this is a dreadful hotel, not as described and certainly not a 4 star hotel. No porter to carry bags, unhelpful receptionist, threadbare carpets, dirty bathroom and toilet, dirty windows and a tiny room. I did not even unpack, my request for somebody to come and clean the room was ignored. My request for a different room was refused so I left and found another hotel. AWFUL

My partner and I stayed at the hotel for one week vacation during august 06. Our stay was an absolute pleasure, the hotel was clean, very comfortable and the modern styled room and reception was very much in keeping with modern design hotels. The pool area was perfect place to relax with the morning and afternoon sunshine and although the train track was close by you hardly noticed the very occassion train. The beech was less than 5 minutes stroll away and actually although slightly out of the town centre - this part of beech offered the best area for couples and families to relax. Don't stay in this hotel if you want to be in the heart of Cannes - but we really enjoyed the 10 minute stroll each morning and evening into the center along the seafront. If you didn't like the stroll, take the busy which runs so frequently from right outside the hotel to the centre. Be aware you will need to travel into the centre of cannes for bars, shops and resturants - unless you want to eat in the close by italian - just opposite the hotel - or try Paradise sandwich for the occassion lunch pannie. We would most certainly go back to the hotel - we loved it. Even though the hotel bar and resturant was expensive - the overall stay was a pleasure.

I made my reservation directly on the hotels internettpage, 4 days later I canceled it. The day after I went on holiday, when I returned from holiday, Amangani Hotel had deducted 1 night from my visacard. I mailed my receipt from Outlook, but was blatantly rejected. I canceled the hotel 3 weeks before arival. The Hotel booking regulation states that as long as you cancel your booking 72h before arrival their will be no extra fee. If you where to book this hotel be very careful and hope the hotel staff doesen't take to many copies of your creditcard.

We booked the hotel with tripadvisor. But it was not like the pictures make you believe. It was the most ugly old room you can imagion. It is not 1 km from city centre but at least 3!! no minibar and typical rude french staff. YOU ARE WARNED!!

I recently stayed at this hotel during the Cannes Advertising Festival. All I can say is that it was awful. For one, it's 2.5km away from the main centre of Cannes which makes for a lot of walking. It's in the worst part of Cannes. We saw street kids dealing drugs at night and police chasing them on a reguar basis. If somehow you do end up here - don't venture out at night. Anyway ... enough about the location .... This place calls itself a 'resort hotel' which is laughable considering it doesn't even have a mini bar. When we called to ask where the mini bar was the reception desk just hung up on us. It does have a pool. But your idealic poolside retreat is interrupted at regular intervals by a train which rattles past directly in front of it. The main train line is literally right in front of the pool - about three metres away. I can go on and on about this miserable excuse for accomodation. If it was a quarter of the price they ask to stay there it would be understandable. Save your cash and sanity - stay somewhere else.

My wife and I stayed for 2 weeks during the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. This was our first time to Cannes. HOTEL QUALITY: Dated exterior, somewhat recently updated interior. Interior design improvements are contemporary and stylish but certainly could have been done to a higher level. STAFF: Courteous but nothing exceptional. LOCATION: A 5 minute walk to the beach and a 20 minute walk down to the main Festival and shopping district (or 5 minutes by car). But, you don't want' to be driving a car during the Festival. It's insanely crowded and parking is non existent. PARKING: There is parking in a garage under the hotel for which they charge. Parking in the garage with anything other than a small car (same with any parking in this area) is an excercise you won't soon forget if you're American. FOOD: The hotel serves a nice continental (French) breakfast in a nice dining area overlooking the pool. They also have a small bar and patio area overlooking the pool. No restaurant on site. POOL: Small but nicely landscaped. A nice option for days when the beach conditions are less than ideal. OVERALL: Definitely not up to resort standards by American measure but it kind of grew on us as we lowered our expectations and just enjoyed the beauty of the French Riviera. In NY, this would probably rate as a 2.5 star hotel.

Don't get fooled by the picture of the fancy reception on the hotel website! the individual rooms are horrible and not even worth a single star!

The Amangani Resort has been recently renovated, but it's difficult to tell from the somewhat dated exterior. The interior, however, is beautifully decorated in a rich, ethnic-inspired theme. The rooms are plush, modern, and sophisticated, complete with plasma TVs. The bathrooms are gorgeous, with funky, ultra-modern fixtures and dramatic slate tiling. The hotel advertises wifi, but it's not free; in fact it was quite expensive. I brought my laptop but went to an internet cafe in town instead, as the hotel wifi was overpriced. There is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel, where several different buses can take you into Cannes' city centre. However, you can also walk into town along the beach, which takes about 15 minutes. The breakfast was nice, but lacked hot dishes. There were french pastries, cereal, bread, cheese, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc. The outdoor lounge/pool area is very pretty and inviting. The title "resort" is a bit of a misnomer, as there are really no sauna or gym facilities in the hotel and the hotel does not own a private beach. However, there is a nice stretch of public beach behind the hotel, which you can access via a private gate through the hotel's back garden. The staff was young, but very accommodating and all spoke good english. Overall, my stay at the Amangani was very relaxed and comfortable. The hotel's new 4-star designation is certainly not without merit.

I would definately recommend this hotel.. Nice pool and surroundings in a good location, only 2 minutes to beach and less than 10 minutes to train station, where you can catch trains to Nice airport & Monaco. Although there are no restaurants nearby - the hotel is about a 20 minute walk along the sea front into Cannes. Staff are very friendly and helpful, breakfast is good and plentiful, rooms although outdated are clean and make sure to pay that bit extra and get a sea view room - definately worth it!

The hotel has a very 70's decor and is definitely in need of a refit. In addition, the bar is very expensive but then again, so is Cannes. Nice pool. The staff were very pleasant, the room was clean when we got one that had been cleaned but we were early. We got a good deal so did not expect too much. Bit of a long walk into Cannes but buses good.

Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Solhotel is in dire need of a refit - to stay in it is like going back to the 70's, both in terms of it's service and more specifically its decor. Additionally, although the hotel IS close to the beach - however no one mentions that between the beach and the hotel is the main coast road, AND the main railway with the very fast (and very loud) TGV. My wife and I stayed at the Solhotel as part of a larger group under the auspices of a large UK travel company. Our stay was only short but we we found the hotel to be extremely comfortable, the standard of the rooms very high as was the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have no hesitation in recommending the Solhotel. Our stay was from 10th.to 14th September 2002.
