RECOMMENDED. As others have noted, this hotel in an excellent location for all things tourist. Modern mall is next door for any shopping needs. Prague is generally a safe city at all hours. This is an older property but in general good working order. Staff were quite friendly and helpful. Rooms facing the street may have noise from tram (which runs periodically thru the night). Rooms on the back side are dead quiet (our room). Rooms are sparse but functional, fairly large. Free and speedy wi-fi on all floors. Bedding was ok, nothing special, but clean and we slept well. Lighting in room marginal, but acceptable. Bathroom was newly renovated and all tile. Breakfast (incl’d in our rate) was only OK, some things offered were just plain yuck, but for cereal, coffee and a piece of toast – fine. Gay friendly. Note: check-out time is 10 a.m., hotel also has traditional keys for room, so lock up your valuables. Overall, this is a solid 3* offering and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
My buddy and I stayed here for four nights from May 16th - May 20th. Overall the hotel was a good choice. The people at the front desk were very knowledgeable and very courteous on all shifts. They go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant experience. A plus as well, very close to all the attractions and the tram and metro.
My husband and I just returned from 4 nights at Hotel Atlantic. The hotel was in a good location next to all major attractions and public transportation. Everywhere is walkable and can be reached by metro and/or tram. They use the old lock and key system that you have to carry around a big bulky key for the room and the safe. The twin room we got was sleepable but no air conditioner. We kept the window open all day and all night. Every night the restaurant/pub (Metropol) across the street had loud music but we were so tired from the long day of sight seeing, we were able to fall asleep without too much trouble. The breakfast was okay and one morning, the food ran out and they didn't provide anymore for late comers. Don't forget to bring your own shampoo, conditioner, soap and an alarm clock. When traveling to/from the airport, use the Czech Airline airport transportation in front of the Hilton hotel 2 blocks away. It's 120 Kc per person whereas the hotel charges 680 Kc. Overall, if you are looking to spend some time in the hotel, stay somewhere else with better amenities but for reasonable and affordable hotel that you can sleep after a long day of sight seeing, then this hotel will be good enough.
The Hotel was well situated. The room was big for European standards. It was clean and has a modern bathroom. The staff was very helpful and friendly and always eager to help. The breakfast buffet was extensive.
I booked this last minute online at a great rate of $150 US per night. The hotel is right on the edge of old town so it's only a couple minutes from the city center/clock. The metro takes you right next to the hotel. We came in to the Praha Holesovice train station and jumped right on the metro to go to the hotel. Just take the C line to Florenc and then the B line to the Namesti Republicky. It is just minutes away. It's very easy to navigate. There is a gigantic 6 story mall called the Paladium right next door to the hotel. Tons of places to eat and lots of shopping. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but it's great inside. It's VERY clean. Even the downstairs bathrooms off of the bar area are clean; probably the cleanest public restrooms I've seen in all of Europe. The room is great! We booked a triple and the room is big and very clean. There is a free wall safe in the room. Free wireless internet in our room and even a computer downstairs with free internet. The bathroom was so clean that it smelled of bleach. There are big windows that open all the way up and overlook the street. The beds are okay, not the most comfortable but then again I'm spoiled with my memory foam mattress at home so I never like hotel beds. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a nice, clean place to stay that is just a few minutes from the old town square.
Two friends and I booked the hotel directly and corresponded via e-mail. This was the beginning of a great trip. The sales manager, Lenka, responded immediately giving us a reasonable rate and thereafter answering all our questions. Upon our arrival the staff was very friendly and made sure we were satisfied with our rooms. The rooms were spacious and modern. During our stay they aided us in many ways from giving directions to recommending good restaurants. The hotel has a complimentary breakfast buffet every morning and is in a central location within walking distance to almost all attractions and the train station. If we decide to visit Prague again we will definitely stay at the Hotel Atlantic. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant and affordable stay in this beautiful city. My thanks to everyone there....Larry
Great Central Location. Spacious Clean Room, Friendly Staff. Just 10 minutes walk distance from the central clock Square. The breakfast is great. I would go there again.
I stayed here in feb earlier this year, we found it to be a great hotel in a great location. When we arrived at the airport we got the shuttle which we thought would take us to Nemesti Republiky, which was only about 2 mins walk from our hotel, however when we got in the driver asked where we were going and took us to the door of our hotel for no extra charge, they also give you a discount if you use them to get back to the hotel, we did this and they collected us from the hotel no problems. Check in was fine although they had to take our passport numbers for security, i guess they do this in a lot of hotels though. There are 2 lifts up to the rooms so you dont have to take the stairs. Our room was on the 3rd floor and at the back of the hotel, we didnt have a great view but there was no traffic noise at night, so would recommend asking to get a room at the back if you're a light sleeper. Our room was HUGE, with a corrider leading to the bathroom and also the bedroom. We had two double sofas a st of table and chairs, our double bed and loads of wardrobes. Ive never stayed in a hotel room so big, and I've stayed at loads of hotels. The beds were'nt that comfy though. The shower was great, very hot. We found the staff to be very polite and helpfull. Breakfast was OK, plenty to choose from, just different to what you'd get in england, but then i guess that's the whole point of going to a different country. There was bread, cheese, cerals, pasta, meat, poatoes, egg, fruit etc. The hotels location was fantastic, about a 5-10 min walk from old town square and Wencelas Square, there is also great shopping too. There was a HUGE shopping mall about 1 min from the hotel, its on 4 or 5 floors and is great for some reatil therapy at the end of the day, also on the way to Wencelas square there are some great shops. We walked everywhere in Prage and found it all the be relatively close to each other, it's quite a small city compared to others I've been to. Would recommend going up Petrin hill for some great views over Prague, we also went up the mini Eiffel tower but you really need a head for heights to do this. There are tour buses that go around all the main sights so if your less moblie this could always be an option. We had a great stay in Prague and we would love to go back one day. We would definitley consider the Atlantic again.
Lovely, clean bright hotel within easy walking distance of the city sights. Friendly helpfulEnglish spaking staff. Clean, comfortable rooms at a very reasonable price. Thoroughly recommended.
We stayed here last week and were really happy with it. It was clean and comfy, and the room was large and warm - which was just as well cos it was really cold out! The bathroom was relatively new and the shower was very good. The location was fantastic - about 5-10 mins walk to the Old Town Square. I've read elsewhere complaints about the breakfast. Now it's true it's not an English breakfast but it was a perfectly good continental breakfast. The staff all spoke English and were helpful and polite. The only reasons for not giving it a straight 5/5: it's a little faded round the edges, there was no kettle in the room and it was a little noisy from the trams outside. But these are minor quibbles and I wouldn't hesistate to recommend this to anyone looking for basic, pleasant accommodation in an excellent location.
We booked this hotel due to its good location and reasonable price. This was our main aim on our short break to Prague. The hotel met all our expectations. Location - Couldn't have asked for a better location. It is situated approximately 5-10 minute walk to Wencelsas Square, 5-8 minute walk to The Old Town Square, 10 -12 minute walk to the foot of Charles Bridge and 20 - 25 minute walk to the Castle on the other side of the river. We never needed to use public transport once except to get to and from the airport. Rooms - Before our arrival I emailed the hotel to mention that it would be our anniversary during our stay. The hotel were more than accomodating with our requests. I requested a non smoking double room. Also due to previous reviews on here I asked for a quiet room away from the road noise. On arrival we were given the key to room 301. It was a large room with 2 double sofa beds as well as a double bed (2 single matresses and quilts on a double bed frame!) and 3 double wardrobes! It was a room at the end of the hotel and so was extremelly quiet. Also the hotel provided us with a bowl of fresh fruit to welcome us on our anniversary. We thought that this was a lovely gesture. We were more than impressed. All rooms have hairdryers, safe, TV and a phone. Breakfast - At breakfast there is a choice between cereals, toast, yoghurts, fruit, and some hot food as well such as eggs and bacon. During our stay there was no english breakfast tea. It was all herbal so if you must have a cup of tea before you venture out I recommend you take your own tea bags. Coffee and fruit juice are readily available. The breakfast room is at it's busiest between 9:30 and 10. So it does pay to arrive slightly early to make sure you can get a table. Staff - The reception staff were very heplful, friendly and efficient. Check in is from 2pm and check out is at 10am. However we arrived at the hotel about 11:30 and within an hour our room was ready for us to check in to. They do have the facility to store your luggage for you at no extra charge if you room is not ready. We were also provided with a map of Prague and a booklet with some of the local restaurants in. Area around the hotel - There is a main road which runs out side the hotel so it is probably best to ask for a quiet room. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within the vicinity. The Needle House is about 5 minute walk from the hotel. They offer various types of dishes including local specialities. It is average cost with a friendly atmosphere and a good standard of food quality. Airport Transfers - We used a company called CEDAZ which are located at exit E in the arrivals hall. They offer two types of service. 1 - Transfer by minibus from the airport to your hotel door. For 1-4 people this costs 480 crowns per journey. On the return you call them the day before your departure to arrange a pick up from your hotel. The return journey is priced at 399 crowns for 1-4 people. 2 - They also offer a regular shuttle bus which runs every 30 minutes from 6am to 9pm. This costs 120 crowns per person each way. It drops and pick you at V Celnici Street which is the next street along to the Atlantic and takes about 5 minutes to walk to the hotel. Of course the trams and metro are also an option but in my opinion when you have luggage you just want the easiest option. All in all, we really enjoyed Prague. It is a beautiful city no matter what time of the year you visit. We would definately consider returning to Prague and if we did we would stay at the Atlantic!
