My fiance and I stayed at the Alcyon Hotel in June 2007. We were very happy with the hotel. We would definately recommend the hotel. The hotel/rooms are lovely, fresh and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great price.

My wife and I stayed at the Alcyon in October, paying about €115 for a “comfort room with shower” on a B&B basis. The hotel is small with very limited facilities but is centrally located, only a short walk to the town centre and the seafront. There’s a nicely furnished and decorated lounge area for guests, and part of that ground floor room also serves as the pleasant breakfast room. There’s also a free internet terminal adjacent to the small reception desk. After 10pm, hotel entry is by using a keypad/code. Staff were friendly and most spoke a reasonable amount of English. Our “comfort room” was compact but nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. However, the bathroom was very small indeed, probably the smallest I‘ve experienced. Breakfast was adequate, if a little spartan. Eating out: Bistrot Ahizpak on the nearby Ave de Verdun has a short menu, but quality and value for money is excellent. 3 courses cost about €30-35 per head (wine & coffee extra) Café Miremont, Place Clemenceau, is good for lunch, serving good savoury dishes and salads, as well as a vast array of waist-expanding (but excellent) cakes & pastries. Not open at night. Bar Jean is probably the liveliest bar/restaurant in Biarritz. Go for the buzz, the food is just ok. We weren’t impressed, however, by a sampling of their tapas. Good pizza place under the arches on Rue Edouard, if you’re looking for something casual/affordable. Outside of peak season, there’s a very pleasant jazz session in the bar of the Plaza Hotel on Saturday nights.

Nice little Hotel in a great location of Biarritz, very central to everything, bars, restaurants beaches .... Room small but nicely decorated. Curtains light and do not block out light. Reception staff extremely helpful and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Free internet and WIFI all over the Hotel. Would definitely come back.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Alcyon Hotel in July/August 2007. We were very happy with the hotel and would say that it's the no 1 choice for staying in Biarritz for 3 reasons. - The hotel/rooms are lovely, fresh and clean!! - The staff is very friendly and helpful. - The price is unbeatable! Excellent value. Usually I want to have breakfast outside of the hotel when I travel but I recommend that you have it here since the breakfast is much better/fuller than a regular French breakfast at a café would be.

This is charming small, clean and friendly hotel. I agree with other reviews that is more like a B&B, but it is fab value for money. Internet use is free. Curtains are light, but there are shutters, don't think last reviewer discovered them!!!

This hotel is great value for money. It's located in the centre of Biarritz, really modern decor and spotlessly clean. The staff are really friendly and helpful. It's more like a Bed & Breakfast than a hotel, don't expect air con, hairdryer in room or room service but for €80per room per night it's money well spent!! Can be a little noisy at night and very light curtains so if you need blackout blinds to sleep it could be a problem. I found a few Mojitos helped me overcome this!

Having read the other reviews on Tripadvisor we booked the hotel for a long weekend, and it was definitely a great move! The decor is nice and modern, the staff were very friendly and helpful (the lady doing the cleaning deserves a mention!) and the Hotel is just a few minutes stroll from the shops, beach, restaurants etc. The cleaniness of the hotel is exceptional, and even though our bathroom was on the cramped side this hotel is exceptional value. Definitely recommended!

We booked the hotel for two nights after finding it on the web. We read your reviews before booking which helped a lot. The hotel is a small family run establishment and the staff were friendly and helpful. The decor is very nice, the rooms as per the hotel website. The room was very clean and well presented. Breakfast was quite adequate and we had lovely freshly squeezed orange juice. Overall our stay was very good. The hotel is situated right in the centre of Biarritz and a short walk from many restuarants and the beach. The only small downside was a little traffic noise as we had the windows open overnight. We parked in the multi storey car parks close by which cost 11 euros a day.

Spent a few days at the start of May at this hotel. Found the staff to be very friendly. The decor at the the hotel was in our opinion, modern & very chic. The bathroom and shower were spotless. The breakfast was adequate, as per continental standards. The location was excellent, as we were just a few minutes walk from the beach & restaurants. Loved the location. Hope to get another weekend break in the "Basque" region.

Spent a few days here at the Alcyon. Decided on this hotel from the Venere website the rooms looked very nice, the size and location of the hotel looked right. On arriving we were greeted by a pleasent young lady. The room and bathroom was just has the website depicted and very clean. The decor throughout the hotel was a mix of individual style and original features. The size and location was perfect for us, close to the centre and beach. The only complaint was the room had only net curtains and the light from the hotel sign and shop opposite shone through all night. We enjoyed our stay here, and Biarritz is very nice
