After reading the reviews we were a little de-flated and a little unsettled about staying in this hotel, boy did we get a plesant surprise it was a nice clean hotel with beautiful gardens and the Turkish staff were hard working and plesant, the only downside were the annimation girls if you wernt 21 or younger they wernt interested in you ,one swore constantly and had numerous hangovers the whole week we were there, apart from that we had a fab time the four of us are going back in september.

Went here as a late deal with the family in september! what can i say??? well i absolutly loved it and am going back and i cannot wait. we made really good friends with the entertainment guys Mustaffa, Borak, Tolga and all of the other staff (except the manager, he was very very rude). The excursions which we booked were fantastic and i reccomend swimming with dolphins, scuba diving, lazy day cruise and the water park. the food was a little repetative but was really nice. Every member of staff did their best to help you with any problems that you had and were all up for a laugh(you need that on a holiday). Even though it was end of season and the hotel was closing 2 weeks after we left we thoroughly enjoyed and would reccomend it to anyone! If any of you who read this want some pictures JUST ASK XxX

We Have just returned from a weeks stay at the litera La Luna. After reading horrendous reviews I was not looking forward to this visit,We actually booked the Litera Gumbet relax resort but received a phone call four days to our arrival to say the relax resort was not ready so we reluctantly accepted this hotel. We arrived about three in the afternoon with about half a dozen others on a mini bus so we never experienced any check in problems. We got to our allocated room which was exellent, bottom floor right next to the pool, No towels where left in our room but problem solved in about two minutes when I pointed this out to the maid. Anyway, down to business, we paid £270 each for this holiday all inclusive so we were'nt expecting a top notch holiday, just a quick break to charge up the batteries.It really annoys me when people pay a couple of hundred pounds for a holiday then complain about plastic glasses and "their beer glass was not topped up" ,Get a life. The rooms were very adequite and clean, maid was in every day to make the bed and a general clean, I asked for an extra pillow which she got me.Towels were replaced every day. Gumbet itself was not for me, the resort only actually opened the day we arrived so still lots of work going in local taverns and the beach was a bit of a mess which was cleaned up during our stay.We were quite concerned about the amount of stray dogs roaming around but was informed the local dogs home closed down and they were just set free, on the other hand Bodrum is lovely which you can wlak to or the local bus (dolmus) which is very cheap (2 lira per person). I really dont know were people get off slagging the hotel staff, everyone of them was very friendly and work very hard, the pool area was spotless with the area getting mopped all day and bits of paper and litter picked up constantly. Now to the first of two complaints I have, the food, I am not a fussy eater but I did not like the food, you will not starve, but did'nt find it very appetizing, we tended to eat cereal at breakfast and soup at lunchtime, but at night time we went to the Windy Bay resturant around the corner on the sea front, had a lovely steak with all the trimmings and a free bottle of wine for around fifteen quid for two, now thats quality. The music that was played everynight in the "discoteque" was extremely loud, when your there for a chill out holiday and lying in bed around half eleven/twelve with this blaring it can be annoying.I looked out and there was only about six people he was playing the music to.We actually resorted to putting toilet paper in our ears to try and sleep. Overall, the holiday was more than expected for a couple of hundred quid, this was a quick break as we're going to the domican republic again in august as our main holiday. I would'nt take to much notice about the bad reviews, everyone has their own opinions.

I travelled to La Luna in Gumbet with my best friend on April 27th with Goldtrail. Firstly I will say that the staff at the hotel and the turkish people in the shops and restaurants were all really friendly and made our stay. We did go in the first couple of weeks of the season but firstly I would say that I will never travel with Goldtrail again. The reps had to ask the guests what time they were told the welcome meeting was and they didn't seem to know what was going on. Our flight was also 3 hours delayed going out so although we paid for 7 nights we only actually stayed for 6. The hotel was advertised as 4 star all inclusive, however, the bar only had beer, vodka or wine and the food was average (we ate out every night). The rooms were cleaned every day but when we first arrived we found a mans sock in our room! There was entertainment by the pool every day and the team were good, however, the music they played from 9.30am until midnight was very loud (too loud) and either "doof doof" music or gangster rap. Okay for an 18-30's holiday but not for a hotel advertised as good for "families and couples"! The average age of the guests was about 40. If you are 2 girls going to Turkey on your especially to Gumbet don't worry about people in shops and bars "hassling you" Turkish people are very nice.

I think that the hotel has recentley changed its name. On arrival to the hotel we found that it was clean and well presented, the rooms are quite small and basic with small balcony. Quite a few steps around the complex would make this hotel difficult for diabled guests. Rooms were cleaned everyday with clean towels. Food was ok with buffet choice for all meals, a large selection of salads are always available and hot choices too. All staff are friendley and polite but didnt all speak good English. The hotel is close to the beach about a 2 minute walk. The beach though isnt up to much, due to the season not starting fully work was still being carried out on beach bars so they wernt all open. The bar at the hotel was open all day till 11pm. Not much choice on drinks and limited spirits, only supplied gin, vodka, Raki, also beer and soft drinks. They will only let you take 2 drinks at a time so if you want more you will need to take someone else with you. The upstairs bar is open till late but the drinks are expensive. The entertainers by the pool tried to get everyone involved in darts, waterpolo, pool and balls, they were very good and friendly. The pool was clean and areas around it well maintained with a member of staff always walking round picking up litter and emptying bins. The town was only a few minutes walk and lively with bars and restauarants. All in all for a budjet holiday it was very good. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did