The hotel is in a great location and the price was great too. I got it for 150 euro for 3 nights including breakfast. I booked through superbreak.com. Its only 5 mins walk from the old town and really close to all the shops and main areas. Got Breakfast one of the mornings but didnt bother going again as it wasnt great. Brilliant location for the cedaz bus from the airport. only costs 120 K (5 euro) and leaves you very close to the hotel. Would definitely recommend it the hotel. Great bargain.
We stayed here for four nights in February for the total bargain price of £150 for a double room for 4 nights including breakfast. We booked it through expedia and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was for the money. The location was fantastic - couldn't have been better. Breakfast wasn't great - we went down on the first morning but weren't impressed so didn't have breakfast there any other morning. The rooms were spotlessly clean - no complaints there. My only complaint about the hotel was that our room was right beside an extractor fan from the kitchen and every morning if the window was open we were greeted with the smell of breakfast cooking which wasn't very nice. All in all a total bargain price for a hotel with a fantastic location. The shopping centre the Palladium is right next door with seven floors of shops, restaurants, cafes etc. Would recommend a friend to stay here.
This is my second time at the Hotel Atlantic. I would recomended this hotel as it is very central to all the attractions and good transport links. The hotel is clean that staff are polite and very helpful. I would book a room at the back of the hotel as the tram runs right in front. The breakfast is free and although not great you will be able to find something It would be good if the hotel provided Tea/Coffee in the room From the Airport we took a shuttel bus CHZ120 which stops at Namesti Republiky which is about 500yds from the hotel . You can catch the bus fro the airport its near Exit "E" and called CEDAZ . A good resturant is "The Needle House" a short walk from the hotel, try the lamb needle. (www.hybernia.cz) The metro is 500 yds from the hotel CHZ330 buys you a 3 day pass to use on the trams and metro good value
Stayed at the Atlantic hotel with my girlfriend for 3 nights. And it was just fantastic. The location of the hotel is great, just few meters from the gigantic shoppingcenter Palladium! And just a short walk to all the other atractions in Prague! The rooms were very big and with a renovated bathroom. The breakfast at the hotel was also very good, and the staff very friendly! We are both sure that we will stay there next time we visit Prague!
Good comfortable hotel. Quite basic but centrally located. Right near the Powder Tower and within walking distance of everything (for those whole enjoy walking!). Perfect place for drop off and pick up for the Cedez mini buses from the airport, which were cheap and reliable. Namesti Repub., was right around the corner, which is where the mini bus goes from. Would recommend to anyone for basic needs.
Very pleased with this property. Location was perfect, rooms were nice (not much view though) Breakfast was great, staff very helpful (as just about everyone we met in Prague). Free internet was a nice plus. We were able to see just about everything we needed to see in this city by walking. I absolutely recommend this hotel for its value and location.
Atlantic hotel is well situated, just outside the old town. The room was quite large (we've ordered a triple), very simple furnished (but ok) and with a nice modern bathroom. Both the bedroom and bathroom were very clean. Things I didn't like about Atlantic: 1) Service: although effective, people don't really put on a friendly face. Actually they just look angry most of the time. 2) Breakfast: not really tasteful
We chose Hotel Atlantic because it was highly rated by our travel websites customers, and it was well-deserved. The location was great....easily within walking distance of Old Towne Square and the metro, and there was a wonderful bar across the street from the hotel, Dinitz, where we happily ended up extending our nights out listening to excellent bands and enjoying the crowds and the drinks. The hotel rooms are simple, but quiet and clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the hotel lounge bartender, Lucas, who was a wealth of information, funny, friendly, and a great bartender as well. Lots of good times were had in Hotel Atlantic's lounge. Everyone in our group agreed we would stay at this hotel again. Ask for a room toward the back of the hotel to make sure you avoid any street noise. That's what we did, and our rooms were quiet.
went to prague for a long weekend of drinking and night life, coupled with the site seeing through the day. was impressed with what we got at this hotel relative to price. it was cheap the rooms were extremely tidy and the hotel staff were always happy to help. there was internet available at reception anjd there was a bar too. there was cafe close by that sold tradiitonal czech food. the location of hs hotel was okay about a 15 minute walk into the town centre but not ideal. there was no problems with the rooms within the hotel although i was dissappointed there wasno't more facilities such as a gym and swimming pool, and the bar was extremely quite.
We didn't actually get to stay at the Atlantic, which we booked into via www.hotel.de. As with all hotels in Prague it seems, the Atlantic has a policy of over-booking and so we were moved to the Hotel U Klenotnika (a very nice hotel with a better location - see seperate review). Although we initially weren't very happy about being moved about the staff were very nice at this point and gave us some free sparking wine to apologise. However the problems began to arise with the hotel's administration of our move the next day when I remembered that I had booked a return transfer to the airport, through the hotel via e-mail. The driver had picked us up from the airport and taken me to the Atlantic when I arrived in Prague, but obviously having been moved hotels, he wasn't going to know to collect us from the U Klenotnika rather than the Atlantic on the return journey, and so I rang the Atlantic hotel to ask them to inform the taxi driver of the situation. Unfortunately, over the course of 3 very difficult phone calls, the Atlantic hotel denied all knowledge of the existence of my return transfer and told me that as far as they were concerned no one would be arriving to take us to the airport. We therefore booked another taxi through the U Klenotnika and were very annoyed. The next morning, just as we were about to leave, things got worse. The receptionist at the U Klenotnika informed us that we would have to pay for one night's stay with them and then go to the Atlantic and settle the remainder of the bill with them! The hotel Atlantic was 15 mins away from the U Klentotnika and we had already loaded our bags into the taxi to go to the airport. I refused to do this and gave the full amount to the U Klenotnika. Following this we then received a phone call from the Atlantic hotel receptionist who I had spoken to the previous day about the missing transfer, who told me that our taxi had in fact turned up at their hotel as booked and that we must now wait for him to pick us up at the U Klenotika. When I explained that we had already loaded our baggage into the replacement taxi we had ordered and couldn't wait any longer as we were late in leaving for the airport (due to the bill payment issue) the Atlantic receptionist became very stroppy indeed. In any event we did get to the airport on time and I am now looking at claiming my return transfer price back. However, given that the problems we experienced were solely the result of the hotel Atlantic's over-booking, they dealt with the whole situation badly and the experience has marred my impression of Prague.
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Atlantic for 2 nights during the last week in October 2007 and had a great stay in Prague. Prague is a great place to visit and this hotel helped to make our stay very enjoyable. We booked the hotel because of three things - the location, the good reviews on here and the price. Well, the location of the hotel is great - 1 minute walk to Nám?stí Republiky metro station, 5-10 mins walk from Old Town Square and about 15-20 mins from Charles Bridge. The price was great too - £60 per night from Lastminute. And the reviews were accurate as the hotel was pretty good as well We had a large, if plain looking room on the top floor (502). It was very quiet and had an OK view overlooking the back of the hotel. The bed appeared to be a double bed with a double mattress but in fact it was a double bed with two single mattresses on top. The 2 mattresses came apart very easily which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. The décor of the room was a bit dated but fine. But there were plenty of positives - the bathroom, and especially the shower, was great. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast was nice with plenty of choice (although the orange juice wasn't fresh orange, it was diluted orange squash which wasn't nice). The bar was nice and the barman was friendly but their white wines weren't great (we had a sauvignon blanc and a local Czech wine and they were awful). But to be fair when we drank at the bar we'd just got back from a fantastic meal at the restaurant next to the Franz Kafta museum where we drank some great NZ sauvignon blanc so perhaps the hotel wines paled into insignificance compared to this. But all of the negatives were outweighed by the price and location so I'd recommend this hotel if you want to stay in Prague.
My wife and I, and close friends (another couple), stayed at the Hotel Atlantic for our first (but certainly not last) visit to Prague in late Oct 07. To say that it was extremely enjoyable is truly an understatement. Front desk staff most helpful, our room large and quiet with nice, very warm bathroom. Also there's a nice bar in the hotel and good breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. The location is just right for the majority of Prague sight-seeing most people will do. Excellent value-for-money! Oct 22, 2007 KnudC, Copenhagen We spent five nights in Hotel Atlantic, a stay we enjoyed very much. The breakfest was great, the rooms - not looking onto the street - were comfortable, the location was in perfect distance to all well-known sights. Especially, we will emphazise the magnificant service we got from the always kind and helpful staff in the reception, represented by Katarina Valihrachova as the Front Office Manager. One among many favours they did to us was the following: On the Internet we had booked tickets for the National Theatre. Unfortunately, the tickets should be picked up before our arrival at Prague. We phoned Katarina, who arranged that the tickets were picked up and handed over to us at our arrival. With no doubt: 5,0 and our warmest recommendation.
