Stayed here for a stag do in August 2007. Got a triple room on the third floor which was bigger than I expected for the price we paid. The room itself was very basic with tv but no kettle or clock. The bathroom was very small but clean like the rest of the room. The shower did the job but the worst point was the quality of the toilet paper, you could strip enamel off radiators with this stuff so do take your own! The location is pretty good being only 5-10 minutes walk from the old town square on a reasonably quiet street, however the constant tick, tick, tick from a pedestrian crossing outside was like torture and you would need a fair few drinks to get over this! Breakfast was pretty decent and the hotel did arrange a free transfer from the airport, however the promised return transfer didn't materialise so be warned. For a drunken weekend with the lads or lasses you could easily do worse but for couples wanting to get the best out of this beautiful city try somewhere else

We booked through Athos Travel for 86 E per night in late August 2006. We had a triple and I was impressed with the size of the room. Not huge but bigger than I imagined for the price. No bathtub, just shower, as usual. Reception was very helpful. We were able to walk almost everywhere. Buffet breakfast was ok. At night and early in the morning it could get pretty noisy. I had to use my earplugs. That would be my only complaint.

visited this hotel for 3 nights in February, 2007. It's in a great location next to the main train station and within walking distance of all the main attractions. Excellent breakfast, clean room with no noise from the railway station next door. All the staff were friendly and helpful and well worth staying there.

Great value hotel, extremely close to the Old Town Square. Quiet and clean. Friendly staff. Highly recommended for the price.

I would not recommend this hotel, although it wasn't all bad. First the good - It's handy to the Cedaz mini bus stop and the main attractions, is clean, you get fresh towels everyday, the staff are fine and breakfast is included. Now for the bad - the room I had did not have windows that opened so it was very stuffy even with a fan (which thankfully they did provide), the bathroom was clean and tidy but had the world's smallest shower, and the coffee at breakfast was luke warm (otherwise breakfast was good). I also found that the room had a musty smell and was dark because it faced into a lightwell rather than out in to the street. If I go to Prague again I would pay more for a better hotel.

We stayed in the Hotel City Inn from September Fri 15th to September Mon 18th. On arrival it seemed ok. The main enterance is to the side of the hotel and you have to buzz the reception to let you in. The reception area is quite small and is on the 2nd floor as previoulsy mentioned. The lift also, was small but worked! The lady on reception was helpful and explained all we needed to know. There are handy little maps in reception free of charge, which point out the main attractions. Also, they sell bottled water, crisps and chocolate and there is a little hot drinks machine. We stayed in room 313 and it was ok. 2 single beds pushed together to make a double. We had a small TV attached up on the wall, although we never watched it. The bathroom was ok but had a very very small sink and the shower is on the small side too and the shower head isnt attached to anything, so when your showering you have to hold the shower head or leave it on the floor or in the handing position. The shower cubical leaked alittle so the shower/bath mat got completely soaked, so dont leave any clothes or other towels on the floor. Towels were clean everyday and the beds were made everday too. The duvet is folded over in half, so at first they look tiny - but there not really!! The bed itself was very comfy! There is no air con, so at night it was a little stuffy. The hotel is right next door to the train / tram station so you can hear them all night and all morning going past! And the best part is the beds move when the trams go past!! After a while it gets annoying! (But its not THAT bad) I had to leave the windows open as it was so stuffy, but sometimes the noise got abit too much and you just had to close the window! - For me that was the worse about the room - the noise outside and the squeeky floorboards!! One of the mornings, I think there must have been a car race or something as the noise of cars racing up and down the street was so loud - I didnt look out the window to see what was going on, but I heard others did in the rooms next door and said it was a vintage car race - and boy, can they make a noise at 8am!!!!!!! Breakfast was ok too. Basically its bread ( the sweet bread is very nice - I could have eaten that all day), cheese, ham, sausage, orange jucice, coffee or tea - and as much as you want. It was basic but ok. Reception is 24hr so you just have to take your card for the room with you and when you want to come back in, you buzz the reception and they let you in - they have a camera right above the door. The only thing I would say is when you arrived at the airport get the yellow AAA taxi - they took us from the airport straight to the hotel for 520 CZK - on the way back the hotel arrange for the taxi and we were stung for 750 CZK or so - so watch those taxi drivers - I'd ask for price first and ALWAYS take the address of the hotel with you!!! Beer and food is cheap enough if you stay out of the main old town square and from the Charles Bridge area. We found 2 lovely places to eat - one near the old town square, just off down a side street - it was something like the blue boar? I cant really remember. The second was the other side of the Charles Bridge - just up from Jo's bar - now that was lovely food! Again, cant remember the name :o( We found 2 Irish pubs and they were a great laugh. We also had a few drinks in a pub called Giovani's (or something like that) again up a side street from the old town sqaure. Anyway I will stop going on, but I went with 13 people and we all had a great time. If I was going back to Prauge I would stay in the Hotel City Inn - but if I was going back on a "romantic" break I think I would stay somewhere slightly more expensive and maybe further out of town and get the taxi in. But at the end of the day, I wanted somewhere safe, warm and clean - and the Hotel City Inn was fine for me. Oh, I also found Prauge city was clean and tidy - and the old cobbled streets were brillant.

