I thought previous reviews looked mixed, but considering the hotel's position and price I chose it anyway. I stayed there 3 nights and was not disappointed. It is extremely well situated, in fact it probably has the best location if you want to be central in the Vieux Port in Marseille and have the best view. I made sure to ask for a view of the port, and the room itself was well proportioned, clean, nicely furnished (not just standard melamine-fronted 'hotel furniture') and with a spotless, new-looking bathroom. (With regard to previous reviews, we had absolutely no trouble with number of towels - easily enough, and replaced daily!) The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and it was very easy to get from the Gare St Charles (where the airport bus drops you) which is just 2 metro stops away. All the useful Marseille buses pass near the door, the tourist office is close by and there are so many restaurants and brasseries close by that even on a December Sunday we were spoilt for choice as to where to eat. Probably wouldn't recommend the hotel breakfast, simply because they don't serve it in a room with a view, and you can fall out of the hotel door and straight into either of two lovely bars serving delicious coffee and breakfast so it doesn't matter. The other comment I had read here was about someone not being able to make it up the stairs - I suppose if you have limited mobility there is a small problem in that the lift starts on the first floor and there are about 15 or so steps until you get there, but I'm sure the staff would help. Overall I consider the hotel to be a real find, and I recommend it fully to anyone and everyone.

Compared to some of the "3 star" hotels I have stayed in over the last few weeks in Marseille, this 2 star outshines many. Rooms are basic and the bathroom is small, but both are clean, comfortable and practical. I'll be staying here again!

the hotel is very basic, i stayed with a group of friends, the rooms are small but they are clean and tidy service really good the stairs are a little curvy but there is a lift. the location is great opposite the harbour, metro 2 min away lots of cafe and bars. if you want somewhere as a base with no frills then this hotel is perfect.

The rooms without the sea-view were tiny. Nowhere near big enough for two people. The stairs were angled at a dangerous angle, which became incresingly precarious as one ascends. The hotel provided one hand towel and one bath towel for two guests. We requested more towels, and soap, which never arrived. This depressing, dark, pokey building was not value for money.

The hotel was conveniently located (near to the port and subway station which was about two stations from the train station) and has a great view of the port. The room was clean and there was a lift for use. Internet access was available free of charge but signal was weak in the room, so recommend using the facility in the common room. The staff were friendly and helpful. We found the hotel satisfactory.

Even for this price it was not satisfactory. I don't know how other rooms are, but if you can avoid the "court view" rooms and take something against mosquitoes. On the positive side the service is really nice and the breakfast quite good.

Great view of the old harbour - we stayed on top floor and the city bustling below. Room was fine and clean - bed was more than adequate. We ordered breakfast in bedroom a couple of times and ate out the other morning - as with most French hotels, it's probably better to have breakfast in a little patisserie, just like French people do! Staff were very friendly and the hotel offered free internet access. Speed was great and my PDA never dropped off the connection. If I were staying in Marseille again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here.

Great little hotel, basic and clean and location excellent. It's a must to book a harbour room as the view is superb. Staff also very friendly and helpful.

The rooms with a view towards the harbour must certainly be the best, but the upper row (at least) have their windows placed high up, and the view is somewhat limited, even though they are sold as "with a view". The rooms are quite large, and the bathrooms very nice. Breakfast includes a small buffet and is OK. The breakfast restaurant is fascinatingly small. Considering everything, staying there is certainly a good offer, though, for the price you pay.

If you can get a room with a view it would be amazing, Clean, moderate sized rooms in the best location in Marseilles. The Patio view rooms are exactly that, but given the price a bargain 4/5

Great location right on the Vieux Port, but a disappointment if you don't have a room with that view. Bulb immediately went in the bathroom but was quickly replaced. Rather tired room and breakfast is functional at best, but for the money this was an adequate hotel.

Acceptable -- clean and adequate but nothing to get excited about. The location is ideal, the staff friendly. However, the mattress sagged one one side and was very uncomfortable.