This hotel has quite a bit going for it - nice rooms, excellent front desk personnel, free Internet access, a local bar, a local restaurant and fairly close proximity to both public transport and Wenceslas Square.
I stayed for 3 nights. The room was huge, with plenty of spoace to work. The staff were vey friendly and helpful. It represents excellent value for money, and I would definitely stay here again.
The Atlantic has been recently refurbished to a good standard, clean, comfortable and in a pleasant, convenient location off Namesti Republiky. The staff were most helpful when I had a query on a train ticket, happily phoning around for us until the question was resolved. Buffet breakfast has a comprehensive selection of food to satisfy all tastes. The corner shop nearby is handy for sweets, nibbles and bottles of water at just 9Kc (same as those sold in airport for 95Kc!)
We traveled to Prague with our 20 month old baby, and arrived at Hlavni Nadrazi train station. Hotel location is excellent. We could easily manage the luggage & the baby stroller the few blocks walk from the train station. From the hotel we walked to all the tourist sites over a 2 day period. At check-in, the reception service was excellent - they were expecting us from our expedia reservation & check-in was super quick. We took the elevator to our triple room with a portable crib for the baby. Everything was very clean, including the bathroom. The room was light and airy, and a good size that the baby could run around. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was included with our rate - the restaurant was on the ground floor at the hotel. The food selection was pretty straightforward, a selection of breads, meats, eggs, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, etc. For dinners we walked to some nearby trendy cafes & restaurants - delicious food at Celnice. Overall, we were delighted with our experience at Hotel Atlantic and would stay again & would recommend it to family & friends.
Excellent staff. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Car parking was convenient, close, and safe. Hotel is within 5 minute walk of main attractions in Prague. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Suggest going to breakfast early as the last hour has only remnants of food.
We visited Praug for a week this summer and stayed 7 nights at the Hotel Atlantic *** hotel in Praug, the hotel is locate in the heart of the Old town just next to Namest republiky square and within a 10 minutes walking distance of the The old town square. Also Withing walking distance of all major Praug historical sights and museums / shops and restaurants underground / railway and tram stations. We felt safe in the area and the hotel have shops and restaurants in the area and also other 3 , 4 and 5 star hotels. During our stay at Hotel Atlantic we received a fantastic service friendly staff, both in the reception (who helped us book a tour with discount) staff in the Bar and restaurant (Buffet Breakfast included) where also polite and friendly. Free Internet usage of the lobby PC and free wireless service for you Notebook. The room we had where nice and clean, in room safe (free of charge) , Free TV (Including CNN and BBC World) , Nice and clean bathroom with hair dryer and shower. If you are looking for a Small Charming hotel in the middle of Praug with fantastic friendly staff and a good value for money at a excellent location we recommend the Hotel Atlantic for your stay in Praug , we surly will stay here for our next visit.
I really wanted to take my boyfriend on a great city break and following the advice of a friend I decided on Prague. Having spent a long time searching the internet for good, budget hotels near the town centre I found the Atlantic. Before we went I emailed the hotel (on advice from another reviewer on Travel adviser) to request a top floor room and to ask about transfers. They were really helpful and friendly and arranged for our top floor room and a taxi at a fixed rate from the airport. When we arrived we found the staff to be very warm and welcoming and the room to be clean and tidy. We had everything we needed and the room wasn't too small. The bathroom was lovely, which I was more relieved about than my boyfriend and we were both suprised that the shower pressure was still really good on the top floor. The hotel is ideally located for exploring Prague, it is situated just down a road from Old Town Square. We cannot complain about the location at all as we were able to do all the major siteseeing by foot! If you have the time wander down to the river side (just up from the Charles Bridge) and jump on a boat up the river! A great way to get a different view of Prague. One of our favourite things about Prague was it's food!! We even found a great place that had a string quartet on our first night. There's also a great underground restaurant just up one of the side streets from Old Town Square (to the right of the church) We would also recommend the Jazz Lounge for a great night out and a trip to the Black Theatre - which had a dance/comic mime show on at the time. there are always food places wherever you go - so if you are wiling just take a walk and see what you find. We found a few great places tucked away so I'm sure there are many others. The only thing I would say about the hotel is that although they say breakfast is served until 9 make sure you get there by 8:30 otherwise you won't get any. As such we cannot comment on the breakfast as we never actually made it. On the last day the hotel also provided luggage storage when we checked out and arranged for a taxi to the airport. All in all we had a fabulous stay at the Atlantic Hotel and it was certainly value for money!! I would certainly recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again if I were to ever return to prague.
I just wanted to say I like this hotel, tho the breakfast was quite small, I've like to have more choices, I ate the same breakfast everyday, I'm not saying the breakfast was bad, but I've like to have more choices as told. I'll give this hotel an 4 'cause I really enjoyed the stay. Me and my boyfriend had a great stay at hotel Atlantic and in praha overall. maybe we'll come again someday ! - Karina,18, Norway.
It was my first time in Prague and I hope to return. The hotel was an excellent value. Rooms clean and the staff very helpful. You have to keep in mind they try hard to understand English, they will never say they do not fully understand. Reality is that they try very hard to help you if you are patient. I found the breakfast very good with a variety of food. The bar was a good place to start the night off. Right accross the road is an interesting jaz bar with live music ending at midnight. Drinks not too expensive. If you learn the subway and tram systems and venture away from the tourist area you will find dollar beer and home cooked food. Look for places that have a seperate English menue or non at all. All the pork and chicken dishes are great. .
I have spent some days in hotel Atlantic. We would like to thank to receptionist Lenka and Jitka for making our stay in the ATLANTIC so enjoyable. I do appreciate all that was done for us and we will always remember the kindnesses extended to us. Jitka booked our TOP TOURS and these were really beautiful and rang Korean airlines to reconfirm our flights. Mr. + Mrs. Walters
I couldn't have been more pleased with this hotel. The room was clean and elegant, and the staff was amazing. The free breakfast is incredible. As mentioned by others, you can't get much better in terms of location; walking distance to just about everything in Prague. Great value for the price, and the staff really go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
We have just spent a wonderful 3 days at the Atlantic Hotel in Prague. We were more than happy to find the guide books were ( inaccurately) less than comp[limentary about aspects of Prague that we found to be more than satisfactory. No surly waiters for a start! the ambience and architecture were more than we hoped for and there were no problems finding good bars/ restaurants for eating & drinking. Our hotel, the Atlantic was very good & to be recommended. the situation was excellent as were the facilties. I for one hope to return to Prague in the not so distant future.
When we arrived at Prague airport we took the shuttle bus into the city. Excellent value.Do not go near the taxis as we discovered to our cost later in our stay! Our bus driver spoke some English and was able to direct us to our hotel. From the bus stop this is a very short walk. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful. Our room was basic but spotlessly clean. It was very quiet and as it was on the fifth floor we had a nice view over Prague. The bed was very cosy and the shower nice and powerful. However we would have liked a kettle to make a cup of coffee. All in all this is a lovely hotel in an excellent location and very good value for money.
We stayed in this hotel in May 2007 for two nights and were not that impressed. On the advice of other posts we asked for a room at the rear of the hotel and were rewarded with a very quiet room on the 2nd floor (no street noise at all). The rooms were spacious and basically furnished, though adequate (No English TV channels if you wanna chill for an hour or so). No problems with the bathroom at all and we found the room to be cleaned to a high standard. Generally the staff were very helpful and friendly. We did find the blonde woman at reception to be very rude (as others have noted). We asked her to call to book an external airport transfer for us from reception. She refused as they have their own TF service and expected us to pay almost double for that (so much for sonsumer chioce). Sadly then we had to try about 10 phone boxes around town to call ourselves to find none worked and some took our coins. In the end we had to call from the hotel room and cop the (small) charge. Not the best thing to be doing whilst also sightseeing on your last day. The beds were like sleeping on rock, say no more!!!!! We wanted to arrange a late check out and were willing to pay for this of course. We were told to check the night before and then told to come back at the normal check out time and ask. In May the hotel hardly seemed full and a surge of tourist bookings over night seemed unlikely. In the end we got the late check out at a rate of 150 extra per hour. The location as stated is within walking distance of points of interest though not as close as I expected. You are very close to the Powder Tower though Charles Bridge is about 15 to 20 mins walk. This is not too long but not great in the rain without an umbrella lol. There is free internet in the lobby but many times it was not available as other guests would sit there chatting online. As a side note, stop by U Medvidku (pub) for beer and dinner - we loved it! Cheap beers and great food. Overall you get what you pay for. This is a cheap enough hotel, close enough to all the sights. Mostly the bed and hassle with the transfer and late check out put us off!