LA LUNA Bodrum This resort is sold as four star who allowed this rating i was informed the rating had come from the turkish government. I had a classic view from my room of the building site next door. The accomodation was only worthy of a two star at best, the food was repetitive with chicken and rice featuring every night and cold beans boiled eggs every morning. The staff were rude to the point of being offensive and one holiday maker was threatened by a waiter. My wall in my room had serious damp to the extent that the plaster had blown and the paint was peeling off of the wall. The light switch fell off in my hand in the room, I used the toilet by the pool which leaked out on to my foot. I queued for the fizzy water which was described as lager and had stomach the smell from the local sewer, this was also where the ham burgers were served at lunch time. The staff treated the place like fawlty towers throwing table clothes across the restaurant and harassing you at the end of meal times forcing you to leave the area with intigestion. The roof of the restaurant leaked when the monsoon arrived and people had to eat standing up as there was no room for every one. I spoke to the manager via his interpreter as he was present all week due to the issues. We also had the unfortunate pleasure of having to stay at the Abacus hotel this was worse than the LA LUNA and we had to spend the first few hours of the holiday in this hotel which was not fit for purpose. The stirs to the rooms which there are quite a few of were crumbling and the kiddies paddling pool had a serated edge where the tiles had worn away.

abacus hotel gumbet turkey. what a flea pit this was. 15th sept 2007. just come back from a weeks holiday from the abacus, and well where do we start, there was very little info at the reception desk not a problem, the 100 steps from the reception "down" to the restaraunt, not a problem, going "up" 100 steps a problem, the room we had 901 was over the playground area ( no children used it while we where there thank goodness) where we picked up " fleas " from the childrens park , after we reported it to our rep " amy " the room was scrubbed from top to bottom it was spotless, a pity though they didn`t clean more often, we where moved to another room near to the kitchens just behind the animation booth which was basic but no choice about it really, the food we found ok , but the place lacked any female cleaners that is what it needed a good scrub, we would not recomend this hotel unless you could manage the steps( and didn`t mind the "pets") of which there are 200 from the reception to the bottom of the hotel grounds,going down is not not a problem but in 36 degree heat going up, i think is, my wife is off to the travel agents tomorrow to give them a personal review. i will keep you informed.

went for 2 weeks it was a late deal which we only booked one day before. it was a good choice, near bodrum only 1 euro on local transport, was confusing with money, took turkish money but alot wanted english or euros, so take euros is my advice because u can pay everything with that. staff very friendly, food good there was always something u can eat. rooms clean and cleaned regular. would go back again, went with my 13 year old son, who enjoyed the pool and the animation team who got everyone involved. very near to the beach and a go karting track which was good for all ages. the beach was a bit coarse but had la luna sunbeds there if u fancied a change from the pool, beautiful views. 1st time in turkey but not the last.

We have just returned from a trip to Club La Luna (Abacus) in Gumbet, would like to point out the following to any unsuspecting travellers. 1. Drinks are not available early morning - no tea/coffee making facilities in room - you'll be desperate by 8.00 am for your morning brew. 2. If you're not Turkish staff will treat you as a second class citizen. 3. Go to the bar just before 11.00 pm and if clock strikes 11.00 while its being poured, if you want a full glass expect to pay for the drink. 4. Beds not made by hotel staff for 3 days. 5. No flushing toilet paper down toilet use bit bin for used paper - staff not too willing to empty this every day - we had to complain to Rep and staff twice before this was done - and this took 3 days - a definite health threat considering its contents. 6. Entertainment team work very hard to get people involved and were very good. 7. Food was ok, lots of variety. 8. Pool is great, remember if you want to sit by it, your towel must be in place early in the morning, beach is nice too - with lots to do. This review may sound very negative, however the hotel didn't spoil our enjoyment of Gumbet and Turkey. Hope your experiences are better than ours.

where do i start about this hotel....... lots of chicken on the menu but they are catering for hundreds of people....... not enough sunbeds people were putting towels out at 11.30pm and not using the beds till nearly lunchtime the following day.... pool shuts at 7pm but cleaning staff start clearing the beds away at around 5.30pm and make it awkward for you to be there by around six as they put the tables out round the pool for dinner .... there are also not enough of these so if you want a table be ready for six grab a table and sit for two hours till dinner is ready... the animation team are great and enthusiastic brilliant set of guys.. the travel company we went with were useless the hotel was overbooked when we got there on the friday and on the saturday and the following weekend......very clean hotel and cant fault the waiters but the bar is very slow..... clean bedding and towels but dont rely on the fridge working....we tipped the cleaner with cigarettes which was more appreciated than money and how they have the energy to work the hour they do i have no idea i would go back there but not with the same travel company

I was dreading staying at this hotel after reading some of the previous reviews. All I can think, is that these people must have stayed in a different hotel! I have nothing but positive things to say. The room was absolutely spotless, and was cleaned daily, sheets and towels changed daily. The food was excellant, lots of choice, whether you wanted to sample local foods or stay traditionally English. The waiters and chefs uniforms were immaculate and the service was second to none. All members off staff could not do enough to help. They catered for all ages and made every guest feel special. All in all, this hotel proved excellant value for money and I shall be booking again for next year. My first time in Turkey and it certainly won't be the last.
