We have just returned from staying at this hotel for a long weekend. We really couldnt fault it for very much.So now down to business. Firstly the check-in staff were very friendly to us and were very efficient in dealing with our booking and geting us to our room quickly. No problems there. Rooms were very funky as you would expect from a boutique hotel all though we had to have our room changed due to a faulty shower but once again this did not faze the staff and a new room appointed straight away.We stayed on the Europe floor.Beware however that the candle and incense in the bathroom are NOT gifts and have to be paid for.The roof top swimming pool was super cool but the beach is always better.Do NOT use their private beach. We went there on our second day at around four in the afternoon to hire a couple of beach beds,no problems there however they charged us for the full day hire which we discovered was a little unfair as most other places offer half day rates and this annoyed us greatly as we were residents and told this the staff there but they still went ahead and charged us. We reccomend you go to the Miramar beach as they do full and half day rates which incidently is cheaper than 314's price but the place has a DJ at 5 o clock in the evening plus a sax player and the vibe is truly amazing and not to loud either. Also the staff at the Miramar were very cool and friendly with a good beach bed service...go there!!! Back to the 314 hotel now....On our second night we decided to go to their restaurant for evening dinner.Oh my God what a DISASTER.The meal was simply dreadful and we ended up asking for both our main courses to be returned to the kitchen. We didnt even try a different dish it was so bad and went hungry as the starter we had plus the bottle of wine came to 60 Euro which they insisted we pay. However with all that said the hotel was very good, we would go back again but this time wouldnt use their beach or restaurant . ... To finalise it was refreshing to stay at an unusual hotel.
Overall, this hotel is simply not worth the ludicrous price of the room purely due to the appallingly arrogant service that should not be expected in a top class hotel. First, the good points, the hotel is in a superb location, has an incredibly funky interior (although this is a little over the top and somewhat pretentious) and certainly not for the more traditional traveller. The roof pool is nice and it’s got a hip feel to it. Now for the bad points. This is probably some of the worst service I have ever encountered in relation to the ridiculous prices charged. The staff are rude and seemingly don’t know what they’re doing. A few examples, I asked the “barman” for a White Russian cocktail and he didn’t know what it was, the same went for a whiskey sour. I then asked for a vodka and apple, he didn’t even shake it, some vodka, a cube of ice, juice and straw and it costs 28 euros (22 pounds). Insane. Breakfast in your room costs 22 pounds and is poor, the milk is longlife, the waiter chucks it down and it’s cold. The scrambled eggs were brand and clearly had zero love put into them. You get yoghurt and a few patisseries. My colleague ordered a cup of tea in the restaurant on one morning, it took twenty minutes, and on arrival it was luke warm and had leaves in it. We ordered a cab and within 1 minute of doing so we decided to cancel it. The concierge looked visibly annoyed and tutted! He clenched his jaw and acted as if we’d slapped his mother. Very rude, arrogant and petulant little man. We were never made to feel welcome. The room wasn’t turned down for the night on my first night there and I had to make the bed with pillows etc from the cupboard. My a/c was broken and I requested for it to be fixed, no one ever came. Room service was constantly engaged due to a fault and getting transferred through was a nightmare. Another odd moment occurred when I had just come out of the shower and there was a woman standing in my room asking me about my laundry. Ridiculous. No apologies or a knock, in she burst and started firing questions in French. The staff in summary doesn’t have a clue, the receptionist was rarely at the desk and there’s no uniform so you can’t tell who works there and who doesn’t. Overall, they’re typically snobby and unfriendly. Too cool for school in my opinion. The rooms were good, with a few odd additions such as a sex pack on the bed so avoid if you’re a family. The rooms have a wrapped candle and incense stick holder in the loo but be warned they’re 25 pounds each if you remove them (they look like a gift but they’re not). Overall, I would avoid this hotel purely due to the service, it lacked atmosphere and seemed rather tacky as no one was there. The staff let this place down horribly. If there had been some people about and the staff were attentive and much more competent it would be great. The owner should give them all a kick up the behind at they’ve clearly invested a lot on the interior and perhaps held back on hiring experienced hotel employees I would recommend one of the more classic hotels on the beachfront instead
my friend and i went here for the weekend on the 8th may to celebrate my birthday. we arrived at about 3p.m to be told by the reception staff that there was a problem with our room and the previous people had still not checked out, we were told we could go to to the rooftop terrace and have complimentary drinks, we were a bit disappointed with this as we had been up since very early travelling and wanted to get into our room, get showered and changed and take in cannes, as we were only there for a weekend, obviously wanted to make to most of it............. 2 hours later we eventually got into our room. the breakfast is just dreadful and good luck with requesting a bottle of water from the staff at breakfast time, very rude and basically cannot be bothered. when we came to check out, they tried to charge us for the 'complimentary' drinks they gave us on arrival and various items from the minibar we had never even had, we ended having an argument with the reception manager, who was very rude and unhelpful and they ended up charging my friends credit card for 50% of the so called complimentary drinks that we were offered on arrival for the fact that we were unable to get into our room due to their fault. all in all left a sour taste in our mouth about this hotel, not a nice experience and not nice staff who act like they cannot be bothered and are rude. we won't be going back.
