After hitting Paris and Marseille and tired of restaurant food (i love french food but there is nothing like the french markets and grocery stores), it was so great to be able to stay at the citadines in cannes for 5 days. So they don't clean your room daily (or ever in the 5 days we were there) but for a change you didn't have to clean your room because the housecleaning was coming and worry about where you left things. I mean who wants to clean on vacation? I found this a welcome change. The kitchen had everything you needed - cutlery, tea pot, plates, pots. We would just go down to the grocery store at the corner, or the Monoprix 2 min. away, or the Marche Forville - yummm. BUt the best was the ravioli from "aux bon raviolis" on rue meynadier. You must try the olives ravioli! Some ravioli, cotes de provence, your own couch - what a way to take a break between walks on the croisette and shopping on rue d'antibes.... with a the train station 2 min. away - we were able to see all the riviera with no problems..

We have just come back from a week at the Citadines Cannes apts. I think they were great value for money in the expensive French Riveria. Okay the street they are next to is a bit noisy, but on the whole fantastic value for money. The beach is a 10 minute walk away, and is close to a supermarket, (about 1 mins walk away). On the whole I would recommend these apartments as a great 'above average' base for all the sights.

The Citadines Hotel was just off a very busy and very noisy street, the traffic could be heard from our room. It was a good 10/15 walk to the beach across lots of very busy roads. Our rooms were slightly shabby and in need of updating - not that clean - our toilet smelt awful!! Also there were dirty marks running down the back of the bathroom door. The hotel foyer was however very bright and modern and the staff very helpful. For the money I suppose it was good value but I would prefer in future to pay slightly more and not go for an apartment/type room. Everything was very cramped and felt claustrophobic - the kitchen area was so small,we didn't use it at all and again not that clean, there were dried-up spillage stains in the cupboards. The roof garden was a bit of a joke, it is so small you would be lucky to get more than 3 people out there at once and consisted of a couple of sunloungers and a few potted plants!! With a bit more attention to detail and cleaning it could be much better, but I would pass on this one again.

Citadines is a nice place to stay if u´re looking for a clean and cheap place to stay. It´s about 10-15 minutes by foot to the next beach, but lies next to a noisy street called Boulevard Carnot( though you won´t hear the noise from ur room). The big plus about the hotel are the fully equipped kitchens ( alhough I wish they were covered up more..) which we used often as restaurants in Cannes are overly expensive and as it´s fun to buy fresh croissants in the morning and eat them in ur room . What annoyed me a bit were the colours of the decoration..all into orange and pistacio green ...but all in one it was a nice stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel if u´re loooking for a hotel close to the main shopping street ( 2 mins by foot) , cheap ( so there´s more money for shopping)and most importantly clean

We stayed the Citadines hotel in Cannes for 3 days in Sep 2005 for our honeymoon. We were looking for an inexpensive but nice place, and chose the Citadines. It was wonderful. The staff were very polite and helpful. Our room was neat and comfortable with a sofa that can pull out to a bed, an attached kitchentte and a balcony (European hotel rooms are typically not as big as rooms in American hotels). We had actually booked a standard room, but when we arrived, the staff upgraded us to the best room since we were on our honeymoon. The Citadines is well located, with parking and food/drink/shopping places right next to the hotel. The Cannes beach/ocean front are all about a 15 minute enjoyable walk away. Next time at Cannes, we will definitely stay at the Citadines again. Staying at Cannes was a wonderful way to see the Rivera, being a little less crowded than Nice. Nice, Monaco, Antibes, Provonce are all driving distace and we managed to cover all these places during our stay at Cannes.