Just back from a 4 nights stay at Atlantic where we had a very comfortable double room on 2. floor, facing the street. This hotel has obviously been through a major - and lenghty - facelift which may be reflected in previous reports indicating a great variety in room layouts, wear, sizes, decorations, furniture - and prices! We paid €130 p.d. through hotels.com. and got a practically new room with a nice bathroom (with a working shower!), - but without any shelf for personal "beauty bags". Summarized; - Our general impression was above expectations (ref to pictures and reports). - We agree to practically all positive entries from previous guests - and to some of the negative ones. - Yes, our quite new bed was somewhat hard and people with relevant bodily problems could get problems, although we slept very well. - Very little street noise, allthough the tram was rounding the corner every 5 minute or so just up the street and a huge building was under construction a 100 metres the other way. - The room was in a redish tone, from light pink to mahogony. - Excellent service, both at the main desk, at breakfast and in the bar. NOTE: No aircondition or other air circulation, except a light switch activated fan in the bathroom. In summer this room, facing south, may get hot and probably require open (double) windows during the night. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Atlantic and would not mind staying there again.
I just spent three days at the Hotel Atlantic whilst attending a scientific meeting with two colleagues This was a really good hotel with superb service and excellent value. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The breakfast menu was very comprehensive and the food was very good. The staff were always very helpful and did their very best to help guests with any queries. The free WIFI always worked which is essential for me. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel Prof K. C. Thompson, UK
My friend and I stayed at the Atlantic for 3 nights. The location was really good. We walked into town, etc. and didn't have to use public transport at all. Breakfast was included and there was a good range of foods available. Rooms were clean, comfortable and were a good size. Good shower. Overall, I would stay here again.
This hotel is great, very well located. Room is clean and spacious. The buffet breakfast is very plentiful and offers everything. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. I had a problem with distance telephone in the room, the hotel staff offered a free calls from the reception. The location is quiet yet close to all of the tourist attractions. It’s one of the best hotel I stayed in during my time in Czech Republic. I highly recommend this hotel.
We spent 3 nights at the hotel Atlantic. Now it is about time someone gives this a rating other than 5. I did not sleep more than a few hours each night due to the fact that the bed was terrible. Hard as concrete and extremly uncomfortable. Maybe I would have slept better on the floor. When getting up in the morning my whole body was aching like I had been in a fight. And I am not in a bad shape. As most reviews correctly say, the Hotel was cheap. Staff was very friendly and helpfull. But, it was not as clean as most reviews claim. The carpet was worn out and a bit dirty. The bathroom was clean with tiles. But nowhere to put your personal belongings. The standard of the rooms were simple. Ok, the room was spaceous, but very plain in its furnishing. Actually there was no place to sit and relax other than one "office" chair and a hard bench I guess they used as a third bed . There was no water heater so you could make your own coffee or tea. The paint on the window frames was flaking off and the frames were rotten. You could even see this from the inside. The breakfast was buffet style and varied in its selection and quantity, but who wants to eat goulash leftovers for breakfast? I might sound very negative. Still I would recommend this Hotel to anyone mostly because of its location very close to the old town and other attractions. The room rates count in a postive direction too.
I did 2 nights on a "Jolly Boys" outing to Prague. The Hotel was cheap, very clean and the standards of the rooms were more then comfortable. The breakfast was buffet style and varied in its selection and quantity. Overall I would recommend this Hotel to anyone, not bad for all the local attractions either.
We have not long returned from a 3 night stay in hotel atlantic,(We went to get married in the beautiful city of prague) We arrived to the hotel on the 18th jan 2007 to the most friendly service myself and my now husband have ever had. To start with it is the best value for money around, the location is excellent, the rooms are spacious and very clean, the food is gorgeous, the staff in the hotel are very polite and friendly,as are the lovely ladies who clean the hotel. We will be returning to prague this year and will hopefully be staying in the hotel atlantic again as i wouldnt choose any other hotel in prague, for someone wishing to travel to prague i would highly reccomend this hotel, Thank You so much for a great stay Caroline and Daniel Scott.....Tipperary.....Ireland
I got a great deal for USD 59 per day. Nice hotel with nice clean rooms and bathrooms. Friendly and efficient staff. Its very close to the city center in Prague. There are good restaurants nearby. I will gladly recommend this hotel.
Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Atlantic Hotel, Prague and had a great time, I would highly recommend this hotel. The location is great just a short walk to all the major attractions. The hotel has everything you need apart from no tea/coffee facilities in room which would have been nice, but the breakfast more than made up for it. The hotel was very clean and the staff were really helpful and efficient. Would stay there again and recommend to friends and family.
Firstly I rated this as 'Above Average' due to the cheap rate we paid for this hotel. We've paid more for less in other places. This hotel is ideally suited just on the edge of the Old Town. Which means no more than a 5 minute walk (if that). This is ideal because the old town can get quite noisy with stag do's etc. But dont let the stag thing get in your way. There's more than enough bars/resturants to go around in the old town. (more on this below) We found our room (2nd floor front) to big spacious, very clean, with a modern shower/toilet. It had nice little touches, like shoe brush, a free safe. plenty of towels etc. However top tip to anyone else going, try for a back room. This is because as other reviews have hinted at, it can be quite noisy in the morning (6am and earlier) with workman and bin collectors etc. Plus this hotel is near a junction where the rather cool but lethal trams speed around. Also there are some major building works going on a few doors down, which goes on it seems till very late and starts very early. This is March 07 and by the looks of it they have at least another 6+ months to go. So that can be noisy. But that didnt affect our stay here. We were too tired from all the walking looking at the histroic sights and enjoying the cheap beers along the way...... The breakfast is on par with other hotels in this price range in Prague it seems. Quite basic, but with the essentials, tea/coffee (nice) toast and fruit. etc to keep you going until lunch time. Which is all you can ask for. If you like a lavish breakfast, go somewhere else. The bar is friendly enough, but dont forget a tip otherwise you'll experince the unmentionable Czech icey stare or comment. Try turning left out the hotel for chepaer coffees/ resturants where it seems the locals go. But overall the 'would we go back test' ? Yes. We like our hotels to be clean, good facilities and good location. For the money we got just that. Now other tips for your first trip to Prague. Do NOT use any taxis on the street. Do NOT exchange money when your approached (and you will be) on the street. Taxis for hire (except AAA) are not to be trusted. Our guide (and many others) said 99% of them will rip you off in ways you'd never imagined and will resort to violence if they are not paid the criminally high fare they just thought up. Prague is a small place and most places are walked to within ten minutes. We used the much advertised CEEZ minibus for airport transfer .They have the price on the door and are a reputable guide/transfer service. Steer clear of anything else. MONEY: I can only imagine there must be a market for tourists looking to exchange real money for fake on the street judging by the amount of approaches we had (although they are not rude, you'll just get a whisper out of the corner of their mouth as you pass by). Now all I'll say is, if you fancy entering into a deal with one of these people, good luck spending the monopoly money you've just been suckered in into swapping with your hard earned real cash. They use notes that look the same as Czech ones but are in fact fake or Bulgarian etc. There are so many banks for you to get the real deal, I have no sympathy with anyone thinking they can get a better deal with the shady character in the dark alley. We were warned of pickpockets, but taking the usual sensible precautions you'd take in any other tourist spot, we did not experince any of this. Prague is lovely. Each alleyway leads to somewhere new and you cannot get lost. .. unless you have had too many beers. Enjoy.
I spent three nights at Hotel Atlantic. I was very pleased with it and the price - 49 euro per night. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious. Top rate buffet breakfast - everything from bacon to green peppers to basic continental. Some Czech food too. It was impossible to walk in without at least one member of staff being at the front desk. Usually there were two so no waiting around anytime I needed to ask for something and good security. The location is also excellent. Five minutes of walking takes you to the Stare Mesto main square, Wenceslas Sq., Florenc bus station, and the main train station. Walking and bus tours were also nearby. There was a commercial bank and cash machine on the next street. The construction work going on was not a problem either as it was separated from Hotel Atlantic by Hotel Ibis. There is one computer in the lobby with free internet access. No negative points I can think of.
The Hotel Atlantic is part of the "Small, Charming" collection of Hotels in Prague. The staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful. The rooms have been newly rennovated and were large, beautiful, quiet and very clean. We were allowed to see our room before we checked in. The price was very reasonable. There is a bar and separate restaurant downstairs. There is a huge breakfast buffet each morning which is free to guests. The food was fantastic and there were so many things to choose from. Lots of delicious local favorites. Everything was freshly made each morning. I. I highly recommend this hotel if you plan to visit Prague. It was also within walking distance to everything. I would like to experience some of the other "Small, Charming" hotels on our next visit to Prague, but loved the Hotel Atlantic so much, we would more than likely stay there again.