Uber fantastic hotel for the film festival or any time - great rate ! Very fun night club downstairs. Hip comfortable room comfy bed! A really chic setting and great rooftop garden with pool.
We stayed here for 3 nights in July 06. We absolutately loved, loved, loved the decor. Very original and funky. Not for everyones taste, but you can see the pictures for yourself. The hotel and rooms were clean. The rooms and bathroom was small but comfy. The pool and jacuzzi on the roof was great...even beats going to the beach. Their "private beach" was all booked and was far away from the hotel. We ended up just going and reserving a spot at the beach right near, no problem. The location of the hotel is great...right next to the beach and Le Croisette. Only good things to say about costumer service: they openned up the pool early for us on our last day so we could enjoy it before leaving on an early ferry. Also liked that the hotel would give out umbrellas when it started to rain. When checking in ask for a room away from the elevator, can be loud I heard. Overall, it was very reasonably priced comparing to surrounding hotels and great place to stay especially if you like the decor.
i was a bit wary about booking the 3.14 as other reveiws had said it was really tacky etc i have to disagree, me and my partner had so much fin, we went off eak so the place was empty, our favourite bit was the roof top pool - that was sooooo cool and the most amazing view, the interior was decorated beautifully, we were in the ocean floor so it wasnt to kitsch but still pretty cool. the place was done up really beautifully and there was some really cool stuff to look at on the ground floor - like the wishing fountain in the foyer and the lounging room which had a huuuge bean bag. cannes is obviously a bautiful part of the world and also very pricey. as me and my parter are both vegetarian, i was a bit apprehensive beforehand, but once we got there, there wasnt much of a problem, there is a great market that starts int he mornings where you can buy lots of fresh fruit and veg, and looked around for bakeries (were dozens) beach wise, the water was pretty cold so we didnt swim, but there was lots of sun so we were able to sit on the beach - we didnt go to the 3.14 beach cos there was a free section right next to it and it seemed a bit pointless to pay to get onto a beach which was free overall i would say that the hotel was fab, with lots of character and was just sooooo much fun
At a special rate of just over 100 euros per room you have to give this place 5 stars! It's fun, different, luxurious, outrageous. Location is perfect. The beach bar is very nice, the pool is fantastic (pity it was winter!). We ate extremely well at the restaurant. The bar and night club seemed fun. Of course there are problems and if you're paying a lot of money you may well complain about the broken hinge on the bathroom door and some slight tackiness. As I say it depends on the price.....If you get a good deal and want something hip and trendy go for it!
Posizione ottimale, albergo strepitoso, ambiente eccentrico e sofisticato. Un albergo veramente unico. NON ADATTO a chi ama le cose classiche.
simpy awful, DO NOT GO! the only redeeming features of the hotel was the beach- for which there was a charge, and the location, the breakfast was poor and the themes were tacky, the hallways were dark and gloomy, not what i would expect for a 4* hotel. they had tried to produce a individual hotel but the result was a cross between a boudoir and a zoo
I could tell from previous reviews that this was the kind of place you either love or hate! As a family with teenage kids we loved it. It's all about design and image and yes, its expensive (It's Cannes, in August, 50m from the beach!!!). We were on the Europe floor: the room was small but very nicely accessorised, with cushions, pictures and flip-flops in the bathroom. My only criticism would be shortage of drawer space and no chairs for the balcony. The restaurant food was very good (we ate at the beach restaurant) and as expensive as anywhere similar in Cannes. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was serviced twice daily. the rooftop pool is beautifully laid out although small and lougers were at a premium
The design of the hotel is absolutely fabulous! Very original! You can even choose your style between the five floors wich represent the five continents. The "decor" is carefully planed to match the feeling of Asia, America, Afica, Oceania & Europe (even different scents to match the "ambiance!)but still, it has a very nice overall style.
