really, what did you expect? If you're a picky person, you probably wont like this hotel, but if you're looking for somewhere convenient to rest your head at night, it's just fine.
When we stayed here, we were on the 2nd floor, which we had to walk up to through a tiny staircase. Our room was very small but clean. The shower was a small stand up shower. However, the hotel was on a nice little street with a lot of restaurants and pubs and was very close to the Edgar Quinet Metro station. The metro is very easy to use and allows you access to all the major attractions. Whenever you leave the hotel you have to leave your key at the front desk, which we not told about beforehand, and then informed of on the second day. Also, do not ask the concierge for a corkscrew when bringing in wine from outside because according to him, they sell wine and their corkscrews are for that. There are a number of things that need improvement, but due to the location and the price we paid per night ($130 CDN) we can't really complain.
This hotel is really really tacky and the biggest rip off out there. First, the downstairs area reception is tiny, and there is nowhere to sit or do anything. You have to walk up a tiny stairwell to get to your room which is possibly the size of a shoebox, give or a take an inch or two. The bathroom shower was so small that I couldnt even bend over to shave my legs, there was also no cold water, so I almost scolded myself. It was loud while I slept and I really would have been happier at a Howard Johnsons or Motel 6. To make matters worse, we "illegally" had three people in a double and when I came downstairs the next morning they slapped us with 35 Euro in Fines. So basically we paid 185 Euro a night for a dump, and 35 Euro for a friend to sleep on the floor. The place was really that bad, that we decided to leave after the first night and we lost 300 Euros, because in our opinion we would be better having lost the money that staying in that place. The service was atrocious as well. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, ITS THE PITS!!!!!
I wrote a long story about my nightmare stay at this hotel and unfortunately my computer got tilt and lost the data. My conclusion was: DONT STAY AT THE RENOIR. Filty and awful rooms, but most than anything rude and helpless staf (in particular the night guy). It is the worst hotel I ve ever stayed, and I wouldnt return not even for free. All other postings about this hotel are totally true and my personal experience says that it s even worst than what they describe. The staff is ready to cheat you whenever they can, from making you paying a "fee" to store your lugagge, to overpricing a transfer to the airport. Housekeepers screaming in the hallways, a night guy absoutely helpless, that would insult you for walking into the hotel late and waking him up, or asking him for assistance with finding an address and telling you "go check in the metro station" or telling you go ask the guy in the hotel around the corner for any question (e.g internet place, cinema, whathever). AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL HOTEL RENOIR. An Accor Formula 1 with self service computer desks instead of staff is way much better.
The hotel is in a really wonderful area, I really enjoyed the restaurant and cafes of the Montparnasse area. The hotel himself was confartable and clean, the personnel friendly! Everything was fine, I really want to go back to that hotel!
Even getting two nights for free couldn't make us stay here. The staff were rude, the hotel crummy, the room tiny (you couldn't swing a kitten, and I know Parisian hotels are pushed for space but this was takinig the p***), the bathroom like something out of a timewarp - very 1970s and in need of a good scrub. In fact I would bulldozer the whole place. The worst thing was that the metro trains rumble underneath the hotel almost continuously - the only break you get is when they stop at the station. I had an awful, sleepless night, and checked out straight away the next morning, even though we had the stay for free. Checked into the Opera Cadet which was a wonderful breath of fresh air in comparison, and didn't mind one bit paying for a good night's sleep in calm, clean and fresh surroundings.
TELEVISION DEFECTUEUSE SIGNALEE MAIS NON PRISE EN COMPTE PAR LA RECEPTION
I booked this hotel for four nights recently. On arrival we got a very curt reception. The rooms smelt of smoke and were extremely small. The bathroom was filthy dirty. We were unable to sleep because of the noise. In the morning we asked for internet access and were told this would cost €12 euro per hour (very expensive by any standard). I then asked for a telephone number in Paris and was told they they would not look for it and it would only be available if I came to the reception. After much consternation at the reception the only directory which was available began with the letter L as I was looking for a number beginning with C this was of no help at all). We decided to check out as they were so rude and on leaving the receptionist screamed at us that we had not given her the key (we had in fact given it her). It took a few more screams from her before she realised that she had it all the time. We changed to a fantastic 3 star in St. Michel and had a perfect weekend. Dont go to the Renoir.
They seem to do a huge internet business. Mostly foreign tourists. Pros: Small TV with cable was nice. Location is ideal. A block from metro. There are phones and mini-bars in the rooms. Cons: I question the 3-star rating. Small room with peeling wallpaper and a one-star bed (two lumpy twin beds pushed together, and made with full-size sheets and blanket that held the hairs of previous guests.) Bathroom was not particularly clean. Room was not ready for me when promised. The "concierge" was irritable -- arguing with guests about reservations most of the times I walked past the desk. And my pre-paid rate through Hotwire was supposed to include all taxes and fees, but they still charged me a "city tax" when I left. It was a minor charge so I paid without questioning it because I was happy to get out of there, but I will to stay elsewhere next time.
I booked the Hotel Renoir at 39 Montparnasse (there are two Hotels Renoir on Montparnasse, both owned by the same company and both look similar), without really doing any research as the price and location were good. Then I read some reviews on this site and thought I had booked a dud. Most of the reviews were bad. This was a wonderful little hotel !!! The reception guys (all of them) couldn't have been more helpful and funny and just couldn't do enough for us. I was with my 18 yr old son and his best friend and was in Paris for a cooking course - whoever was on reception at the time I had a question was always friendly and helpful - gave us maps, directions, took phone messages for us etc. The little breakfast room was nice and the pastries (included in the price) were lovely - they let me take a tray up to the boys with juice etc. The room and bathroom was clean and was all that we needed - how much time does one spend in their hotel room when in Paris anyway. It was airconditioned, had a little fridge, clean linens etc. The location was just great. Forget those negative reviews - for the money, this was a bargain.