After I had read some of the reviews about the City Inn I was expecting a graffiti daubed hotel with roaches climbing the wall and surly staff that had ash dangling from smoking cigarettes. What I actually got was a basic, clean hotel in need of a paint job but not the horrors expected by some of the reviews. This hotel is quite cheap, in a reasonable area close to trams/metros/ main tourist sites. On approaching the hotel you go through the latest roadwork’s that Prague is undertaking to improve the transport network. After the initial encounter it only became a very slight inconvenience and did not detract from Prague. The hotel is just on the periphery of the regeneration and I expect this area to be cleaned up in the next few years but who knows. The hotel reception is on the 2nd floor but the lift always worked and was clean. The reception itself is quite small as are the public areas generally. The reception staff was polite and told us everything we needed to know about our stay. The room we had was a triple, and I was expecting it to be small and cramped with an extra bed thrown in, but it was large with a double and 2 singles and plenty of room to move about. The bathroom was small with a toilet, shower and washbasin. A TV was also in the room. The sheets were clean and free form tears or stains. The carpet had a stain on it but who sleeps on the floor! It was room 102 if you are interested. The view from the window was not the best but we wanted to look at the sights not the view from the hotel. The breakfast was plentiful if not a bit boring as it was the same everyday (3 days). Times are rigid 07.00-10.00. There was plenty of food but not choice, and if you like ham, cheese, bratwurst, bread rolls, brioche and as much tea or coffee as you wanted you where in heaven. The towels were changed everyday and the rooms made up well by a pleasant, efficient staff. A couple of places to recommend to eat and drink were the Hybernia café, great portions, nice atmosphere, pleasant waiters and plenty of food. It is also known as the Needle Café, which is Czech for Skewers. Try the Home made bean soup in a loaf as a starter and the chicken in Cheese Batter for main. About £5 for both. The beer was only CK30 for 0.5l; (70p) for Urquell. Another pub was the Koala which is an Irish/Oz theme but good food and good beers and plenty of choice, just round the corner from Hybernska, Senovazna Street, second left from the hotel. For a really cheap meal and beer go to the XXX bar which is by the Jindrisska Tower. It is not a sex club but a bar that serves meals and is very cheap and frequented by locals. Possibly named after the Vin Diesel movie of the same name. A couple of other points, if you are traveling in a group of 4 then use the Smart Shuttle service from the airport, drops you off at your hotel. This cost K440 but if you book your return then you get it for K400. Worked out about £21 return for the 4 of us. The kiosk to book was by the exit doors in arrivals. We went on a few walkabouts and used the trams and metro which are very cheap and very quick but not friendly for disabled visitors, but improving. Make sure you get a day pass or a 3 day before getting on the transport system otherwise you could get a big fine for not having a ticket. We went on 1 organised trip and that was the boat trip on the river. What a disappointment, it went all of ¼ mile and took an hour. Most of the time was spent turning round. Give it a miss.