Stayed here for one night in Feb 07 to attend a conference in Cannes. The hotel is of a very high standard in terms of staff service, room fittings, decor, cleanliness, etc. My room was on the Oceania floor with a bay window and French doors. My colleagues were on the Asia floor and although they had access to a balcony, the decor in my room was more inviting and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent; quite gourmet and very fresh. Don't expect a fry-up here! The rooftop pool and jacuzzi have been wonderfully landscaped and have ocean views. On the ground floor there is a bar and several sitting areas/rooms which have amazing decor reminiscent of Morocco. Delicious bathroom amenities and also two pairs of colourful jandals (thongs/flipflops) to take home with you instead of the standard white towling slippers! (see photo) The only negative was lack of a proper chair to use at the desk. There was only a wooden bench, which is ok for short periods of time, but not if you were planning on doing a lot of work. If you like a direct view over the beach, this hotel isn't for you, but it's only one block back from the beach and is in an excellent location, right next to the Inter-Con. This is a very unique and stylish hotel - would be perfect for a weekend break in Cannes.
Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for 2 nights in February 2007. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed on the Asian floor and although the rooms were small they were of a nice design and a welcome change from the bland hotel rooms that I usually stay in. (I travel quite a bit on business) We found the staff to be good and we ate in the hotel restuarant on the night we arrived and found the food to be good and the atmosphere to be nice and lively. If you are young and want somewhere fun to stay I would definitely recommend this hotel. I would call this a 3.5 rather than a 4 star hotel but to mind it was not as expensive to stay in as a 4 star hotel so this was not a problem.
Arrived about 9pm, checked into my room on the first floor. Asked for a quiet room and found that I had been placed above the bar with loud bass music pumping through the floor. I asked to be moved, but was told that the hotel was full and that the music would be finished by 11:30 pm. I came back to the hotel after dinner, and the music was indeed off by 11:30.
I arrived at this hotel at about 9pm one night, and checked into my room on the first floor. I had asked for a quiet room and found that I had been placed directly above the bar and that there was loud bass music pumping through the floor. I asked to be moved, but was told that the hotel was full and that the music would be finished by 11:30 pm. I came back to the hotel after dinner, and the music was indeed off by 11:30. My room was on the “America” floor, decorated in the style of the 1960s. No doubt the hotel designer would call this a “theme”, I would call it a gimmick, and not a very pleasant one. Lots of clashing pink and orange. The whole effect was like sleeping in my sister’s bedroom when she was a teenager. The room was also pretty small. On my second night I was in my room by about ten o’clock, there was no music and I was looking forward to an early night. I had noticed a few funny looking characters hanging round the lobby, including two tough-looking guys in black polo necks and black leather jackets, one tall and one short. At about ten thirty the music started, far louder than before. At eleven thirty it was even louder and it was impossible to sleep. At midnight I went down to the lobby to get the music stopped or to get moved. The duty receptionist assured me that the hotel was absolutely full and that the noise could not be stopped. I asked to see the manager and she asked me to sit and wait. While I was doing so I noticed the larger black-leather guy talking to another customer in a somewhat threatening manner, leaning over him in his seat and making aggressive gestures. After five minutes the manager hadn’t turned up so I asked another member of staff to get him. While I was doing this the black leather guy walked up to me and asked me, quite pleasantly, what was the problem. I told him that it was the noise from the bar, which I had been told would be over by eleven thirty. It was still going after midnight, I couldn’t sleep and I wanted the music stopped or to be moved to a quiet room, as I had been originally promised. He laughed out loud and told me that the music would not finish before 2am and that the hotel was full so I couldn’t move. I asked him if hew worked for the hotel and he told me that he was the head of security. I told him, pleasantly but firmly, that I was a paying customer trying to sleep in a hotel bedroom after midnight. I had asked for and been promised a quiet room, and that was what I wanted. Suddenly I found myself backed-up against the wall, with tall-black-leather’s face an inch from mine, fingers being thrust at me and “va t’enculer” being shouted at me. I just stood my ground and after a minute or so short-black-leather managed to drag tall-black-leather away. I asked for the guy’s name but I was told “il n’a pas de nom”. Somewhat flustered I couldn’t see anything to do but to return to my room. Five minutes later the phone rang. It was the manager, apologising profusely for the conduct of his Head of Security and offering me an empty room on the fifth floor. So they had been lying about the hotel being full. Apparently more than one guest had complained about the noise and they had to move a number of people. The new room was quiet, although I had lost a couple of hours sleep. It was on the “Asian” floor, decorated in a Japanese style with a Buddha above the bed. The design was quite restful but the room was even smaller than the first one, and badly laid out. The wardrobe was not near enough to the window to get any natural light, but the electric lights were situated so that they didn’t illuminate it either. The bathroom doors (mock Japanese paper doors) folded outwards in such a way that you couldn’t reach the bathroom light switch without being a contortionist. Even without the threatening and violent evening atmosphere in the lobby, this is not a four star luxury hotel. A gimmicky two star flop house, perhaps. Taking into account the attitude of the staff, ranging from indifferent to violent, this is just a sleazy back-street night club with some tastelessly decorated and rather small rooms above. Avoid like the plague.