We Have just returned form a Fantastic break in Prague, staying at the perfectly located "Atlantic Hotel". After reading several other reviews my judgement was clouded by reports of unhelpfull staff and pick-pockets to name but a few. This was NOT the case. The staff are both wecloming and helpful, even when arriving late in the evening. We we allocated room 203 to the rear of the Hotel which was lovely and quiet, with ample room with Satellite TV and a spotless Bathroom/shower room. The hotel was lovely and warm and NO extra blankets were needed as the outside temperatures reached below freezing most evenings. Breakfast has a wide variety of choice, from the Continetal (Cheese and hams etc), English (Bacon and eggs etc), Healthy (Yoghurts, fruits, cereals etc) to the traditional hot Czech-style breakfasts. It's all buffet style, so you just help yourself to what you fancy! There is free internet access in the lobby and the Bar offers a wide selection of reasonably priced drinks (Compaired to the surrounding area) in friendly surroundings. (The ceiling is covered in "umbrellas"). AIRPORT TRANSFER :- Dont bother with the taxi's at the airport unless you're short on time, the transfer IS EASY. We bought a "3-day Transfer ticket" for 220Kc (about £5) which allows unlimited travel on ALL public transport (Buses, Trams, Metro, Trains and even the funicular railway). We got ours at the airport on arrival at the kiosk in the terminal building. Jump on Bus-100 to Zlicin and put your tiicket in the machine on the bus (ONLY ONCE), then jump on the metro to Namesti Republiky. The hotel is just up the road about 150m. OUT AND ABOUT:- Take a good pair of walking shoes as all the streets are cobbled and enjoy your unlimited travel, Just explore!. We found a nice bar just around the corner (Left out the hotel doors and 1st left) was the "Corbra Musik Bar". Try the "Bohemian Platter" if you're NOT vegetarian, Roast duck, Gammon and a pork steak, this is very filling and served with dumplings throughout the city. I would recommend the "Atlantic Hotel" to all. Wonderful Base in a beautiful city. JUST GET UP AND GO FOR IT ! ! ! !
We stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Atlantic. Very good value. Close to metro, trams and old town square. Big rooms and bathroom with good hot water pressure. Good hot and cold breakfast variety. Free internet in lobby. Asked for quiet rooms and rooms 501 and 503 both were quiet - slept with window open!
We were very impressed with our stay at the hotel Atlantic. We would recommend this lovely hotel to others. The room was perfect for the long weekend we spent here. The staff were always helpful. Thanky you very for a wonderful stay!
Visited Prague and stayed at the Hotel Atlantic last September for a mid-week break. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room they gave us was very modern with a good view, but had a problem with the lights so they moved us to a larger older room. Not much of a view but we didn't intend to stay in the room other than for sleeping.Breakfast was included and was very generous-we didn't need any lunch! The hotel was quite central too, being near Nameski Square for the airport buses. We went on a walking tour the first mornng which covered all the places of interest and gave us our bearings. Everywhere in Prague can be walked to although it is quite a steep walk to the castle. We took a tram (incl in the tour price) then walked down the 220 steps back! We had no problems walking around day or night. Lots of beautiful buildings especially in the Old Town Square-Stare Mesto -and very cheap restaurants. The small river boat ride is a must! Definitely a must-see city though do go in the week to avoid the stag/hen parties! Get a tourist bus from the airport too-tickets on sale in the arrivals lounge. Taxis are renowned rip-off merchants.
I am just back from a 3 day visit to Prague where I stayed in the Hotel Atlantic. Overall, for the price we paid for it it was great value for money. There were six of us travelling and we all received ajoining rooms, however one room was smaller than the others but that is to be expected in small hotels. The location is perfect, with a short walk to everything you want to see in Prague. My only complaint was the service in the hotel. The receptionists were rude and unfriendly, which i blame on them speaking very poor english. We arrived at 12 midnight as our flight was delayed and this seemed to tick them off. Only one member of staff that we met smiled. However, this was an insignificant flaw. Our room was cleaned every day, the rooms and bathrooms are immaculate. We never ate breakfast in the hotel however. It was an altogether comfortable, affordable hotel in an excellent location. I would stay here again.
This hotel was fantastic. I went to Prague for four days with my boyfriend and this hotel was exactly what we were looking for. The hotel itself is only 5 minutes from the Old Town Square making it a great location for walking to and from most of the main tourist areas without having to get in any taxis or even use public transport. The hotel staff were very helpful and polite (on arrival they provided us with a detailed map of the city and marked out the main areas of interest). They also spoke really good English and were more than happy to answer any questions. we had The room itself was spacious, clean and very comforrable. The bathroom seemed to be newly refurbished, was very spacious and had an excellent shower. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere clean, comfortable, ideally located and with staff who are both polite and accomodating to any personal requests you may have.
My girlfriend (21) and I (22) stayed in Prague for 4 days and we really enjoyed ourselves. As this was our first trip away together we didn't really have high expectations but the Hotel Atlantic fulfilled all of our requirements: cheap and cheerful in a very central location, 24hr reception etc. After booking the room in August we contacted the Hotel directly and requested a room on the top floor as these are the quieter rooms, and they were more than happy to oblige to this request. Don't bother to buy a map of the city, merely ask at the reception for a city map and the one they provide is very detatilled and very useful. We visited all the main attractions (the Castle, Charles Bridge, The Lookout Tower, St Vitus's Cathedral, Wenceslas Square, Od Town Square, Wallenstein Gardens near the Castle (which were free and definately worth a visit!!) a boat ride along the river (called little Venice) etc etc, and we travelled by foot to all of these. We did pretty much everything that there was to see in Prague and all in 4 days, and did not use public transport (including taxis) once, except to and from the Airport. Getting to and from the Airport, we would suggest that you use the airport shuttle bus. This leaves from the airport at the very front of the taxi queue (outside the airport terminal on the right). (There is a time table there). If in doubt, do not feel affaid to ask one of the taxi drivers for the shuttle bus that drops off (one stop) at the Rennaisance Hotel in the Namesti Republik. This is approximately 2 minutes walk from the Hotel Atlantic and is only 90Kr per person. On the return journey to the airport it leaves on the hour and the half hour from outside the Renaisance Hotel (again there is a timetable). The journey takes approximately 25mins and is considerably cheaper than a taxi. In summary we had a fantastic holiday and we would definately stay at the Hotel Atlantic on our return journey to this beautiful city.
For a 3 star, the hotel was above expectations! Location was perfect....on the edge of the old town. Everything was within walking distance. The best thing about the hotel.....it had free parking! That is very hard to come by in Prague in the city center! The lady at the desk was very helpful. The room was very clean and nice. Looked newly refurbished. Great bathroom with a super high pressure shower. There is a street tram stop out front, so it could be a little loud if you have a room in the front of the hotel. But I enjoyed watching all the people down below. We spent evenings in the Havana bar. Too bad it closes at 11pm, but there is a really nice Jazz restaurant/bar across the street. Breakfast was very good. A nice selection...only thing missing were the scrambled eggs, but everything was hot and the coffee was good. The hotel is right next to the Mercure and the Ibis, but less than 1/2 the price. I will definitely stay there next time in Prague!!!!
stayed with my parents for their golden wedding rooms very clean and large. yes they did only provide liquid soap unlike many UK hotels, however unlike many UK hotels the bathrooms and bedrooms were immaculate no toe nail clippings left under the beds or signs of mold in the toilets. we had a family room for two which meant 2 sofas as well as table and chairs. If you were taking a family room ideal, as 2 kids would have own beds rather than sharing Pillows were soft, they would provide more pillows if asked. Breakfast typical local buffet, always something you could eat. Location great, short walk to Old town, Wencelas Shopping area, Jewish quarters etc Never heard the builders even though working, but I am sure this would have been quieter than the noise in the square or other areas where the revellers were enjoying themselves. would go back to this hotel again.
We chose this hotel after extensive research based on reviews at this website as well as location. (We were meeting my parents for the weekend who were staying at the much more expensive Marriott just one street away.) We booked the room two months prior; unfortunately, when we arrived from the airport at noon we were informed that there was a "problem with our reservation" (no explanation, something about the computers) and arrangements had been made to taxi us to another hotel (Hotel U Kocku--separate review posted). While the manager was very apologetic and we didn't want to cause a fuss, we were extremely disappointed. The other hotel, while located closer to sightseeing, was not nearly as nice and the street noise made sleep impossible until 3 am both nights. I'm not sure what we could have done to have avoided this situation, or if we'd refused to accept the alternative accommodation, if a room would have suddenly become available. At any rate, if you book directly with the hotel, CONFIRM YOUR RESERVATION just before arriving!
Just back today from Prague, stayed 4 nights in this hotel. Good things: great big shower, staff friendly enough, they have their own taxi company who you can use who are quite efficient. Not so good:breakfast (could only stomach it one morning, never again), not so comfy pillows, quite noisy during night and early morning(from inside hotel and outside, no air con so you really have to leave windows open), no shower gels or shampoos just a non labeled liquid soap. Stay here if your only about for a night or two and not planning on a great sleep or brekkie.