The marketing photos look ok but when we arrived to the graffitti ridden walls of the hotel we were wary. But not wanting to judge a book by its cover we checked in. We had originally booked another hotel but the agency could not fit us in so put us in the Hotel City Inn. When we went into our room we were very disappointed. The wooden floor tho carpeted was completely uneven as was the floor next door as we could hear them walking about. No chance of getting up for the loo in the night - you would disturb your partner and next door! The bath towels smelt awful and left the smell on you after drying your hands-bit like a wet dishcloth. We must have been in the attic room as we had the tiniest window which I had to stand on tiptoes to be able to look out of it. Therefore the room was very dark. The beds very were basic and the matresses had seen far better days, although the pillows were nice and big. The bathroom was tiny and the floor was awash after a shower. We are not finnicky travellers but have stayed in better accommodation in Turkey- and thats basic!! We went hotel hunting the night we arrived and found another hotel for only a FEW MORE EUROS and was 4* called the Modra Ruze (Blue Rose)-Recommend it. We checked out of the City Inn the next morning. The hotel is 3* but someone has pullled of one and a half of the 3 star stickers from the front door and I would agree its 1 and a half*. More hostel than hotel. And thats an expensive price for a hostel!! If you're just looking for a bed for the night it might be okay but probably cheaper and same standard if you book into a hostel. Thats how we felt.

Im a believer that you get what you pay for and this is certaionly a value for money hotel Nothing flash but good clean accomadation in a location afew minutes walk from the powder tower. We had five double rooms basic but very clean with sat tv, decent bathroom with shower and it was an ideal place to lay your weary head. Breakfast was ok your standard bread jam ham an cheese.

While definitely not a 3-star by U.S. standards, this hotel isn't bad considering its price (roughly $80/day for a single room) and location. The latter - within a 5-minute walk from the train station and very close to the historic centre - can hardly be beaten. City Inn was relatively clean and the receptionists, while not overly friendly, knew their jobs. Old furniture and no views from the window - not unexpected of a low-budget hotel. The free breakfast was a mixture of U.S. and European types - breads, cereal, cheeses and some cold meat. Again, nothing to brag about but tolerable. I would consider staying there again but would gladly spend $20-30 more (Priceline?) for more luxurious accommodations.

We had enjoyed the Hotel till the last day when they made up damages in the hotel and tried to charge us for them - they claimed we had broken the electric door locking mechanism - how could we do that by just putting a card in it? They are rude and unhelpful and just after your money - do not risk it!

The Hotel City Inn is a decent hotel, only ten minutes walk from The Old Town Square and only two minutes walk from the spectacular Obecni Dum. It's worth searching the internet for a good deal as we paid 15 Euros equivalent, less than the rack price. The room we had was adequate, as was the WC/Shower room, not like that described by a previous reviewer. The first receptionist was a bit frosty, but all the others were fine. The breakfast was bland, apart from the coffee which was the worst I've tasted in living memory. If we had stayed for more than 3 nights, we would have breakfasted in one of the many places advertising cheap and presumeably tastier starts to the day. The "Casino" under the hotel, off the station foyer, served the cheapest beer we had in Prague, a mere 16 Krowns for a pint (less than 40p UK) , but it was a bit of a dive, mainly inhabited by folk you wouldn't normally swant to share a space with. So, if you want a relatively cheap, central and adequate hotel in Prague, the City Inn may fit the bill. If you're looking for a particularly interesting and educational, but inevitably disturbing day trip from Prague, we would highly recommend Terazin, the "model" Jewish Ghetto created by the Nazis, with the sadly convenient Concentration Camp situated djacently. The bus station is not far from the hotel, but watch out as you may be crammed like sardines and deposited at a different station on the way back, insignificant as this is compared to the suffering you learned of at Terazin.