I stayed here with my spouse in August 2006 for four nights. We found the decor to be totally hilarious (you really have to go in with a sense in humour and take their design approach that way). We stayed on the Europe floor for the first two nights, then switched to Africa for the last two nights just for fun. While the decor was fun and an interesting idea, it is ultimately one of the reasons I wouldn't go back. The textiles used together with the colours end up making the rooms feel, well, a little grimey to be honest. For what you'll pay, it feels a little too much like staying at a university kid's bohemian apartment. The public areas are similar. fun, but a bit dark and a bit over-the-top by your third or fourth day there. It is a great experience though for one time. The location is very good - set back from the beack and just off the croisette, if perhaps a little too east for my liking (Cannes is small, but I usually stay nearer the old town), and just five minutes (max) from the beach. The rooftop pool is small but quite charming - very romantic. Something to note is that while the 3.14 beach is one of my favorites among the private beaches in Cannes, you will have to pay 20euro each per day, and there is no discount for hotel guests. It's just the way it is folks. It's Cannes. For food though, there are so many great options out of the hotel that I will always recommend explorations over the hotel restaurant in this town (save for few exceptions - this hotel's restaurant not being one).
We have just returned from eleven nights in the south of france to which we spent 7 nights at the 3.14 in cannes. The first impresion of the hotel was quite good with a very modern reception but very different. When we were shown to our room level 2 afrique (each floor has a different theme to it being continents). This level is very dark and sometimes quite difficult to see. Also the lift has flashing lights on the roof which is a bit tacky. Now to the room when we first entered the room we noticed several stains on the brown carpet and also a large cigarette burn. There was also a burn on the bathroom door. These are all things you don't expect to see in a four star hotel. Also the balcony looked onto a brick wall which isn't the best of views. When we informed reception they sayed they were fully booked and there was nothing they could do.Also the pool area is quite small so you have to be up early to get a sun lounger. Then on one occasion there were no towels available at the pool as someone in the laundry forgot to wash them.My overall opinion of the hotel is it should never be a four star hotel and the rooms could do with some renovation. Also your room is not cleaned to very late in the afternoon. The one good thing is the singer in the bar who is fantastic.