We have just returned from a 3 night break in Prague, staying at the Atlantic Hotel, the hotel itself was very nice, the rooms very large and clean with plenty of storage space, the breakfast was just ok, the location of the hotel is very good, unfortunately there is extensive building work going on at the moment and they work 24/7 over there so it was very very noisy all night long, so if your a light sleeper i suggest you ask for a room at the rear of the hotel.
stayed in this hotel 2 nights september 2006.lobby reception, very good, room big clean all you need for a short break.breakfast was one of the best have had anywere in europe.bar area very good.really cant say anything bad about this hotel, staff helpfull and friendly, would certainly go back.
Good clean hotel just few steps everywhere. All staff are very helpful and professional. We have found hotel comfortable and rooms spacious with new furniture and bathrooms. WiFi free of charge is really appriciated. We will recommend to our friends as well as the yahoo travellers.
stayed at hotel atlantic june 17th to june 20th. pure coincidence but we were a group 2 couples and we stayed in rooms 501 and 502 also! very quiet. Hotel is very high standard for prague 3 star. bathroom lovely and breakfast was very nice if you get down for it around 8, if you leave it too late its not as nice. hotel very central new town and oldtown 10-15 mins walk, caslte 25 mins walk. staff very friendly. we got hotel driver to take us back to airport and he was so friendly for about 650 czk which is about 25 euro which was fine between 4 of us.
My wife and I have just returned from a trip to Prague, Budapest and England. Prague is a beautiful city but overcrowded with tourists and so it was difficult for us to get hotel rooms within our budget. We booked the hotel through the internet and the staff were very polite and efficient. The rooms are very large and have recently been refurbished, so the bathrooms are clean and well-equipped, but the rooms are very basic. When we checked in the TV in our room didn't work and it was a weekend so we weren't able to get the staff to repair it. However, on Monday the Manager tried very hard and when he wasn't able to, he changed our room and gave us a complementary bottle of sparkling wine, which was a very nice touch. The hotel is very well located, but it is very noisy. It was very hot when we were there and had to sleep with the windows open since there is no air-conditioning or fan. Our room wasn't facing the street, but the kitchen staff come in early in the morning and make a lot of noise and turn the radio on very loud. Breakfast was also very basic - for instance, orange squash instead of juice and and rolls and sliced bread instead of croissants. We stayed in a far nicer hotel in Budapest for the same price, but prague hotels seem to be expensive in general. If we were to return to Prague we would probably look for another hotel.
Travelled to Prague for 4 days and stayed at the Atlantic Hotel. Great central location, walking distance of everything, old town square, Charles Bridge etc. Rooms at the hotel are big, good size bathrooms and massive dressing space. Kind of basic looking but comfy and anyhow how much time do you spend in your room ona city break anyway! Did not make it to breakfast at the hotel! Building work going on very near by and is 24hrs a day and could easily keep you awake at night if you are a light sleeper. There are trucks along the road all the time and they are not quiet! As no AC in the rooms you need the windows open and the noise is ongoing. Overall a good hotel, which will be even better once the building work stops!
We stayed at the Atlantic Hotel last week for three nights. The hotel is excellent, it is very clean and comfortable. The rooms are an excellent size with lots of space and very comfortable. The only thing they lack is tea and coffee making facilities. Staff at the hotel are polite and most are friendly, with the exception of the 'stand in' man on the bar one day.....he could do with lessons in smiling at the least! The usual bar man was very friendly and gave excellent service. The hotel is well situated for seeing the sights, although you must be prepared for lots of walking, Prague being a walking city. There are trams and an underground system, although we did not use these. To anyone considering a city break to Prague, they would do well to consider staying at the Atlantic.
As i wrote in Jan 06, i will return to the hotel and i did in April. Its just as nice if not better than i remembered. the hotel was clean, friednly, the bar much improved and you can get a pint. Wine well priced - even if they call cava champagne. They arranged a buzz fizz reception in our room for my parnters birthday. Get room 505, its at the top of the hotel but there is no noise at all. One a point you really should go next door but one, turn left out of the hotel and eat in the restaurant. Nice well cooked food, decent wine and excellent service. Dinner for three with drinks and two bottles of Pinot Grigio just short of £50.00. Again i say, its such a nice friendly hotel and i again can not wait to i return for the third time.
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Atlantic for the extended weekend in April. We were lucky, that there was sunny weather, maybe first sunny days in Prague this year. The Hotel Atlantic is very well located – just a little walk from the amazing Prague’s Old Town. The Hotel is clean, friendly and we really enjoyed our stay there. The staff was always very nice, polite, friendly and helpful. They could speak very good English and some of them also German and Spanish. The room had been recently renovated; furniture and fittings were obviously new. I was surprised, how large the room was. I loved the powerful shower and heated towel rail in the renewed bathroom. The room and bathroom were very clean as well as the public areas. The breakfast was served in the Fiesta Café next to the reception and was fabulous. I really enjoined it. There was plenty of good coffee, teas, juices, breads, ham, cheese, eggs, sausages, bacon, cereals, fruit etc. Prague is a lovely city and overall our stay was great. I would certainly recommend Atlantic Hotel to my friends.
We stayed at the Atlantic for 3 nights in April. Our room was a double on the third floor at the front of the hotel. The room was very clean and the bathroom looked very new and had a lovely power shower. The only problem we found with the room was that even when we turned down the radiator it was still too warm and stuffy and we couldn't open the window. This problem probably occured because the weather suddenly turn really warm for April in Prague (21 degrees) and they hadn't adjusted the heating for this The staff were very friendly and helped us efficiently whenever we had any questions. The breakfast room was very light and airy and had a very wide selection to choose from, both hot and cold. The hot breakfast options were varied every day as well. The location was great - just a short 2 min walk to the Powder gate. We would definately stay at the Atlantic again.
Staff is friendly, attentive to details. Mainly the reception staff was very helpful, giving us advice on where to go for dinner, double checking our train departure, etc. Also the waiters were efficient and helpful.
Just got back from a 2 night mid week trip to Prague, and what a lovely place to visit! The Hotel Atlantic is clean, friendly and well located and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the street and it was huge! You could have easily fit another 2 double beds in there and still had loads of space! The rooms were very clean, as were all the public areas, this tends to make a real difference to me... when somewhere is so lovely and clean, it always makes a good impression. The room we were given (and all those i saw around us when doors were left open) had been recently renovated. The furniture, carpets, and fixtures and fittings were all new. Very comfy beds and dressings, a little firm but thats good for your back! Although the double bed was actually 2 singles pushed together, it didn't matter as they were done in such a way it was just the same as being in a double even if you layed on the join. The bathroom had also being recently done out, with a very large modern shower cubicle, powerful power shower, heated towel rail, and other modern fittings. The staff at the hotel were always very polite, smiling, and said hello and good morning, and spoke good English too. The small hotel bar (The Havana Bar) was pleasant, although we only went in there for one drink. It was pretty modern with open upside down umbrellas on the ceiling(?) and a big huge screen showing Sky Sports. Breakfast is served in the modern Fiesta Cafe which is next to the reception area and part of the hotel. Lots of choice for all tastes and nationalities and more cold choice than hot but they vary it daily too. The location of the hotel couldn't be better really. It was very central and a 6 or 7 minute walk to Wenceslas Square (which is actually a boulevard) and also to the Old Town Square where it's all happening. In the immediate area, is a number of other hotels, shops, and restaurants. (Try the Dinitz cafe opposite the hotel - Fab modern funky bar and pretty good food too!) The only slight downside was the rumblings from the trams going past on the street during the night and early morning. It wasn't a problem for us at all as we sleep through anything, especially after those cheap £1 beers everywhere! If you are a light sleeper though, or boring and go to bed at 11 o clock, you may want to ask for a room at the back of the hotel, away from the street. Just a note about taxis from the airport. When you come out of the terminal bulding, the taxis are lined up right in front of you ready to take you to your hotel for around 480 Czech Crowns. However, to save a decent chunk of money, use the shuttle service which runs every half hour from right outside the terminal building and drops off (single drop) at the centre of town, right near to Namesty Republiky and Na Porici where the Atlantic hotel is. It costs 95 Czeck Crowns per person and takes about 20/25 minutes to get from the airport to the drop off point. We used it both ways and saved a packet! This service is operated by the same company (Cedaz) who have all the taxis outside the terminal. The white shuttle bus (minibus) is usually parked right at the front, or just in front of, the taxi rank. Just ask a taxi driver where it is if you cannot find it. Don't cross the road and start looking around the local bus stops like i did! Overall our stay was great, really enjoyed it and would certainly be very happy to book this hotel again on a future trip to Prague.