Read all the reviews with interest as we have just returned from a two day visit from Paris where we stayed at the Hotel Renoir. While the rooms were not particularly plush they were perfectly adequate for the price and location. Bathrooms clean and quite large. We also found the staff friendly. If you want a cheap hotel in a good location with lots happening then its quite a good deal.
Not clean, unfreindly personel, TINY (and i mean TINY) rooms, no view at all (at least not in our "SUPERIOR" room, not very pleasant surroundings (at night), disgusting bathroom. But perhaps most important scoundrals behind the desk and possibly in the leadership. They did not give me neither the room or the price we agreed on. Stay away - and by the way the same people have another hotel further down the street ..
I didn't believe what I read here and I went to see it for myself. Now,after my visit, the only good thing I can say about this hotel is its location.Do not be fooled by the pictures and if this is newly decorated, I do not want to imagine what it was before the decoration! The bathtub faucets were not working, floor was cracked and shower curtain was quite dirty.Superior rooms were fairly ok for French standards.Furniture and curtains were old and and carpets were stained.I don t understand how this hotel could be 3 star, there must be a mistake in the French rating system. Couldn t understand on what they based the rating. It is not enough to just have a safe and mini-bar to get 3 stars, I think cleanliness is a very important necessity for any star let alone 3 star. The amount of staff change during the 4 nights I stayed was not a positive factor, although if we consider the  french attitude I cannot complain. And that is if I do not count the first night where the reception staff tried to give me double room while my reservation was for superior room. must say, though, that I was lucky to have gotten the last minute rate of 55 euro s otherwise this hotel does not come close to deserving its real quoted rate of 220 euro s. You can be sure that I will never pick this hotel again regardless of any discount or deal!
Got the hotel recommended by one of the "order by web" sites. Seems like the web sites doesn?t exactly deliver unbiased information. When we arrived we got a poor room and not very friendly service at all - it to us it seemed that the reason was that we had paid a price lover than the ordinary tariffs.Totally understandably of course, but from now on I will order hotels through a professional bureau. My holiday weeks are more precious to me than saving some money by ordering through the net.
We are economical travellers so we don't expect the world for what we pay, but the Hotel Renoir left us completely unsatisfied. We obviously stayed in the (not advertised) unrenovated half with no elevators. Typically disinterested French staff. Room vibrates every ten minutes from the subway. Anybody over 80kgs probably won't fit in the shower. Nice part of Paris, just not a nice (or honest) hotel.
Hotel Renior is a well located and comfortable. However, we stayed in the rooms overlooking the street and the noise was terrible. There is a bar next door and it stays open till about 3am. Make sure you bring ear plugs!!
small little hotel in the heart of paris. located in a narrow street with loads of restaurants, bars and creperies - but it's calm. the hotel is clean and nicely decorated and the staff is friendly. breakfast will be offered for additional costs. it's worth taking it, especially on sundays and holidays where most of the "public"-breakfast places are closed. breakfast is well portioned compared to standard french breakfast. public parking is a mess - but there are at least two public car-parks within 2-3 minutes to walk. public transport is just round the corner.restaurants and bars are also within seconds to minutes and a grocery is just on the opposite.overall i can recommend this nice little hotel.
we stayed at this hotel in december 2006, initial booked for 3 nights. booked a superior deluxe, problems as follows: 1. no such thing as a "delux" 2. do NOT be fooled by the pictures on thier web site or any other site. 3. rooms are small, smell of detergent, no light, old , dated , tiles cracked, stained, double bed is 2 singles pushed together. 4. bathroom is 1970's 5. lift STILL doesnt work, see review of 2004!! 6. rooms next door to stairwell , so v.noisy 7. no BAR 8. breakfast ,a bread roll and some cheese 9. when you try and cancel the reservation and get ur monety back, the hotel will always refuse as its at thier discretion if you have booked through the internet company. 10. person at reception ( a tiny desk), patronising, and thinks that all people who stay at the hotel are fools 11. MEN who wish to END thier relationship with thier partners may want to book with this hotel 12. WOMEN if ur partners book this hotel ,you will have th liscence to be able to blackmail them and win every argument for the rest of your lives together. need i say anymore, DONT BOOK THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A HOTEL
Rooms were dirty and very small. No elevator - at least not where we lived. Could hardly get our suitcases up the stairs and into our room. Not eny place to store them either. The personel were mixed to say it mildly some were service minded and helpful (the man working at night) but most were of the very very laid back type who hardly noticed you. We allso had problems agreeing about the bill, but complaints were useless. Brekfeast was not worth the extras, it's included in many other alternatives in Paris. Better to aet around the corner. The surroundings were OK at daytime, but I would not recomend it at night time. Good luck searching ...
This Hotel was a disaster form the start. A recpepttionist more interested in talking in the phone than checking us in. Even though we had reserved (and payed) for a superior room - the rom stinked we got stinked and had a terrible look towards the backyard. Even though they had better rooms - we even did not get the price difference back. But worst of all - the cleaning - I do not reccomend yoy to take a look under the bed ..I have been to Paris several times and can recomend hotels far,far better than this. 3 stars?I've been to ome stars hotels with a more frendlier and cleaner look than this one.