We have stayed here 3 times in the last 3 years and we keep going back because of it's central location and value for money. The rooms are large and clean and the bathrooms are adequately sized. Buffet breakfast is a typical continental breakfast, with frankfurters and there always seems to be plenty available. The staff, as with all service staff in Prague, are not overly friendly, but were helpful providing us with maps and advice when asked. The only thing the hotel lacks is a bar, but they do have a beer fridge in the reception area ! Overall, we'll be going back this year...

We found the city inn a friendly , comfortable and value for money hotel situated within walking distance of all prague' sights and 1 minute from a metro station . The approch to the hotel is bit off putting you climb cold dismal stairs to get to 2nd floor reception but once there hotel is very clean and comfortable with very friendly helpful staff who speak english . The room we had was a triple room which was large room ( not a twin with 3 beds squashed in! ) centrally heated very hot ( too hot at times!) with a small but adequate bathroom . The breakfast room was modern & clean serving a very nice breakfast .The hotel offers a 24 hr reception , left luggage locker , money changing facilities and safe deposit box! We would stay there again!!!!

We stayed in the City Inn for 3 nights in October 2003. I would hesitate to recommend it as good value and would prefer to check out more options the next time we go to Prague (who knows, it might seem like paradise in comparison?). We booked on the Internet and paid 37euro per person per night for bed and breakfast. Taxi from the airport cost 650crowns. The hotel reception is sited on the second floor, and you need to ring the bell for admittance. There is a lift. The reception staff spoke english but were not very communicative. The reception area has a tea/coffee machine and you can buy beer, drinks, crisps and chocolates there. The hotel is located beside a railway station, but we couldn't hear any choo choo sounds. The main advantages of the hotel were its location - short walking distance to everywhere and near trams and metro. The street is fairly deserted and not very attractive. There is a lot of construction and reconstruction going on in Prague so this may have improved. The breakfast was the normal buffet with boiled eggs (if you get there in time), cold ham, cheese, and frankfurters. You're thrown out of the breakfast room in no uncertain terms after 10am, even though breakfast is supposed to be served between 7 and 10. The room we were in was fairly spacious, but I've never seen anything like the bathroom. The shower hose was sited on the wall between the loo and the sink (a distance of about 18 inches). There was no shower tray and the whole bathroom was no bigger than a shower compartment. The only way to have a shower was to spray the entire compartment which meant everything - towels, clothes, toilet paper, toilet bags would get wet, not just you. As for the next person in to use the sopping wet compartment... The sound insulation in the room wasn't great. Either the beams in the ceiling were expanding and cracking all night or there was someone up there pacing up and down. We had a lovely dinner in the Cafe Hibernia on the same street - don't be put off by the large size of the dining room. The food was great - even if they insist on serving it too quickly - a custom in a lot of other restaurants. Prague is a wonderful city to wander around it - always something around every corner. We were warned about pickpockets but didn't come across any problems ourselves. Enjoy.

I would not advise anyone to stay here. The service is the worst I have received anywhere!! I was pickpocketed at midnight right outside the hotel and had my phone and wallet stolen. When I reported this to the receptionist she was not interested. I asked for my passport and spare cash out of the safe and she refused to give them to me because I did not have a safe card even though I explained it had been stolen because it was in my wallet. I then tried to use the phone in my room to cancel my cards and phone but it was disconnected. I reported this to the receptionist but she wasn't interested and told me it wasn't her problem. She didn't even allow me to use the reception phone to make any calls.

Stayed here for three days. Three of us shared a room. The room we had was a good size, overlooked the main road but was not noisy, hotel was very clean, had a great shower and nice fluffy towels were provided. The lift made a very strange sound though.... a bit creepy! Also we tried the breakfast one day but it was very basic and didn't really enjoy it so we ate out for breakfast after that. If I return to Prague I would definitely stay here again due it being very reasonably priced but mainly due to it's location 10 mins to the main square in the old town.