Just come back from a long weekend at the Hotel Atlantic. I am a little surprised at the glowing reviews and do not agree with the review below that it is a terrible hotel. My thoughts... Pros: (1)Centrally located (2) Efficient 24 hour reception (3) Gay-tolerant (4) Payment for the room can be made in other currencies and without commission charge (5) Very clean rooms with table and chairs (6) Rooms very large for a 3 star hotel (6) Power shower (7) Quiet Cons: (1) Polyester / nylon duvets that really disturb a good nights sleep (2) no bath (3) shower rooms very small and hot with nowhere to put your vast amount of toiletries (4) double bed are two singles pushed together with two single duvets (5) Taxi mark-up about 50% - organise local taxis yourself if you can (see AAA Taxi website) (6) Breakfast food can run out and its not replaced so get there early before the hoards of other hotel guests (7) only one 2-slot toaster for everyone in the hotel eating breakfast. Toast takes forever! (8) Not great breakfast for vegitarians (9) hard beds if you like soft ones Summary: would not stay there again only because of the duvet / bed situation and I do not think it worth paying more than £50 a night for a room there. A pretty average 3 star hotel.
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Atlantic for 4 nights from 12th to 16th February. The reception on arrival was pleasant and the receptionist spoke excellent English, the interior is modern and well decorated, theroom was very comfortable and very clean. Everything worked (unlike hotels in GB) but there's no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The breakfast in the Fiesta cafe was much better than most hotels I have stayed in GB. There was plenty of hot food (eggs, bacon etc) as well as the usual continental type fare. It is a public cafe so you need to be there around 9.00am latest or some of the hot food runs out and is not replenished after about 9.30am so there is no waste when it closes at 10.00am prompt! We had a room on the front so there is some noise from the trams throughout the night but not enough to keep you awake unless you sleep with the wndow open! The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. Opposite is the fabulous Dinitz cafe that has live music every night and excellent food.
My advice for anyone thinking of staying here is DONT do it. It's the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I did not try the breakfast, but I understand that was probably a good thing. Everything was low rate. The elevators were only big enough to fit 2people, and then you had to wait 5mins at a time just for it to get to you. The room was clean, but cheap. The tv was old and didnt work. The wireless internet was crap. You couldnt access it from everywhere in the hotel as they stated. And it kept disconnecting every few mins. The bathroom and shower were decent, but there was no place to put your soap or anything in the shower. Nor was there a counter in the bathroom... only a sink. The front desk staff were nice, but nothing like the K & K and Marriott just around the courner. Would I stay here again? NEVER. Would I recommend it to others? Only to backpackers and people on a cheap budget who dont care what kind of place they sleep in for the night.
Great hotel to stay at for a weekend trip, honestly. I have pretty high standards (especially for cleanliness and food!) and for a 3 star hotel in the center of Prague it ticked all the boxes. The rooms were spacious, with basic furniture including a sofa, a free of charge safe and VERY clean. The only negative thing I will say is the bed and bed sheets: the "double" bed was actually 2 single beds put together, the pillows were very flat and there wasn’t proper bed linen, only 2 thin duvets. The heating was very good, so there was no need for further sheets, but it would’ve been nice to have proper ones! The bathroom was VERY clean too, with an excellent shower, towel rack and free liquid soap. The breakfast is excellent with plenty of good coffee, teas, cereals, juices, breads, pastries, ham, cheese, eggs, sausages, bacon, etc. The location was perfect- 5 minutes walk from the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, 10 minutes from the Jewish quarter, 15-20 minutes from the Charles Bridge. They are building a new shopping mall near by, so that might annoy people but you walk past it in less than 30 seconds so shouldn’t really annoy somebody much. I would definitely suggest people to stay at this hotel. This was a surprise weekend trip for my fiancé and he was extremely pleased with the outcome- shame to be back in England!
ok it isnt five star but ihave stayed in five star that were no better than this .little hotel, perfect location ok rooms were ok no bath but hey ho young lady on reception was really sweet and spoke good english breakfast was substantial and plenty of coffee yes they are decorating but that wasnt a problem and i think the hotel fitted in with the character of the city the italian restaraunt next door was great big menu and presented well two meals three pints of lager fifteen quid very good meal easy to get to airport by metro and bus fifty pence will go back soon stay at back of hotel to avoid tram noise
I'm sorry, but I really am astonished at the glowing reviews of this hotel. At best it's a comfortable and relatively modern hostel-class accommodation. The photographs in the Spanish chap's review are artfully created to such an extent that I wonder whether he isn't a 'clack' for the hotel itself (in the same way that authors anonymously review their own work in Amazon's reviews). What was good: o The bedroom was clean o The shower room was brand new and the shower powerful o Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful o Its location is reasonably good (but stay at the back to avoid tram noise) What was not so good: o The food. Oh my God, the food ... was lousy! Overcooked and for the most part tasteless. How anyone can call their fare 'tasty' is beyond comprehension. There was, however, plenty of it. o The worst coffee I have ever tasted in my entire life. It was like hot mud-coloured water. o The room's decor was spartan. Ours had a heating pipe running up one wall which made the room redolent of a boiler room. The cupboard was a single free-standing dark wood affair with a few wire hangers. o The restuarant staff could not speak a word of English which made simple questions impossible to elicit answers o One member of staff appeared to have been trained in the Heinrich Himmler school of charm. (However all the rest apart from this lady, were delightful) o Being woken early in the morning (before 7) by hotel maintenance staff crashing about removing heavy metal items from the store room on the same floor. The problem is that, for some reason, most Prague hotels are grossly over-priced (compare them with Budpest's equivalent to see what I mean). As a result, people are so delighted when they find a clean and comfortable hostelry whose prices don't flay the skin from them that they lose sight of what they should receive for their money. This isn't a bad hotel, but it isn't a good one either. To read the glowing reports about this place (and expressing rapturous acclaim for the food) makes me wonder what kind of hotel these people usually stay at. The bar downstairs is, by all accounts, very pleasant and reasonably priced. I can't say because we didn't avail ourselves of the facility, but do be aware that booze (and particularly beer) is cheap in Prague anyway. Would I stay there again? No. Would I recommend it? Only to backpackers and people under 25.
Friendly staff, spotless bathroom, very good. I just stayed there (yesterday), location is fine, breakfast is good. except one thing, there was a staff, a girl maybe late 20s, blonde, tall, name starts with J something was very rude. she ruined everything. I really wanted to talk to the manager of this hotel, but i didn't. She swears behind our back (of course it was in czech and i couldn't understand it was really a swearing but I felt that it was a swearing or at least it was a grunting. Be careful about the girl. Except that thing, everything is great.
In terms of value for money this hotel is a perfect balance between location, facilities and cost. It isn't the most luxurious or the fanciest, but it's comfortable and clean, the staff are helpful and it's easily within walking distance of everything you'll want to see. The breakfasts are massive - there's a huge continental buffet spread, but best of all is the bathroom which had been recently refurbished and had the best shower of any hotel I've ever stayed at (including 5 star hotels). Would definitely recommend it, and will stay there again.
Room was large and very clean , not much of a view but the back is not so noisy if you want a lie in . Breakfast good but continental style( missed decent sausages and black pudding ) , bar and lounge basic but good if in company , not much atmosphere if you like a booze up and beware of barmans rapping music , No evening meals served but PLENTY of good bars and restaurants on the doorstep , turn left out of the hotel and go in the first place you see on the left , cannot remember the name but food and service EXCELLENT . A good central hotel with friendly and helpful staff . Watch the tours they recommend and taxis they order for you , cheaper and better can be arranged once you shop around . Barter with taxis for fixed prices and if you go to the castle take the little tour train from the Old square ( 5 mins walk from hotel ) , you can get off and get on again later to go back , more fun and cheaper then the tour buses . All in all a good clean hotel at at a reasonable price and central for most things , finally take in at least one concert while you are there , Great .
Cleanliness was good it seems they have just redfurbed the rooms. The location was perfect for the old town tour, also the staff were very helpfull in providing a safe free parking space for our Motorcycles. There was the odd rumble of a tram going by but they do not run through the night so unless you plan to sleep during the day this place is highly recomended. We had one of new renovated rooms, so our our stay was like in better 4 stars standard. we highly recommend this hotel
Stayed at the Atlantic for a week from 18th June. We were 4 ladies enjoying each others company and soaking up the magnificent sights of Prague. We used tripadvisor before booking and all the reviews checked out, all comments good (large rooms, good breakfast, good location) and not so good (noisy at front, rooms can get hot as no air conditioning) checked out. Overall a friendly, clean and central hotel (metro on next block if needed) which was good value for money. Only bad point which may seem trivial but it did bothered us was that the hotel has a lounge which is situated at the back of the bar area. The bar is closed and locked at 11 pm prompt and therefore so is the lounge. After a long day sightseeing we just wanted to chill out in the hotel and finish the night off chatting over irish coffees, we were very disappointed when, each night we were asked to leave because the bar was to be closed. Apart from this we couldn't fault the service.