This Hotel is really incredible. It is absolutely concept as a machine to steel money from the visitors and make money for the owners! But the problem is not about the money at all!If you probably visit Cannes you don't want to have a "saving money vacation", the real big problem is that place is abslotely ------ up! i just leave the decor, it is not my cup of tea endeed, but you know, taste is taste.....anyway if I have to define it I would say that its style want be different just because it must be different without any concept behind or any coerence between the thousends kitchs things placed all over around mixed together which make you fell like to be onto Bordello with any style... The massive problem is that those people do not absolutely know the meaning of Art of Hospitality. All the young and non-expert staff seems to be there not for working but as part of a window's shop, than bored and very badly trained! If you ask for a suggestion about restaurants or things to do in Cannes they won't be able to help you anyway and them english is very poor. If you have any problem the Manager is never there (probably busy getting tanned on the beach) and than you have to explain the matter to these guys who must be very frustrated and feed up finding themself managing a load of complainse every day! The room's size is anacettable and the bathroom is like a closet. The chambermaids sometimes forget to clean the room becuase they are all the day busy chatting and making confusion on the corridor (lukcy if they place in front of your door while you sleep!!!). For 2 hours of Internet connection we have been charged of 30 euro!....of course only because we had our own pc otherwise we needed to go pilgriming and pick the closest connection in the Town! The beach is funny becuase it would be considerated a cool place but is full of very arrogant people and very laud childers who make the beach looks like a market on the street. Very expensive to get a sun bed cause it will cost you 15 euro and the beach close at 6 pm but they start to remove things at half past five....even your peronal staff you leave the place for a while. The roof pool is the top! They covered a regular swimming pool with some very plastic looking rocks which actually are in very light plastic!Very interesting if I booked in Eurodisney, but not for a "want to be Luxury Hotel." I have seen with my eyes my unhappy people complaining at the terrible looking desk where you must screen becuase of the screening parrots located located behind the desk...doesn't matter if everyone hate them for the noise and the stink!THEY ARE COOL AND NICE ALL RIGHT?!?? I have been told that the owner of this hotel belongs even a Casino or more than one in Cannes.....my question is: why they don't keeping managing Casinos?? I would finish my speach saying that this is not a cool place at all, is not stylish and is very taky and heavy. According to my experience there in no reason to stay in this place unless you don't want to break up with your partner for good!.... If you will ever visit Cannes stay definately somewhere else for the same money you can get much more in terms of Service, Space, Kindness, Professionality and Respect. This is a typical place which attract youngs and insicure people who belive to be cool....don't permit this people to have your money through a beautiful web site which doesn't say the truth!. I am young (under 30) and I will never ever go back there!
Stayed here for 4 days with my wife as a sort of time delayed honeymoon. All the floors are named for continents and we ended up on 'Asia'. The decor was nice but the room small, even for Europe, though the bathroom was very nice and well appointed. Having never stayed in Cannes before, we were mislead by the 'private beach' claim; I now know no hotels in Cannes are on the beach but instead have small areas staked out on the sand with restaurants/ sun chairs. The hotel's website photos would lead you to believe that the pool looks directly on to the Med and is maybe 50 feet away from the sand. Well thats a kind of forced perspective photographic trick. They really shouldn't bother misleading you, however, as the pool is magnificent, 7 stories up with a nice, not too pricey bar and a jacuzzi with unimpeded water views. Would absolutely stay here again but would make sure I upgraded to one of the rooms at the further end of the hallways for a better view. I don't know why the hotel is so misleading with the information they provide. My wife and I felt angry for being mislead for the first day and didn't really settle in till we realized how nice the place really was, even if it was different from what we'd thought. Outstanding service.
The first thing I tought when I was arrived in 3.14 Hotel is " Is it a joke?" not for the kitsch design but becouse their valet-man told me "the parking is complete we dont' have space for your car". Actually I have a rate including the parking. But it was'nt a joke and after 20 minutes of waiting and the first discussion with the concierge i finally parked the car. After that I waited 2 hours for the room becouse at 3.14 you can check in after the 3.00pm. Like every youth hostel in the world... After that, we arrived at our room at the asia floor. The room was'nt enough large to contain, me, my partner and our luggage. The toilet looks like a telephone cabin and the wardrobe is so little that we can't put the luggage in. We ask to move in another room. Aftera long discussion, they also told us that a lot of guest are unhappy for the room, we move in another one at europe floor. I have to admit that the style of this floor is very original and surprising. When we arrived in our new room we saw a wonderful welcome kit with a lot of candies and a bag with some presents inside. But it was just another joke becouse after 2 minutes a guy came in our room and told us that the welcome was'nt for us but for another clients!! And he took back the bag with presents and left the candies just becouse we already ate them. We were schocked. Then... Every time we had asked information at the concierge thay are bored and unkind. Always in the hall you can hear others guest disappointed about the hotel. For an internet connection i spent 30 euros! They don't have free internet!!!! For all my stayng the room at the 6.00pm was undone. And they provide to clean it only after that we ask to do it. At last but not least the best joke. On the beachWe paid 15 euros for a sun-bed. We went to do the bath in the see and when we came back we did'nt find our bed with all our stuff!!! Surprise!!! Is'it a joke??? We reinvent our clothes, towels, bags, pickpockets, mobile and i-podes on the chair of the restaurant, where everybody can take what they want. We had to dry ourself very fast and wear our clothes like homeless. All the people on the beach are still on their bed. The staff did'nt explaine us why they bring out our beds. We had a reservation for 4 nights. We resisted for 2. After the bed-joke we run away more far was possible. 3.14 is not a luxury hotel, expecially is not cool at all. From when a place kindless, unpolite, expensive and without any service is cool?