This was the most interesting hotel that we stayed at for our Europe trip. To begin, the location of the hotel was excellent - right down from the Namesti Republicky station. The entrance/lobby/dining rooms looked to have been recently renovated, but we couldn't quite figure out the rest of the hotel. Our room was a very different mix of modern/nice with things that could be found in my grandmother's house. For example, the light fixtures and lamps looked to be 35-40 years old, but there was nice wood paneling around the perimeter of the room. The bathroom was the nicest (and largest) bathroom out of all the hotels we stayed at in Europe. They appeared to be very new. My husband and I finally deduced that they must have not had enough money to renovate the whole thing, so they just picked a few things. Other things were very strange - the wall paper didn't quite cover the whole surface area of the wall - left about a foot on either side. Very strange. The room was a decent size and clean. It was a little noisy as we had to leave our window open for ventilation and the trains run right outside. They had a computer with internet access (free) in the lobby and was the last "normal" American keyboard we were to see for the rest of our trip. They even had wireless in the lobby that we could use. Breakfast was included and was filling. I wasn't particularly pleased by any of the breakfasts served in Europe as it is a strange combination of items, but they had the most offerings of any hotel we stayed at. Overall, a good hotel in a good location.
Me and my cousin stayed for 3 days in early June 2005. Check-in was easy, front desk staff very pleasant and we also had a car which they parked for us, I think the charge was $10 EUR a day. Room was decent, a tad larger than your typical European hotels (this isn’t saying much). General decor seemed to be early 70's which I think is kind of neat, however the bathroom seemed brand new - nicely tiled with a great shower. If you stay there check out the 70's chandeliers in the room, really funky! The old square was maybe a 10 minute walk, the hotel was in a great location. Never got up in time to have breakfast, but a new restaurant/bar opened up across the street - I believe the name was Danitz. Good food, art deco atmosphere and the prices were reasonable, we had dinner at 1AM so they are open late. We paid $109 EUR per night at the Atlantic. Overall very satisfied.
The tip request a room in the back. You"ll sleep better- front rooms get a lot of noise from trams, revelers and music. We moved after one night. The bonus the hotel has a free computer for hotel guests. The hotel has a central location near trams, trains, buses tourist sites. Staff was helpful, rooms clean with great bathrooms. Always felt safe even late at night. A little pricey but you get what you pay for.
Nice no frills hotel at a good rate in a good location. Friendly staff. Request a room in the back of the hotel; our room was in the front and we could hear the tram go by every night.
We stayed at the Hotel Atlantic while attending a scientific conference in Prague. The staff is highly professional, friendly and polite. The rooms are furnished in a modern style, and are very comfortable. The rooms have unusually high ceilings (about 15 feet) as the hotel dates from the 18th century. We accidently left behind a bag with some valuables in it when we checked out, and they were immediately shipped to us in the US. We highly recommend this hotel.
This hotel was a great pick for all 3 of us. It was clean, the staff was always friendly and helpful, we felt safe and our rooms were quiet. (Those are all the basic requirements I look for in my accommodations.) We had one room for two people and another room for one person. BEDROOM AREA: The beds are a sort of futon style and are not as soft/plush as my mattress back home, but comfortable enough for the duration of my stay. The mattress was covered in a single sheet and only a comforter with a duvet cover on top. There was no additional sheet or blanket or pillow made available in the room. However, I was always warm enough in the night, so never needed additional blankets/pillows. BATHROOM (WC): Each room had its own private bathroom (WC) that appeared to have been remodeled with new tile and fixtures in the last couple years. A hand held hair dryer is provided. The water was always hot (almost too hot at times, so be careful!) MISCELLANEOUS: Locking/Unlocking the door was different, in that it required (what seemed) like 2-3 complete revolutions of the key in the lock - but I've head this is not unusual in the city. A safe in the room is provided, with its own separate key. A television and radio are provided in the room, but there is no clock. In the lobby is a computer with free internet access. MEALS: A breakfast buffet was provided in the restaurant connected to the hotel (named 'Fiesta'). Hot and cold foods are available including: yogurt, dry cereal/granola, pastries, cold cheese/meats, coffee, tea, eggs, bacon, sausages, bread and toasters. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area, if something else suites your taste for the day. DESK STAFF: The desk staff was ALWAYS friendly and very helpful with suggestions about how to get around the city, where to eat/shop, etc. They were well versed in multiple languages. MOBILITY TO THE CITY: Connections to the METRO can be found in the Republic Square (Namesti Republiky) which is only one city block away (approx 50 meters). The electric tram runs in front of the hotel, and the stop is just up the street (approx 30 meters). TRANSPORATION TO/FROM THE AIRPORT: We did not use a taxi, as we had heard of bad experiences from others. However there is a van that will travel between the airport and Republic Square (Namesti Republiky). This runs every 30 mins, is provided by CEDAZ and the cost is 90 Kc/per person. They will offer to drive you directly to the hotel for 480 Kc, but the walk from Republic Square is only about 50 meters.
Just returned from a short stay at the Atlantic Hotel in Prague. If you are expecting luxury, this is not the ideal choice. The rooms have 70's decor and are a little tired. However, the bathrooms have been updated as shown in photos on website and the rooms are clean if a little scruffy. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and arranged a taxi to pick us up from the airport. It is in a good location, with every attraction within walking distance. Breakfast is of a buffet style that is substantial enough to see you through until lunch. Overall, this is a basic hotel that is clean and friendly enough, although I would book somewhere with a little more luxury next time!!
At first when we got there, our beds weren't arranged how we asked, but it was the last room available so it wasn't a problem. The hotel is just wonderful, with the staff being very kind and helping out in all ways possible. The price was really good, and it was situated very close to everything in town. The breakfast was delicious, and they even prepared a special breakfast bag for us because we had to leave early!!! The internet connection was fast and free. I will defenetly reccomend this hotel!
the hotel was absolutley great, decor was 70's style. spotless and everything you needed you got. situatled perfectly for sightseeing and the beer was very cheap! will definatley be back again!
Had a lovely few days in Prague in late March. Booked this hotel on the basis of location and reviews. Wasn't disappointed. Location - excellent, short walk from Old Town Square and dead handy for the 90k each way Airport Minibus. Rooms were clean and spacious and the breakfasts were varied and tasty. Nice wee bar as well which was not expensive. Haven't given 10 out of 10 simply because the Hotel is located on a street which is a main tram route which, if you're not used to city noises, can disturb early morning sleeps.
Stayed at the Atlantic hotel to celebrate my wifes birthday. Stayed in room 301 which are quite large and very comfortable, and overlook the main street. Had a lovely evening in Havana lobby bar. This as to be seen to be believed fantastic architecture. and provides an excellent ambience. Our gratitude extends to all staff for their friendliness and being so helpful.
We stayed at hotel Atlantic a few days in February.
we had a lovely stay at this hotel. A very central hotel only 5 minutes walk from old town square.Very clean and spaceous rooms with huge bathrooms with shower. Very cosy atmosphere with good selection hot and cold buffet breakfast.Excellent restaurants/bars nearby with very reasonable prices.Definitely book again.
If you are ok with sofa style beds and duvets that don't fit the length of the sofa you are expected to believe is a bed, with curtains that don't fully close and staff that are at best brusque and breakfast that is pitiful and not worth bothering with then this may be the hotel for you! The room was clean and the hotel was located in an accessible part of town but the noise from the street flooded into your room fairly early in the morning. Overall, wouldn't recommend. The pictures on expedia show a different hotel as well.
We stayed in this nice hotel for a weekend few days ago and we really enjoyed our stay in Prague. Room was nice and a very spacious for a 3*hotel, staff was friendly and helpful with all our demands. The hotel is located in the centre and we did not need the public transport at all as you can get by foot nearly everywhere. There is a restaurant in the hotel which we visited for a buffet lunch at incredible prices, but it is a little bit difficult to find a place because of the Czech people from offices around.
The Atlantic does a slightly shabby 70s feel to its decor - though they were renovating the reception hall when I was there earlier this week. But they offer a great welcome, and nothing seems to be too much trouble. Pros: generous sized rooms; no sense of crowdedness; well placed in Stare Mesto, 10 minutes' walk from the Old Town Square/ Tyn area, and within yards of the estimable Imperial coffee house (a not-to-miss visit!) and of a good department store; very friendly and attentive, but they know how to let you be, too; internet point and room safe; good, large, firm beds; rooms and public areas well heated but not stiflingly so. Cons: duvets are too small for a six-footer, and we had to ask for another to provide good warmth and coverage, but they obliged rapidly and helpfully; breakfast in the attached restaurant is a bit unimaginative - but there is plenty of it, buffet-style; the musak over breakfast is a bit intrusive, but you can ask for it to be turned down, and this issue seems to be ubiquitous in Prague restaurants anyway. Not perhaps a place to stay if you like the Ritz - but I prefer my hotels a little more simple and less up-market! Many more pros than cons to this hotel - I'll certainly stay there again on my next visit.