We have just returned from 4 nights at the hotel 3.14. The location is excellent, just steps from the main street of La Croisette, the hotel has its own beach bar and sunbeds. Beach is lovely, but if you don't want to pay the 15 Euros each for a sunbed on the beach, go up to the top floor of the hotel and sunbathe on the terrace. the pool is great and there is a cold jacuzzi which is delightful after getting hot in the sun. For us, the terrace was nearly empty and we had no problem at all in getting a sunbed. Food - the hotel food is good for dinner, we didn't have breakfast at 23 euros each, if you walk out to the La Croisette, there are small food stands which do great bites for breakfast. Watch out you aren't charged for breakfast though, it was on our bill but came off with no problems once we told them. Location is also great for the shopping streets. For reccommended dining - if you can afford it, its well worth going to the next door Carlton brasserie to eat, delicious food and the staff make you feel really special. This was our best meal wihtout a doubt. for more affordable meals, the hotel is good and just right on La Croisette there are two places, La Festival and another one (i forget its name - its got a blue theme). La Festival is another must for breakfast if you want a croissant and a coffee or hot chocolate. The next door restaurant isn't as good. No complaints for food, but they pack you into tables like terraced houses and you feel like the people next to you are watching you eat, so book a table thats on its own. The hotel bar is quite expensive for drinks near the beach, but you definately have to check it out, its really trendy. The whole hotel is funky. Its romantic and so cool. In response to the previous review, it is not tacky. Tghe only thing we had with this, is that we were in an Afrique room which is on the 2nd floor. The bar was hired out and we could hear faint boom-boom of the music beats until 2am. However, my fiance has trouble sleeping with that sort of noise but he slept fine so it wasnt that bad. This was only once, but if it will bother you, request a room on a higher floor. Asia is on the top floor. For transport, we had no idea what to expect for getting to and from Nice Airport. We got in a taxi and paid 85 Euros. We think we were ripped off, and on the return we decided to get a Mercedes car bookable from Conceirge and we paid 100 Euros to travel in style, much more worth it. The cleanliness of the hotel is good, but twice the maids forgot to replace our towels, we mentioned to reception and they were in the room within half an hour. thats service. All in all, we will definately be returning to this hotel. I think we'll try again to get a suite, because the pictures of them look amazing. Don't let the previous review put you off, it is affordable, in great location and its reallly funky!
I have stayed 3 nights there. The service was very bad. i wouldn't mind if i was in a 2 star hotel but this is supposed to have a good level of service. the design is absolutely tasteless, i was very disappointed. it looked good from the website though...i won;t go there again. i'll go back to the Carlton or the Martinez, at least it's top quality service.
Stayed at the Hotel Savoy, which is now the Hotel 3-14, June 2004. From the outside, looks like a fabulous hotel. Good location too just off the beach. However, from the time we arrived there, the staff made it seem like we were disturbing them. It was recently renovated and supposed to be finished in April, but when we got there, the pool on the top deck was still unusable, and they didn't even offer to do anything for us because of it. After complaining we did get free access to the beach, but normally this costs 15 euros each per day. Service at the beach was no better. They also tried to charge us 45 euros per day for breakfast we never had. As for the decor....I would not do justice to how bad it is in writing. Think pink velvet walls and red carpet, a bird cage that lit up in the room, etc. etc. This was the european floor??, and each floor as different themes. Really don't know what the designer was going for, but it is laughable. Only reason we stayed there was they threatened one night's stay being charged to our visa and the fact that it was clean and new. But believe me, please go elsewhere if you care at all about service.
Arriving at the Savoy Hotel, the first impression you get is that you've arrived at an Indian-themed hotel. The lobby is decked out in shades of fuschia and the staff is dressed the part. After checking in, you realize that the theme has to do only with the Mahatma restaurant located adjacent to the lobby. The Savoy is exceptionally well located, just one block off La Croisette. It is behind the famous Carlton Intercontinental, and the windows literally do overlook the back of the Carlton. No fear though, a little tilt of the head to the right and you're looking at the Mediterranean. Rooms are very comfortable, about average-sized for an American hotel which is large by European standards. The beds are nice and there are full bathrooms. Our room didn't have a safe, but there was one in the lobby. Having breakfast brought up to our room every morning was wonderful, with warm croissants, fruit and coffee. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay.
